I really hope that you're not serious, because most of the comparisons you've made here are laughable.MerinTB wrote...
I hope you defend pornography and lolita hentai as ferverently as you are being an apologist of Twitter. Because it is obviously not the naked pictures or drawings that are ever controversial.

Do you know what twitter allows? It allows a bunch of tweens to have a popularity contest based on follower numbers, and to randomly share the pointless thoughts they may have at any given time. That's. About. It.
It isn't about comparing, say, nuclear weapons to Twitter.
It is about applying your argument "the tools aren't the problem, people are" to other things that are just tools, that if used in "the right way" they are benign at worst and beneficial at best.
I'm not saying Twitter is like a virus -
I'm saying that saying Twitter is just a medium for communication is like saying a virus that glows blue in the dark is just used for illumination.
Do you get how comparisions work?
You can nitpick anything to make anyone seem ridiculous. The old cliche, "like comparing apples and oranges", loses its intended meaning if you really do mean to compare different kinds of fruits.
I'm attacking your logic, the_one_54321 - your logic of "Twitter cannot be blamed, it is just a tool."
It is not my intention to say Twitter is like a gun.
It is my intention that saying the bad things from Twitter are not because of Twitter is like saying that gunshot deaths are not because of guns.
You understand, or are you going to try and be more obtuse?

Call me old-fashioned, but i still prefer the old face-to-face methods (y'kow... Talking). Obviously i'm using an internet forum to communicate right now, but only because my friends are too far away.
Just my 2 cents

What i hate about Twitter? It's existence. Few times in my life i've seen something so useless and without meaning. I mean, in 10 or more years people will be sending "tweets" to the ones sitting across the table.

10 years? I hang out with people who flippin' text each other while we are talking amongst ourselves. You know, 3-6 people around a table either playing board games or role-playing or just talking, and two or three or four of them are texting EACH OTHER during the conversation or game or whatever.
That drives me crazy to no end. It's as stupid as passing notes, or IMing on two laptops while sitting next to each other. And I have seen people do that too.

I'm with you man.
The internet as a whole gave us the hability to communicate throughout the whole world, yes. (i have friends in Australia for example)
But in the other side, it's like we are slowly loosing our hability to communicate using our own voices with people located at less that 50 meters. Technology is good, yes, but i think we must avoid "teleporting ourselves" to inside the network.

I hate that it reinforces the texting generation. Texting on telephones is ridiculously stupid.

Well I'm not getting into this argument because it won't go anywhere. I'll state my view on it and leave it at that: tools are never the problem. People are always the problem. People make tools, people use tools, tools exist and are used because there are people. Take a tool away, and they'll find or make a new one. Tools don't cause problems, people do.MerinTB wrote...

I don't hate twitter, I just think the idea of a social networking site about the most minute and boring details of everyone's lives is the biggest waste of space thought of yet.
I don't call my friends, my parents, my boss when I eat jello or whatever, so why the hell would I want to inform the internet?
THIS...hehe
Twitter bores the hell out of me. I can just imagine if I was signed up to the Facebook or that other place.
Not for me, I don't find a use for them, maybe they are mostly for the younger crowd.
I used to use instant messengers and be signed up all over the place..when I first started on the Net. Finally I got fed up with being massively messaged all the time...and got rid of them all.
I prefer forums, I can not post or post..depending on my mood.

Twitter is like getting on the phone and calling (or texting) your friends to tell them what your doing right now. For some reason that is considered "wierd", but if you Tweet the same thing you're "cool" or something

I thought Google was going to buy out Twitter, but then they release there form called "Google Buzz".
They still might, they bought out Youtube dispite having Google Video. Twitter seems like it'd fit with Google's image.
