I just have a quick question here.  I didn't really care for the Deep Roads, and Shale wants me to go back and search for something to remind him of his past.  I just want to know if this is going to open up a new area, or if I need to slog again through all the areas I've already been through while completing Orzammar?

The place will show up on your map of the dark roads underground. It's a small area, and a short quest too. Not nearly as long as the dungeon before it.

You have to enter the deep roads before he shows you though.

I've gone into the deep roads, with Shale, but still nothing appears in my map, and talking to Shale produces nothing useful. What part of the deep roads? Or am I missing something?

Have you completed 'a paragon of her kind'? I don't think Shale's quest triggers until you've finished the main Orzammar questline.

Then you have to go to Caradin's Cross and Shale will mark a new thaig on your map.

You might need to raise her approval a bit more before she gives it.
