When I make a quest "active," no map markers appear. Also some quests, that involve following certain steps, like the Elven Ritual quest in the Brecelian Runes are giving me trouble. I've filled the Earthen Jug with water, but it won't let me put it on the Altar. Any suggestions? Or are the quests not suppose to be marked?

Some quests are not marked on the map, often ones that require some puzzle solving of your own, and in particular quests that aren't part of the main story line.
Why you cannot put the jug on the altar, I don't know. There should be a fitting "dialog" option when you look at the altar.
