:wizard: Just a big thank you to all the people who have contributed with stories, pictures etc most excellent (bill&ted ) looking at it all. Think Bioware have got a easy job for the next game got enough ideas to work with :P not that they would pinch ideas with out saying where they came from :bandit::lol:.

Sure they would. They legally can since we're playing in their sandbox.

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned, BioWare owns every word I've written in my Dragon Age fanfics.

As nice as it might be to dream about that, they won't.  From a copyright standpoint, they can't condone unathorized use like that.  That's not to say individuals don't appreciate what some fans have done, or might not use other's ideas as inspiration, but it'll never be anything official.

Let's hope that they don't (except for LadyDamodred's fanfic of course).
No offense to the rest of the "fanficers".

Amazingly, they are able to give credit where credit is due. A guy named Kevin Dorner once patched the Jaheira romance in Baldur's Gate II. They bothered to mention it in the patch footnotes. Knock on wood.

Yeah, KoP is just a little bit biased. ^_^

Oooh, I has a present for you, KoP! I are writing some fic from Loghain's prespective. *grins*

Edit:  They can credit techincal things without any problems.  It's when you infringe on the intellectual rights that things get sticky.  They can thank the community and whatnot, or even hire members of the community, but it would set a very poor precedence to take ideas from an acknowledge works that infringe on copyrights.

To be honest, just knowing that they'd bothered to read or look at something I'd created would be a great feeling.

That sounded hopelessly fangirl, didn't it?

Ah well :).

Am I too late?

I second Lintanis, congrats to everyone, I have so enjoyed reading all the FF and looking at the wonderful art. There are so many talented people on the Community Creations board, it would be impossible to name them all.

Also a big thanks to Bioware for letting us play with their toys. There aren't a lot of companies out there that actively encourage FF and art based on their ideas.

What Tanith said, and Lintanis said. Sorry if my post was doofy. I did not sleep well and I am not on my A-game. All right Tanith, speaking of FF and posting here, where is my next fix? : )

Love looking at the artwork and reading all the stories on here and on the fanfiction.net website. Amazing how many excellent stories people have managed to write about this game just shows how much depth the world and the characters in it have. wonder how many stories Dragon Age 2 will have? ;)

Just a quick wonder on why there isnt a section like this in the Mass Effect forum, Is it the characters not lending themselves well to Art and Stories?? :)

I don't know, but there is a ton of artwork on at least the Tali thread, so it should be room for an artwork forum there too.

Honestly guys? Know what I realized today when I was driving in to work?

(this is based off of a couple recent heated debates over the subject of fanfic that I've read recently)

The fact that Bioware/EA condones this kind of thing (putting a forum up on their corporate owned website would constitute condoning, yes?) means that they don't intend to use these characters anymore*. If they did, I doubt they'd allow it so openly. I know that'll make some people happy, but me? Not so much. :crying: Oh well.

Where this kind of thing gets sticky is if someone hits on a plot point that Bioware wants to use in the future, and the person who wrote it can then try to legally get BW to pay them for the idea. Then we enter into Lawsuit Territory, and well yeah. Fugly stuff happens.

Whatever they're planning will involve characters we either haven't met yet or are related (see: GodBaby) to the ones we know. The existence of this forum, to me, proves it.

If they're reading, it's for purely recreational purposes only. Just like you and me.

*Someone mentioned upthread the lack of a similar ME forum.  That too falls under my logic, I think.  They intend to use Shep again.  The DA crew?  Not so much.

Yes because no one else has written anything of merit at all...  *runs to tell Crisium that*

No fangirlie, just honest :)  And I know they do read and they do comment on some stories, at least in PMs.  And that is all I'm gonna say about that :D

Yeah, it kinda sucks.  I mean, I could be wrong... but a lot of pieces clicked together in my head and that was the result.

Another piece of my logic that I didn't mention which lead to my conclusion was reading an interview with David Gaider online the other day (bugger it all, I don't know where it is now) where he was talking about Awakening pre-production... in early 2009.

That means, if the insert we got with Awakening referrs to the sequel (I have a hard time believing it means
anything but) and not another expansion, it would have had to have been in production for quite some time now.  And that, to me, means a whole different setting and different characters.  I suppose I could be wrong on that, but it casts a lot of doubts from my POV.

I don't think so, to be the optimist in the mix. I think the reason we have a forum here is because of the huge volume of fanfic and art that Dragon Age has produced. I know Mass Effect has a lot of stories as well - but it's been around for longer and DA has out produced it already. And considering the popularity of the characters, I can't see them abandoning them.

Also, apparently David Gaider has said in another thread that we haven't seen the last of Morrigan - so there's one carry over!

The Bioware staff have been enjoying the Stories to see a few comments from them :)
