Makes him a reliable comrade to have around.

He is an *awesome* comrade. I wouldn't contest that at all. He and Garrus are my FemShep's constant team mates and the folks she trusts most . At least until Samara comes along.

And to me it is not what *he* says as much as what Femshep says when she speaks to him. Sure other characters say cheesy things but Femshep has specific dialogue options to start that. Otherwise, it is pretty buddy buddy with them.

But in the case of Jacob, from the GET GO, fem shep speaks to Jacob like she is a cat in heat. Your FemPC cannot  tone it down, or keep it professional. Until the very end when if you have gritted your teeth to your character speaking in 100% innuendo even though you didn't choose to, Jacob becomes the friend. And he is awesome as one, IMO.

It is the way the romance was scripted on the part of FemShep that is a bigger deal killer to me than what Jacob says. Works great if you think Jacob is hawt, but if you don't start off with those intentions from the start, it is a real buzz kill to watch your PC talk like that.

I completely agree... The woman's practically purring each and every time she talks to him....
Otherwise, I quite liked Jacob - aside from being a too-obvious Kaidan substitute (he had to be a biotic, too? as well as the only human male in the squad), he's actually very nice. Also, he's the ONLY person who actually really acknowledges that Shepard might feel a bit lost after being dead for 2 years.

Out of curiosity I watched the Jacob romance on youtube. "The priiiiiize" thing really made me laugh, but I was too confused about the first part of that particular line - ok, how exactly is sneaking into the captain's quarters "like" sneaking into the captain's quarters?

If fem shep had someone decent to romance, we would not be complaining, we had a fish,a lizard and a toad.

Who would you pick?

No, but I wouldn't want to sleep with one.

To be fair it's more like half way through the conversations with Jacob that, if you stick to the professional and stand-offish choices, you realise that hey, Shep is talking normally, and Jacob is actually a decent guy to talk with!

The ****Shep dialog just drives me up the wall, especially the opener. What the hell were they thinking.
Then there's this:

Image IPB

The "get to know you" dialog choice, after the suicide mission when Jacob talks about your decision.
Which is suddenly a normal line, delivered in a normal, non-****ty, in-character voice.

AND THEY DIDN'T USE THIS DURING THE MAIN GAME WHY?

The other way round would be good: first neutral, then IF you choose to pursue a romance,  a slightly more ****ty way of talking.

hm, the whole discussion is going off topic. But since off topic it is, I'll ask something random.
The eye colour, is it a standard colour or is your redhead a renegade without the stupid scars?

Garrus at least has some personality, awkward that it is.

Thane is too much copy-pasta from the Big Book of Generic Tragic Brooding Backgrounds but is otherwise okay.

I actually liked each one of them- Tali, Miri, Mordin, Jack, Jacob, Garrus, Samara...each one. I was invested in their loyalty missions. I really wanted them to be happy.

I just didn't want to romance any of them. But then again, I didn't even romance Liara or Kaidan in ME1. He still managed to think we had a night in Ilos.

Bioware is always tricking me thus.

And I thought he was the decent, shy sort....

It was bad enough being jumped by the Asari consort for not thinking too much of her gift of Whitesnake song lyrics but man....

That bugged me.

Make "SEXXORS HERE" options more blatant. Having sex losely isn't something some characters of mine should do by accident.

It boils down to the horrible system where apparently in the ME universe there's no such thing as close friends.

Consort: Blah blah blah pseudo-philosophy.

Shepard: Uhuh.. okay.. is that all? I'll just be..

Does she say nothing about Kaidan and Ashley? Seriously? WTF?

It kinda makes sense.  Liara is an inforamtion broker with a very good repuatation, so of course someone like Kasumi would have either worker with Liara herself or some of those in her employ.

Ash and Kaidan though, are both Alliance regualrs, and move in entirely different circles.  Kaiden's a biotic and an officer, Ash is an oldschool, dyed in the wool ass-kicking ground pounder.

The only way Kasumi would have met any of them is if she somehow ends up getting stuck in an active warzone, or running afoul of them while hitting a military base.  And I get the feeling that infiltrating and stealing from the Alliance Marine Corps or Navy is something Kasumi wouldn't do.

Corporate espionage and robbery is one thing.  But going up against the kind of resources a government-backed military stablishment can bring to bear is something else entirely.  Pissing off some merc organization probably wouldn't even make Kasumi blink.  Getting whole N7 squads and whatever other kind of covert ops troops tasked with tracking her down would probably drive her to find someplace very dark, quiet and removed from civilization to hide.

Get out of here with that critical thinking.

People want to feel outraged!

I'm not outraged, I'm confused, considering that the woman feels compelled enough to butt in and comment when you sleep with say Thane, or Miranda, that she wouldn't feel compelled to say "hey, heard your boyfriend dumped you in front of your squad, that sucks!" And while Miranda and Shep were going at it in the engine room, I don't see Thane being the type to run around going "wooo! score!" so obviously, people on the ship gossip. Why wouldn't they gossip about shep being told off in front of the squad, especially when Joker and Kelly know about it?

Why is this so hard to comprehend?

edit: to clarify :P

Just pretend it never happened, I doubt there are game changes, but yeah, it reminds me of telling Garrus to disable a ship not shoot it down. Shep then went on to call him a terrorist with a badge for letting innocents die...I just killed Balek. I like the DAO system I know what im saying that way.

It isn't hard to comprehend, and that comment above is NOT critical thinking at all, it is faulty logic at best.  But fanboys want to jump on anyone who has a comment or complaint about anything that doesn't directly affect them.  If it is something they care about, suddenly it's the end of the world.  Hypocrites and people incapable of having empathy for others, coming together to troll and whine.  Ah, the internet.

I think it is because most people miss this point of view *entirely*..

There are so many different arguments being made that people tend to lump them all into the  "BWAH WHINY FANGIRL/FANBOI" category. That a person who is saying- this makes no sense is the same as the person cribbing about oh- not being able to makeout with Ashley/Kaiden with a paragon interrupt during Horizon.

It is not the same thing. At all. In fact they don't even need Kasumi voiced dialogue, if they have the option of Kasumi expressing curiosity as to why Shep resists her colleagues to which PC can respond that they are "not over the ex".

I think most of the Ashley/Kaiden fans just want to understand what on earth is going on. They are not suggesting mutiny or burning the Bioware building or anything.

Suprise sex with consort in ME1 allows her to be LI in ME3.

Or at the very least create some nasty drama with current LI.

Thanks bioware.

I assumed there may be something with the consort so my MaleShep was extra friendly with her. But it was a disappointment. Figured out later that it was the renegade option that triggered it, this really was rather strange.

It is almost like they are testing our patience...seeing if we will stray from Ash or Kaidan and then BAM the huge passionate payoff of the relationship in ME3.

At least I hope so.

I don't know. It may well be ME3 introduces a whole new cast of characters with cameos from your ME1 and ME2 LIs. You get to see them ONCE and then after your death mission, you *may* get one reunion cutscene.

Then they'll say- we gave the fans the LIs they wanted....

I am not feeling too trusting.

Frankly if they removed the entire ME2 cast for a new roser in ME3 I'd lost almost all the loyalty i have for bioware.

This makes sense. I really like the ME1 LIs, much more so than the ME2 ones, and I have no real issues with what occured on Horizon (though Liara's behavior is bizarre, but that's another animal).

Considering Bioware's recent track record regarding continuity, ie: Awakening ( I know they are separate teams, even so...), I think the ME1 LI fans being concerned is understandable.

That would just be getting ridiculous.  We already have 9 LIs. Image IPB

They better not after the spiel about how they kept Ash/Kaidan/Liara out of the party to make sure they lived to see ME3.
