I was curious why Kasumi DLC wasn't in my Cerberus Network downloads, so while looking for an answer, I found this on http://masseffect.bi...e.com/info/dlc/ that reads:

Kasumi - Stolen Memory

(DLC Description)
(PC and XBox 360 points needed for purchase)

And this:
*Now available (but then i noticed the * at the beggining)

the * seems to reference something in the left-hand side of the page, under the game info links, in a box marked Purchase (next line of text is copy/pasted):

*Please note this content is not included as a part of the
Cerberus Network. It is separate paid downloadable content.

Which leaves me (very) confused:
According to (my understanding of) the adds (the ones on gamestop.com in particular, where i bought ME2) for the Digital Deluxe edition of ME2, Cerberus Network grants subscribers:
1, Exclusive (to Cerberus Network) access to certain in game content
2, Free Access to game expanding DLC

That said, I'm rather taken aback that something as big as adding a new character isn't included into the network, doing so seems contrary to offering the Cerberus Network Perk at all, or at least charging so much extra money for such bonus perks, only to exclude something like this (which seems to be exacly the sort of DLC that we, at least I, paid for Cerberus Network to get). Also that this detail was not mentioned more noticably in the teaser information, short of that inconspicuous * i mentioned.

While the Alternate Appearance pack could be excluded from Cerberus Network (I understand it's simply costume additions to 3 NPC's, not actually affecting gameplay mechanics) I ask for the opinions of others concerning their understanding of Cerberus Network's purpose in ME2, in case I have been mistaken.

I would ask EA and BioWare to please specify the following:
1, IS the ME2 Kasumi DLC intentionally seperate from Cerberus Network, or is this mere accident?

2, Could you (BioWare, EA) please define what sort of content is (and will be) inteded for Cerberus Network, and what isn't? Also, what reasons would cause content to be excluded? Especialy since i cannot recall any advertisements, mentioning such exclusions, nor can i currently locate any 'fine print' mentioning this.

3, Since Cerberus Network is (apparently, by my understanding) is meant to reduce the overall price of purchasing DLC by virtue of a 'down payment' of sorts, how much could subscribers hope to save in this way overall? (total price of DLC with Ceberus, and withought over the course of all projected DLC)

4, For future DLC, could more emphasis be made (prior to release especially) as to what will be available over Cerberus Network, and what will not?

Answers to this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Not all DLC is free for Cerberus Members. This happens to be the first that isn't

I don't mean exclusively for Cerberus Network, I understand that some Cerberus Network content can be purchased by others at cost, I just mean that something THIS important sounds like something that should be in the Cerberus Network content, that's a reason I paid for that service, so i wouldn't have to pay every time new content arrived.

The first worthwhile DLC that isn't.

Anyway, CN never made any representation that it included all DLC. It did, however, represent that you can't get the CN DLC any other way and that's true: none of the CN DLC is available unbundled.

The only thing stupid about making Kasumi not Cerberus Network material, is the way they advertised the game before launch, "Shepard's dirty dozen", as i recall this is the twelfth crew member...

I will get it eventually, but it's just annoying i can't get it right now, and people are already playing it *ARGH!* :P.

Cheers and take care guys!

okay, because that's unfortunate, since i would appreciate that service, since i prefer to have all the content available to me withought having to use my card several times (my card sometimes locks if i spend money on several small online purchases over time, an automated service problem i'm still trying to overcome...) it's (generally) more secure to use the card once as it is compared to several transactions. Nor do i enjoy the use of purchasing 'points' to get what I want, I pay with US currency, give me THAT price please, using points just open the door for problems.

Hmm,, well I suggest you find some way to get this DLC, I have to say, in combat Kasumi is my favorite squad member to bring around and her flash bang grenade overheats weapons in a 9 meter radius that ignores Barriers/Shields/Armor, etc and the new SMG is just a welcome breath of fresh air and actually feels like a "Sub-Machine Gun" rather than just a machine pistol like an Uzi.

What problems? They sell you the only DLC you want for $7 but can only buy points in increments of $10. It's fantastic.

Yes, but every time a new DLC item arrives, i have to do another purchase, and the automated fraud monitoring on my card goes off with multiple transactions of that sort over a few weeks, even months (very frustrating, usually resulting in about 3-4 days without a card.) Micro transactions are the worst. which was why i hoped Cerberuss network did that, I think now that I was mistaken.

I suppose if i could 'pre order' a list of DLC that I choose, pay for the next, say, 6 months in advance, (perhaps even with a collective discount, doubt it) say, everything for characters, missions, equipment (armor too), NOT clothing (not armor, just textures). that would be good, too. no mess about points, and a definite pricetag.

It wasn't too bad this time. Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 is on sale for 400 points this week. My 10 dollars got me Kasumi and a new form of digital crack.

Yeah, that kind of annoyed me. I wanted to buy the exact 560 points, but I couldn't. Well, it was only 3 bucks more that I'll probably use sometime.

Such as only having the option to buy 800 points minimum, and then once Yyou have bought your 800 points, the resulting next page offers you 400............

I died inside a little bit Bioware. I really did.

This kind of sneaky money grabbing is soul destroying. Microsoft do it, you should NOT.

DONT DO IT

People seem to take the "Oh never mind" attitude to this.... To me it's utterly, utterly imoral, and disgusting.

Just look it up on the website. If it's coming out for the Cerbies, they will typically say so explicitly. If there's a price tag on it, that means it won't be on the network.

Marketing tactic. Buying things in quantity rather than one by one is not uncommon in business. Stuff ranging from shares of stock to m&m candies are like that.

You CAN buy exactly 560 points, silly people. Click on the "Expand Your Game" picture on the upper left of the screen, under your profile menu, and you can buy 400/560/800/1600 points. Now apologise to those nice Bioware people :)

I would go as far as immoral, but it certainly is idiotic.

News to Bioware: we live in the Real World™, and in the Real World™ we have this thing called 'currency'. Interestingly enough, it can be used as a trade medium to acquire goods and services. You really should try it some time.

I could almost force myself to understand if I was using a console, but I am using a Real Computer™. There is really no excuse to force me to buy Bioware Fun Bucks™ just so I can have the honor of buying your products.

Get over it.  Get used to it.  Get the fun stuff.  It's how everything will be before long.  Too bad.

A year ago, I felt the exact same way you do.  But what's the point in limiting yourself?  You're so much more enlightened than those lower class fools?  No, man.  We're not even laughing at you.  There's no time.  Too many games to play.

Limiting myself? Where did I say I wouldn't buy points to get content, since there is no other way to purchase it? I just think it is bloody stupid and stupidly unnecessary.

On the PC, it's exactly 1,039,141,520 bytes or 1,014,787 kilobytes or 991 megabytes (at least that's what my PC tells me).
