I see posts like this and it makes me wonder why anyone would try to rationalize the behavior of a fictional character to this extent. The writers were tasked with throwing in some filler commentary and I seriously doubt that they were overly concerned with this level of intricacy. If some of you folks want to imagine that it's reasonable for Kasumi to not be aware of the Ash/Kaiden relationship or that she felt that it was inappropriate to comment on it, then that's your prerogative. That doesn't impose any obligation on anyone else to accept your theorizing as fact or even plausible. It's certainly understandable to me why gamers with an attachment to Ash/Kaiden would feel slighted and even a bit apprehensive about the future of their relationship with a favored ME LI.
It's just what audiences do. When we're immersed in a story, we give writers the benefit of the doubt. In the end, it doesn't matter what the writers' intentions were. The interpretation is all that matters.
If it's not explicitly stated or otherwise explained then it's left to the individual audience member to assume whatever he/she wants to believe. Too many people on this board create their own fictional explanation for events in the game and post it in a thread as if there were some factual basis for it. How many times have you read variations on < insert character name here > wouldn't do, think or say < random action, thought or comment > ? Solely based on that particular posters assumptions and not in any way sourced from material contained within the game. My question is, why would anyone post this type of speculative fiction with the expectation that it should be accepted as definitive?
