I'm on my third playthrough and I'll probably take a break after I finish it. Civilization IV is calling to me once again.

My son got Civilization IV for my birthday. Is is good?I used to play Sim City and enjoyed it.

It's a bit different since you actually have to compete against rival civilizations and can't just build at your leisure (though that option is available in custom games), but if you're fine with that, it's great.

Just one warning, though: the campaigns can be long and drawn out.  The game is fun as hell at the beginning when you're exploring, expanding, and making contact with new neighbours, but once all the land is claimed (often by the time the Renaissance kicks in), you spend the rest of the game defending your borders or trampling over weaker nations (which can be quite tedious after a while).  Thankfully, there are lots of interesting custom scenarios that are far more entertaining than the core game.

I'm on my fifth complete playthrough and still going strong. It helps that my favorite parts are the beginning and end, so I'm keen to try a new origin and to get to the Landsmeet and final battle. Playing different types has kept it fresh enough - dwarf noble sword& shield, mage, human rogue archer, dwarf commoner two-hander, now city elf rogue dual weapons. Sixth will be a Dalish elf warrior archer and I also want to try an arcane warrior, which I think is the one specialization that is almost a class of its own. It also helps to vary my party and relationships. I've used Shale hardly at all, so now I will. And I've tented Zevran but never taken the relationship all the way, so that's the plot line this time.

DA:A still awaits!

Gears/gears2 is LOOOOOONG. Has a pretty interesting story behind it, though I found gears 2 more fun. I've also heard good things about God of War 3.

gears isn't long. its about 6 acts, with 6 chapters in each, but as long as any normal fps. you can finish it in a weekend of normal play (4ish hours a day perhaps)

Finished 3 playthroughs in 246 hours (mage, DW Com, Dalish), did all the origins stories and all the DLC. But now it is time to move on, sorry Awakenings. I'll hit a round of ME1 (cuz i lost my old saved games) then try out ME2.

What was or will be your limit with DAO, when have/will you consider yourself done with the game permenantly or ready for something different for a while?

Uncertain what my limit will be with DA:O, but I'm pretty sure I'm approaching it now.  For now.  Awakenings has revitalized my interest for the time being -- will be good for three runs through from Origins to the end of Awakenings, I think.  Maybe one more for the stock Orlesian Warden, instead of one of my perhaps-not-so-dead as-first-presumed Wardens from Origins.

In terms of the number of complete play throughs I don't think it'll have the traction of a BG2 (or even BG1) but to its credit, DA:O is the first game since I started playing such games ('round '84) where I really wanted to play all the way through as something other than a mage.  And DA:O made all the classes fun and interesting... that's a real rarity for me.

There are a couple more "concept runs" I want to try out -- a solo run (ie. a 100% kills run, since there are places where you just can't go it alone), an "evil SOB" run (though I'm not really all that good at playing bad), that kind of thing (my plan for a PackRat run looks like it'll never happen... not enough storage space in this game) -- but yeah, I know where you're coming from.

In my case, I'm trawling through the Good Old Games site and trying out those games that I missed the first time they were around, but which sound interesting.  Divine Divinity, Arcanum, maybe a Gothic of one flavour or another, there are a few games on that site that I think I'll try out.

Have probably put over 500 hours into this game, though.  That ain't bad.  Hmmm... still have ever saved game from all my characters.  Ought to tally up the numbers.

I'm on my third full playthrough of DA:O (have also done all the Origins) and actually enjoying it more than my second playthrough (despite having exhausted all the good guy/bad guy options), partly because I'm using a previously unused party set of Wynne (first time I recruited her) and Leliana (along with Alistair who I did use in my first playthrough). I've also managed to unlock a few quests I never did before, like the thievery ones in Denerim. It helps that there was a 2 or so month gap between playthroughs #2 and #3 though.

I also recently played DA:A and loved that too but will not be replaying it until they fix the bugs that hampered it (though DA:O still has some bad bugs - like I finished Warden's Tower, then Levi appeared in my camp again to try and restart the quest - I go there, the merchants are gone and just an empty, opened up Keep again!). Problem with DA:A is by the time you recruit your last Wardens, you barely have time to use them in any way (I couldn't even give Sigren her joining) so I'll have to recruit them the other way around next time.

Does the multiplayer work well?

I've completed 5 runthroughs and have another character at level 15, which I probably won't finish. Recently grabbed and installed Awakening but haven't started it. Need a break...

Currently replaying The Witcher after a couple of years break and am really enjoying it. Better story (and better integration of story), better graphics, better alchemy system, the world seems so much more alive (ambient NPC animations, day/night cycle etc etc).

Dragon Age is an excellent game though, and I'll be back, but for now I've had enough...

Just finished my third playthrough as well.  Need to make at least one more complete pass as a Dalish Elf rogue in DA:O and run the two dwarf origins but am going to hold off on that in order to play ME 2.  DA:O has been good but I'm ready for something different.  Not sure when I'll get back to DA:O or even Awakenings for that matter.  It will likely depend greatly on how many times I decide to play ME 2.

4 complete playthroughs, 2 in Awakening. I've done all the origins several times. Definitely time for a break from both DAO and ME2.

Five complete runs with each origin the sixth was on hold while I did three runs through DAA with DAO imports of a mage, warrior, rogue. Doing a seventh DAO using the settings of my first character. Started White Knight, FF13, Borderlands, Uncharted 2, Prince of Persia. The Witcher sounds interesting I will have to try that out on the PC as I prefer a controller to keyboard.

If you like DaO in terms of full on voice acting, story, etc. Try out The Witcher, awesome game.

I'll second that...started playing The Witcher a couple of days ago. Brilliant, truly brilliant. Get the retail Enhanced Edition. Has lots of goodies in the box.

Am only a few days into it myself.  Game world is supposedly epic, over 100+ hours of content I hear.  Love the little additional bar games like Poker Dice etc.

Detail is fantastic. Birds, animals, people, weather, time!, people, going about their business - ambience superb. Maps join up well, story is on the money. Some obvious cost cutters (duplicate NPCs mostly), but hell, it is immersive. The mini games like Poker Dice just flow in - another brilliant bit of immersion. The combat feels odd, but not p*ssing me off.

Gears is great. If you got a good friend, co-op through the campaign is a total blast for both Gears 1 and 2. Same for Halo 3 on Legendary difficulty

Planning my next DAO play as well, taking into account my knowledge of what does and doesn't carry forth. Considering warrior. Having fun thinking about it rather than building just yet. I have expectations of the next set of games/DLC from Bioware, etc

I've played Divine Divinity a long time ago and I don't remember much about it but i do remember enjoying it a lot. The Witcher is one to consider too, I just had the best time ever playing that game.

The other thing that made The Witcher special is that the developpers (pretty small) were pressured to realease it by the distributors and they were pissed because it wasn't up to par. But they kept working at it until it was up to their standards and released the enhanced edition, but guess what, that edition was made available for free to all who had the original game. I think they showed a lot of respect for their fans and pride in their work,  I cannot wait to throw some money their way for the recently announced Witcher 2.

I'm still chopping away at DA:O (I play very slow). One of my top 5 favorites.

I've finished DAO five times so far, but DAA only one time.
If they fix some of the worst bugs, I'd like to import at least one additional DAO character (my elf Arcane Warrior, most likely), maybe even try the Orleasion warden as well. Other then that, I'm done with the game, substantial DLC might lure me back (emphasis on substatial, no prank pack, no alternate appearance pack), and I'm sure to play the game at least one final time - just a few weeks before DA2 will be released. Should be a good time to revisit Ferelden then.

Since ME2 lacks any replayability for me (however, the first playthrough was a blast!), besides an occassional Starcraft 2 Beta match and a game of Civ4 every now and then with friends, there isn't much to play for me right now.

Tried The Witcher, however the bad graphics (clipping errors everywhere) and the combat system turned me off, so, looking forward to Alpha Protocoll.

If you're into story, it's spectacular. The elven racism that BioWare tried to incorporate into DA:O is real and tangible in The Witcher. If can get past the bugs, and the hack 'n' slash combat, I'd highly recommend it. Kept me afloat in BioWare draughts.
