This being their mindset fits with FemShep's appalling dialog when talking to Jacob. They seem to have truly thought Jacob to be irresistable.

And trust me, someone who calls me "teh priize" a little after implying I'm the second best choice is NOT irresistable.

His upper body looks too sculpted anyway. It doesn't look realistic. It looks like he's wearing a fibreglass torso.
Which might explain why he has the waist of a 10 year old girl.

You can give a girl Biotics, genetically engineer her to be one hawt babe, perfect body, etc, and yet you may well find more people love the sweet gal whose face you can't even see. Same with Kaidan. There will be those who like Thane's smecks appeal, Garrus' chutzpah, but if we are going to compare Jacob and Kaidan, I think the latter will win by an overwhelming majority. No matter how smecksy you made the former's abs.

Jacob was a good guy, and I like him on my team. But man, the romance was...a libido killer.

Jacob does work as a friend, and when FemShep drops the goddamn **** dialog. Though he still needs to drop some of that blandess.
And even if Jacob had a perfect body he still wouldn't be a great catch like the game makes him out to be simply because his personality during a romance reverts to bad porno mode.

Just wanted to point out that besides all the various reasons it's silly Kasumi doesn't comment or Ash or Kaidan that people have already mentioned, you have a picture of her/him on your desk. She knows all this other stuff, but hasn't noticed that/picked up on the tension on Horizon/overheard any crew gossip?

Agreed. I youtube'd the Garrus romance and found it comically akward. Then I checked out the Jacob ones and found it comically painfully awful.

Which is a shame. For Manshep Jacob is the one guy who seems to have all his **** squared away. Even on his loyalty mission, you don't have to talk him down, he knows his father isn't worth him pulling the trigger.

Makes him a reliable comrade to have around.

Thats what I kind of meant when I wrote that the Jacob romance is loathed by many. After I read this I really must second you on that it is badly written.
I didn't know about the rejection thing though, sounds really terrible. I should look it up!

'the priiiize' always makes me giggle in hysterics. It also murders the mood horrible. I think I see what they were going for with the 'needs a better man' line (I have vague self esteem issues and don't feel I'd be good enough for the Perfect Woman) but the context and delivery does make it seem like Femshep's just 'Eh, you'll do' option, especially with the way she talks to him.

To be fair it's more like half way through the conversations with Jacob that, if you stick to the professional and stand-offish choices, you realise that hey, Shep is talking normally, and Jacob is actually a decent guy to talk with!

The ****Shep dialog just drives me up the wall, especially the opener. What the hell were they thinking.
Then there's this:



The "get to know you" dialog choice, after the suicide mission when Jacob talks about your decision.
Which is suddenly a normal line, delivered in a normal, non-****ty, in-character voice.

AND THEY DIDN'T USE THIS DURING THE MAIN GAME WHY?

People are too easily prone to acting on their jealous impulses.

I always judge things from as neutral a perspective as possible.

It's why I greatly dislike Thane and Samara more then Zaeed, when Zaeed is definitely more evil. He's atleast honest about it and doesn't pretend it's not his choice, or dictated by some Just Code.

But thats neither here or there.
