I think its only on things that exceed a certain amount in monetary value. Of course I am not sure on the amount I think it is $2K but not sure. Most of the items alone don't qualify if that is the case.

This is supposed to be Biowares gift to the fans, there should be no tax on gifts.

And there shouldn't be such a thing as a luxury tax either, but there is.

I'd say talk to your Represenative, but they don't listen.

Yeah, that'd be great if it were true, but hey, welcome to reality, guess what? It sucks.

Its hardly the least fair taxed out there, I mean you pratically get taxed for dying

In most states anything won in a contest worth over $499 dollars you are required to pay both federal and state taxes on. IE I once won $1000 off a state lottery scratcher and they only gave me a check for $950 (state taxes were taken out) then I had to pay federal taxes on it when tax season came around.

Still, I must say for any piece of Bioware awesomeness being given away for the Bazaar it's worth it.

Based on my experience with winning $1000 and given that those computers are worth $2000 dollars the prize winners could be shelling out close to $400 dollars in taxes if they are in fact taxed on there winnings.

Makes my t-shirts seem a lot better of a prize now :)

Don't feel like paying taxes? Don't pay fine by me but you damn well better not use any taxable services or things. So no 911 or paved roads for you!  Generalization? Yes, but a true one. *Wonder how many different way she'll be called evil by the crazy people.*

Too many people fail to realize how important taxs are.   I almost feel bad getting my tax refund every year since I feel like Im not contributing enough.

You do understand you get that refund because you contributed too much right?

I doubt the computer I won will affect my tax bracket or return but still is something to research.

"All taxes, including, without limitation, all federal, state and local taxes, and international tariffs, are the sole responsibility of the each individual winner. Any prize of $600 or more will require winner to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release. Failure to do this will result in forfeiture of your prize."

What I want to know is how do we pay for these taxes?

There's only a tax if the item is valued at $600 or more.

Yes, I read the entire rules page.
