I've recently bought Dragon Age: Origins, after installing the game fully I ran config within my program files to set things how I want them, after this I launched the game via the launcher and the title of this topic appeared as an error message saying: "Game cannot launch because of misconfiguration. Please reinstall your game and try again."
So then I reinstalled the game ad just went straight to play, and the same error message appeared. So then I updated to patch 1.03 and yet again the same error message appeared, so then I uninstalled fully, tried playing same error message. I tried uninstalling and patching to 1.03 same message, i'm at a loss of what can possibly either be causing this or what I can do to correct it by this point.

You aren't asking about a console version, so if you want anything like a useful answer, you have to provide useful information (what *IS* your system configuration, EXACTLY and what didn't work from what you learned when you ran a search?)

It's the default configuration. Judging from browsing i've read I came to the conclusion that it's a bug that not only I have experienced but it doesn't seem too common. Alot of people mention changing directory pathing in the properties of the EAAccessInstaller.exe which is supposed to be in C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age however for me despite quick installing it automatically saves to C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age. Long story short i've tried every fix, except that one (Which i'll post a link to the explaination of so it's a little easier to understand) and the only reason I havent tried that is because I can't locate said files.
As for what i'm running, Vista 32bit, I have a 9800GT. I'm basically more than capable of running DOA even on it's highest settings. Which I didn't even set it to.

I don't have a ready workaround, but am looking for more information.
Another possible workaround that I have seen is to open the file EACoreApp.ini, which should be in your Dragon Age/bin_ship directory, and look for the lines core.agents.0.path= and core.agents.1.path= and make sure the path that they use actually does point to activation.exe
On my machine, this is located in C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Electronic Arts\\activation\\
You might try looking in a similar location and then edit the path in EACoreApp.ini to point to the correct place.
Please create backup on the file before you edit it, so you can easily restore it in case it doesn't work. Let us know your results!

It seems that the path in the .ini file is fine but I just don't have an activation.exe at all.
Just a picture to add some clarfication into me possibly doing the wrong thing and not looking in the right area.
If thats where im supposed to be looking then it's definatly not in there or any of the subs.

I think we may have the issue then. Do you have the EA download manager installed? I have some some users report that after downloading it and entering their registration key into it, they were able to bypass that error message. Maybe this will put the file in the right place and allow you to play.

Thank you such an incredible amount. After downloading the EA download manager and inputting my code it's finally running. You have no idea how frustrating it's been the entire day for me!
It's literally been trying a billion different things and you come in and solve it in 2 posts. My hats are off to you, you're a very good man(and/or possibly lady) XD

It's working now, but not exactly certain why. I tried launching daorigins.exe from explorer and had the same problem. I started cygwin server and launched it from the xterm window and then it worked. I was then able to launch it normally from the shortcut. Something was obviously cached somewhere, maybe in the registry??

Update, I was not quite right in my last post. It only works from the xterm to launch. It appears that if I launch daorigins.exe from the xterm and get out and immediately try the shortcut it works, probably still cached in memory... Tried launching from a dos window and I get the same error, only seems to work from an xterm...

Same as always, a complete problem report is part of the routine. (As already referenced here 8 months ago.)

same problem as people had 8 months ago.
I am using XP SP3. Game version 1.04, awakening + almost all DLC installed.
The error came completely out of blue, no changes were made to configuration or anything. But I suppose it has to be related to DLC. Before I got those DLC I completed the game 2 times (origins + awakening as well).
I have tried milions of suggested solutions, have latest version of physX and video drivers (GTX 460), reinstalled adobe AIR, reinstalled the game many times, replaced the daorigins.par file, and other things... Only way how I can run the game is to run the EAcoreserver.exe manually and then imidiately run the daorigins.exe. Could play like this but it is really annoying! Checked as well EAcore_app.ini file, every path look OK.
Not to mention all the problems with DLC content, I have the DAO content updater service active and running, but it still logs me out every 5 mins or so while I'm in game, sometimes it happens that party members lose their DLC equipment, then I have to reload, it is really really annoying.
Why all this? Why paying people do have all the problems related to anti-piracy issues, while those using crack versions dont? I have a dilemma whether to get DAO2 or not, but I certainly won't invest money in troublemaking DLCs...
