Would anyone else want one of these?

Ostagar was great and all, but well, I'm already getting sick of being forced through it over and over again, and I can easily see being unable to get each character combination done because I just don't want to have to go through this part again.

With the rest of the game, its fun, you can choose what to hit first, and it will generally be different, based on your origin story, but nothing in Ostagar seems to change any of that, nothing that happens there will affect how your story goes in any way, shape or form, so why keep making us do it again and again and again?

Why not just allow a "skip tutorial" feature, that you can set on in your menu, after you finish your origin up, it goes through a series of cutscenes, showing what happened at Ostagar ( You arrived, you were sent into the wilds, you did your joining, the tower, and the dog and Alistar joining you ) and make it so right after your Origin you appear at Flemeths cottage.

I'm not saying this needs to be forced on everyone, I just would like the option to skip what is basically the tutorial to the game, a tutorial that will never change, and never have any affect on the rest of my story other then maybe one person commenting "Oh, didn't I see you at Ostagar?!"

Yeah, it gets very, very, very boring.

I've seriously gone through it like 7-8 times.

(I'm really OCD about my characters, and I usually trash them and get a new one)

Ostagar is definitely the new "Jon's Dungeon" that we must slog through to get into the non-linear portion of the game. The origins themselves are at least short and sweet (I've played human noble and elven mage so far) but Ostagar is mostly static except for a few variations in dialog based on race/gender. At least cutscenes can be skipped with the Esc key.

I mix it up a little bit by stripping two of my companions of their gear for certain reasons. I make a little extra money and get to enjoy mildly amusing cutscenes (apparently necklaces are required smallclothes items; can't be showing too much collar bone...).

The thing is, Jons Dungeon wasn't so bad, because it was quick, it was about the same length as one of the Origin Stories are, so it was never much of a super annoyence, it was just something you had to do, and gave you a chance to understand how your characters worked. Also, if you really just wanted to be done with it, you could just book it for the exit, and ignore all the other junk, which would turn a 45 minute intro into something like a 20 minute one.

Ostagar is much longer, taking anywhere from two hours, to maybe even three hours if you want to check everything out, and do all the quests, this is if your doing good, and don't die a bunch in the forests, or get stuck on the top of the tower, which will usually happen since at this level, you are missing alot of your major spells as a Mage, or missing most of your survival stuff as a Warrior.

Oh, I don't mind it all that much. I kind of enjoy seeing whether or not my character is strong enough to take out the ogre. If the character dies, I did something wrong.

Because I want to see the story, and take part in shaping it.

Nothing you do in Ostagar matters, its sole purpose is to offer a minor tutorial on how to manage party members, as well as give you a basic idea as to why you are doing what you do, but after you've done that once, you really don't need to do it again.

The rest of the areas have very unique things about them, you can choose to do whichever one you like first, you have a bunch of companions having different types of conversations around you, the fights are more challenging, your actions actually affect to world, and the story is really going on, in Ostagar, nothing you do changes anything, nothing you say matters, you could literally just start out at the hut with the dog given to you, and all the Codex entries, and nobody would be the wiser, add in the fact the NPCs in Ostagar say the EXACT SAME THING TO EVERY SINGLE class/GENDER/COMBINATION, and its just dull.

Think of it like this.

Your on your 8th character, excited to see how NPCs react to you, and wanting to play the game, you do a new Origin you've never seen before, and are excited to start the main overarching quest, and then suddenly, you get stuck in Ostagar, again, for the 8th time. and nothing has changed since the first time you were there.

None of the people mention your a dwarf, none of them mention your a mage, none of them seem to care your a female with a giant greatsword, nope, their job is to teach you how to play as a group, and show you what happens before the actual game starts.

Sounds fun, no?

***Post contains spoilers relating to Ostagar...***

The amount of times I've restarted characters I've become quite efficient at speeding through Ostagar. Though I'm beginning to like seeing Duncan killed over and over again :P After a while I'm hoping it becomes a deterrent so I stick with a character for a while.

Instead of asking to skip Ostagar, perhaps we should address the point that its too similar regardless of origin/gender/class etc. Maybe they should actually add to it, adding unique things for each character so that it doesn't seem so repetitive. Ive only played through it once so far and I rather enjoyed it, but if its exactly the same for each character combination I could definitely see that getting rather boring. Perhaps some DLC could take care of that!
