btw... the game was titled dragon age... which is the name of the time period it is set in .. which incidentally was because of a super-rare sighting of a real dragon just before the naming of the age. Yes, Bioware took advantage of your love for dragons with this innocent little twist; but it's explained away quickly.

What interests me about the marketing/game design is the "blood dragon" logo. I doubt it has any real correlation and is simply a marketing gimmick- but the possibilities are there.

i guess we're looking for high dragons. big tough ones... i can only imagine a soloer solos it. HAHA that would be the day when DA:O finally has a mod that bioware has no care for.

The name fits well with the story...IMO if EA and Bioware really wanted to sell out, they could have put half naked Morrigan or Lelliene advertisements flying around on the Archdemon. It is your opinion of course, you entitled to your own.

I think it fits the title because darkspawn seemed to be ruled by the archdemon, who happens to be a dragon. So the darkspawn are fond of the dragon, as if it were a king. In our real history in the world, sometimes Kings or Pharaohs who reigned have their own age in history. It is like a metaphor to a ruler of an evil kingdom... thats all.

its called dragon age because it is the age dragons are reborn or something like that, chantry or magisters in val roux (or however you spell it) said it was, i remember it was in the stolen throne

I dont know about the reborn stuff but in the stolen throne and in the codex it is stated that the age was named because when the age was to be named a dragon was sighted for the first time in hundreds of years.

Also on the topic dragons i've meet are.

Normal dragons
Elven ruins
Orzammar throne room

High dragon + dragon whelps
Urn of sacred ashes

Archdemon
End battle

dragon age.. because each new age consisting of a 100 years is named after a noticed event that happens prior to the age. and guess.. prior to this age.. people saw a dragon once again.

:)

and dragon in elven ruins is no real dragon dragon... bit a youngling... still was a cool fight

orzammar got dragons in throne room ?

I'm pretty sure it's marketting.  I'm still more used to seeing the old logo.

Not "a" Dragon but two Dragon flights.

It's called Dragon Age because that's the name for this period of time in the game's lore. In the lore it represents a belief of a time of upheaval, violence, etc. -- not Dragons being reborn.

It is named based on what is believed will happen during the age, not prior events. People did not see a Dragon, there were two Dragon flights, they ravaged the countryside and all attempts to hunt them down met with disaster. They were believed to have been hunted to extinction two or three hundred years earlier, it is seen as an omen and the this age is believed to be a pretty nasty time.

I know of the High Dragon on sacred ashes quest, Flemeth, the Archdemon, one in the elven temple (not a boss). There may be more. I think there's only 3 boss dragons though.

I agree, plus lets not forget that the Dragon in the sacred urns quest was essentially trying to replace Andraste.  Remeber the story of the Elven Gods....how the Trickster non-God Dog tricked the real gods into imprisoning themselves?    The Dragons are not Gods....but perhaps found a way to usurp the real Gods in a similar manner in an attempt to replace them.  IT would fit in with what little we know about Flemeth and the ArchDemon.

I would bet that there is a 'good' god and a 'bad' God, and the Dragons the non-Gods with almost Godlike powers that either got caught in the middle or took advantage....perhaps even taking sides.

I don't get the feeling the Flemeth is evil....just old, bitter, and cynical.  I would place money that the ArchDemon is somehow connected to her....perhaps her lost lover or husband.   I suspect the ArchDemon and Flemeth are immortal in similar ways, and the Blight and Flemeths manipulations to form a counter to the blight are part of a centuries old struggle between the two.

Morgans actions in the end are possibly an attempt to break the cycle...or to ensure one side or the other a better chance at victory.  Flemeths comments "A lie I have been told....and told many times myself" regarding Morrigans story about Flemeths intent for her lead me to belive Morrigan was not being truthful when she discussed Flemeths plans for her.

We're not actually sure Flemeth is a dragon, so don't put all your money on that.

OK, but how many did the URN quest but actually didn't fight the dragon? I refused to do the task that the cult leader asked me to do and fought his men right then and there. Upon entering the mountaintop, I saw a cut scene with a dragon, but never fought him. I was able to enter the temple, speak with the guardian, and proceed to the tests. The dragon didn't even try to fight me on the way out.

We aren't sure she isn't, either.  People are assuming she is a human who shape shifts into a Dragon.  It could most certainly be the other way around.

It is far too conveniant that she becomes a Dragon, if in fact she isn't one.  Especially given all of what litle we know about her.

You can loot on Kolgreen an item which will let you call the dragon outside.

You pick up a horn from the cult leader.  Blow the Horn close to the sleeping Dragon, and get ready for one hell of a fun fight.

^^^^^

Aaah, OK. Yeah I did remember picking that up. I may restore a save game from that point just to see what the fight was like. I am already finished with the game, however (first playthrough).

So in the end I really only fought 2 dragons. The ArchDemon & Flemeth. Flemeth was the only real challenge ...

EDIT: Actually I've got a save from just before entering the Landsmeet.  Think I'll load that up and head straight back to the mountaintop to kick some Dragon tail!!!

I'd say more people are putting money on her being a dragon than not. I'm partial to that theory myself. For all we know she could be Andraste or the Maker himself. Wouldn't it be a laugh if the cult leaders were right and Andraste was alive?

Flemeth, like Morrigan, is a shapeshifter. She is not a dragon.

Unless you wrote the story you can't say that with certainty.  It is quite possible that she is a Dragon who shape shifts into a human as opposed to the other way around.

Wrong. She is a shapeshifting nug.

If you believe Morrigan's story, Flemeth was once a mage that bonded with a demon to gain her shapeshifting abilities.
