You can always tell game/cartoon/anime fans because voice tends to be as much of a draw as appearance. I admit half of my fondness for Garrus is DAT VOICE. I could listen to Keener read a phonebook.

True dat. All my earliest crushes were on VAs, and in my younger days I used to be able to reliably name an unknown VA from a single line of dialogue for a crazy amount of actors.

It's great that the gaming industry is now finally treating the craft (and the gaming public) with the respect it deserves. For a long time, so many games just phoned in the VO, as if it didn't matter at all (Res. Evil, anyone? lol)

I thnk when the voice doesn't fit, it changes the entire experience for the worse. Take Heavy Rain, for example: amazing visuals, great story, wonderful actors, but something doesn't quite gel and it's jarring as heck!

Sorry. Back on topic.

Urdnot Wreav, plus countless backround voices. Jim Cummings:

I think voice acting is more important than appearance in determining whether I like a character. For instance, my favorite ME2 squadmates are Samara and Miranda, and the voice acting is the main reason. I'm female, and not into women (sorry guys) so their sexiness if anything should just make me roll my eyes and focus on other characters. But both characters were given a lot of depth in the writing, and the voice acting brought that out beautifully. Of course, they're my go-to squad, my Warp/Reave tag-team.

RE5: I thought the voice acting for Chris, Sheva, Josh and Jill was decent, but man, Irving and Excella were painful to listen to. Wesker wasn't much better.

Heavy Rain: This could have been an awesome game if the voice acting had been better. It's like they asked the actors to read the script, and only told them afterward that they were being recorded.

I see them but I cant imagine the voices coming out of those peoples mouths, ok Martin Sheen maybe... Damn all he needs is blue eyes and he looks like TIM, but for some I just cant seem to put the face to the voice, especially the krogan ones, and garrus but damn I would love to listen to them irl because some people have epic voices in game.

lol. Yeah. And casting children who are clearly not Amercian as Americans was...a misstep.

You sure about Res. Evil? Remember this:whistle:

Actually, while looking for that clip, I found this. Thank the spirits Bioware aren't idiots.

Excellent thread, great work putting it together. I have to agree with the general sentiment that Bioware managed to put together a stunning cast for this. I think they pitched the balance between career VO actors and hollywood talent perfectly. Keith David and Martin Sheen are both stunning (and the highlights for me), but the game would be nothin without the exceptional work that permeates down to even the bit players. I was a little skeptical about Tricia Helfer as EDI, but then much of that might have just been me assuming EDI would have been an AI in the same vein as Caprica Six (i.e. effectively a person), but she really pulled it off. It's just a shame she couln't have had a character that warranted using her face...
A minor suggestion, if I may: I appreciate restructuring the OP would be a lot of work, but maybe it would be a good idea to list them by voice actor first, then listing their characters? This isn't important for most of them, but there's a few actors who have a couple of significant roles. For example, Armin Shimmerman also voiced Fai Dan, who I would argue was a singificant character. Obviously this would really only be worth it if we can confirm a decent enough number of these, and it would be a lot of work, but I still think it's a good idea.
By the by, does anyone know if Caroline Seymour also voiced the Hidden Bek guard in KotOR 1? ("Go in and speak to Gadon if you want") Sounds so much like her, and she of course did Helena Shan in the same game, but I've never been entirely sure...

I do have a long list of secondary, third, etc. voices on several people.  I will at some point be going back and getting those characters attached with the VAs as well.  My initial purpose was to get up what I thought would atleast be their most recognized or imporant role.  Also I was trying to pinpoint a few more people/characters that are kinda of up in the air.  Dont worry though fully intend to by the end of this have every single notable character listed.  Image IPB

I think Mr Templeman was one of the first video game voice actors I had to find out who he was!
Lagacy of Kain FTW! Such a badass voice he has!

Hey all,

Just got a message back from Dusty Everman (Thanks again Dusty) Hopefully soon he can get back to me with a full cast list.

I couldn't get ahold of a full VO list, but here are the ones you mention:

Engineer Donnelly: John Ullyatt

Engineer Daniels: Dannah Feinglass

Harbinger: Keith Szarabajka

I'll be locating pictures here shortly and updating them into the main page.

Awesome!
I knew that was Ullyatt and Szarabajka voicing those characters.

Thanks (to both you and Dusty).

Jim Cummings also voiced another memorable character in ME2- The Patriarch on Omega.

I think I'm pretty confident with putting Phil Lamarr down for Ronald Taylor. I went back and listened to Jacob's loyalty mission again and then compared it to Phil's work as Green Lantern on Justice League. Ronald and John Stewart are almost identical in their voice. I'm honestly surprised I didnt recognize the voice instantly. Must be because I havent seen Justice League in awhile. I figured I'd get a couple options before I make it official.

Hm, I’m pretty sure Dave Fennoy does Ronald Taylor.

Kain, biz-nitches! :o

(check out his episode of ER. It is outstanding. Better than his turn as death in Charmed. ("The cheese must not be divided!")
