Long story' but i played ME twice right thru to the end and had really rounded out my character and completed every mission in the game. I'd also found every artifact and mineral etc going,
However i then suffered a virus that wouldn't let me boot up or anything. So i lost everything including my ME profile.

I have now got ME2, but hear that a lot of the story/outcomes are affected by what happened in ME if you import your character. I spent so much time in ME and did most of the storys that one of my friends who has completed ME and is now playing ME2 has offered to send me his saved game data/profile so i can get more out of the story in ME2. I appreciate many of his decisions may have been different' but i'll at least be able to know what they they're talking about and understand what they are talking about. However we are not sure what files i need. He's sent me his saved game files inside my docs and they didn't work on a fresh install of ME.

Any help appreciated.

You're trying to import his character into your ME2, correct?



The "Char_##..." files are what you want. (As opposed to "FirstName..." files or the MassEffectProfile file) Put them in the ME1 folder under ME2's Save folder in My Document\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\

There is no ME1 folder in the My Docs ME2 folder?

If there is no ME1 subfolder under Mass Effect 2\\Save\\ then go ahead and create it.
