I'm just curious.  I'm relatively new to the modding scene, and I see these beautiful screenshots, and I wonder what is used to make them look that way.

So, I'd like to know what mods you guys out there use.  I don't want to miss anything cool, just because I didn't know about it!  Please help me out.

  • natural bodies with better textures.
  • personal annoyance remover (removes the christmas tree idiotic affects from staying persistant on your characters...I hate having shield wall, for example, up and look like a sparkling moron...only thing I dont' like is it affects spells that leave a persistant affect as well and imo spells should show....skills should not...I mean since when does taking a particular stance cause someone to glow? apparently it does in DA:O..)
  • Dragon Age Redesigned (with some face .mor's I've done myself...LOVE my Oghren...and Alistair mor's I have)
  • better sex scenes
  • circles be gone (or something like that..removes those huge hideous circles from under chars)
  • after beating it 4 times I started using a merchant buy markup so they buy items for 75% the value instead of default 25%
  • couple new hair mods that look great
  • some eye mods for better more natural eyes
that's all I can think of right now without breaking out my override folder

I WAS using the JBTextures...but after awhile I got sick of it...the guy did a great job on SOME of hte new textures...but others...look like absolute trash (some rugs, doors, wood, etc) and honestly the default high textures overall I prefer..the tradeoff of good vs bad with JBTextures isn't worth it to me....but I do wish someone would do a proper HD Texture set like Oblivion/Fallout 3/The Witcher got from the community.

I don't usually use mods, but I noticed some that I liked and have.

-Leliana Item Set (looks like her outfit from the Sacred Ashes trailer)

-Wings of Velvet (I like mages, this is a nice looking mage set, but I realize I still use Reaper's personally and throw the mod outfit on Wynne or Morrigan)

-Skip the Fade

-that one mod that gives you the ancient elf boots.

-Ivory Tower (AW set, don't use the armor much, but the swords were neat).

I think I'll get the personal annoyance remover at some point because everything having a flashy display is ridiculous, but I'm currently just tolerating it.

The only I really can't live without is the hair mod lol I always find that I never like any of the hairs on any game where I can pick them. So I always end up turning to mods.

I'd love that one that takes off the effects when you have an ability active. Hmm... *goes to search for it*

Ugh, for some reason, a lot of my mods won't work now! I had to reinstall the game, and everything just seems to have... got broked. :( Especially the dragon age mutator mod. I install it into my override folder, the files appear, everything is peachy keen, then I go into game and... nothin'! I swear, this is getting on my last nerve.

A list of mods i'm using:

Dragon Age Redesigned Version 6-7, Extra Dog Slot, More Hairstyles, Personal Annoyance Remover and Natural Bodies all in one (Essential mods to have.)

A little leg - combined mesh version - males and females ( I just use the Morrigan Robe, the rest of the modded armor looks ugly to me.)

Grey Warden Runic Armor (I highly recommend)

Orator Vestments  (Armor)

Oracle (Mage Robe)

Better Sex Cutscences (Adult Content)

Skip the Fade (The Fade is fun the 1st and 2nd time, then it starts getting tedious.)

Equal Love ( Alistair and Morrigan are now bisexual. The dialogue is gender neutral.)

Patch 1.03 messed up a lot of mods.  However the eye candy visual only ones like face, hair etc. seem to be fine.

There will be more mods for Awakening once they update the Toolset for it.

Like I said, that may be as important or more important than patch 1.04, as an updated Toolset will allow the community of modders to tackle some more issues themselves, as well as adding to the xpac in other ways.

Re-Spec mod, More Hairstyles with Pineapple Trees Vibrant Colors (had to merge them manually, though), Personal Annoyance Remover (seems to be quite popular), Detailed Tooltips, Ancient Boots fix, and the chest at party camp mod. Nothing that touches the game mechhanics, i'm quite happy with them as they are.

My absolutely favourite mod of all times: the lockbashing mod! Can't imagine playing without it anymore.

I use the ancient elven armor fix and the Alistair dialogue patch. I'm going to remove the dialogue patch, I think. While I like it that it fixes somethings that are broken (animation, dialogue trees), it also changes things just because they aren't to the modder's taste, which isn't my preference. I wish this mod was divided into two parts, fixes and tweaks, as I want one, but not the other.

I've been thinking about getting one that adds some hairstyles. I haven't looked extensively but the only one I've seen A) adds a ton and B) has some huge ponytail things that just look silly IMO. I just want a couple more options, just some variations on the existing ones would be nice (and some for elves that don't clip into their ears lol).

ETA: if it's not too off-topic, anyone have hair mod recommendations? I think I've seen one that unlocks Oghren and Morrigan's hair for the PC, wonder if there's one that unlocks the Duncan/Anders ponytail? hmmmm Oh lord I hope I don't end up with a buttload of mods that will drag my system down, once I start with this sort of thing I can't stop >.>

I'm using;

For DAO

Alistair Dialog Patch

Modmanager

Bag of Kittens

Noble Clothes

CharGenMorph Compiler

Base Chest

No Helmet Hack

Less Barking Dog

Would like some of the armour and eye mods, but the colours aren't working for me and I haven't figured out yet if it's the dreaded patch or my graphics card.

DAO:A

Those Ren's hairs sure get around, i think they were originally created for Morrowind. My characters in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age all use the same hairstyles

Ha! I think that's the same Ren who also made hair for the sims 2--that long side parted style looks very like one I used and abused lol. Thanks for the recommendations :)

I'd like to ask a question about mods for armour/robes.

I've downloaded a couple "Wings of Velvet" being one. In the gallery photo's they look as if they have a sheen to them and the armour mod lookes highly polished, but in my game play they are flat colours, does anyone else have this problem or maybe it isn't a problem they just look like that and the gallery photos have been enhanced?

- My own modded helmet, it's a Silverite Heavy Infantry helm with some kick-ass stats and some lore tying it to the Warden Commander armour.

- The fix to make Vigilance look like Vigilance

- The fix to make WK items work in Awakening

- No weird ghost model thingy with Fade Shroud on the AW

And that's pretty much it.
