[Throw_this_away]

I will pipe my one major beef with Jacob that turned me off right from the start. Any time my femshep went to talk to him on a personal level... she pulled the "I want in your pants" voice. I laughed SO FRIGGING hard the first time... but after that, it just got annoying.

I can understand how it might bother you.    It always annoys me when Irish characters on TV, in films, or in games are so clichéd and stereotyped that no one likes them. 

How does Jacob act like a stereotypical TV "black guy"? The only thing you could possibly look at that way is his stupid "gravity is one mean mutha" line. One of the few redeeming features the character has is that he doesn't conform to any "black" stereotype, he's just the former Alliance dude who salutes a bit too often. As for the suspicion that the hatred for him somehow has something to do with most gamers being white males, I'd say the guy who just accused all whites of being racist is the real racist here, and besides, it seems to be mostly the women who don't like Jacob because his romance subplot is poorly written. I don't mind him, really, he's just a boring, bland boyscout and his abilities don't suit my play style, so I don't use him.

And the face model isn't particularly well done. His eyes look like weird wedges and his mouth looks off too. Nothing to do with the fact that he's black and everything with him being the town mayor of Uncanny Valley City. Sorry.

BS like this "you just don't like him because he's black and you crackas are all racist" argument does nothing but play into the hands of exactly the racists who are always crying about how popular culture is forcing the "black/gay/[insert minority here] agenda" on the "poor oppressed white man".

1. People complain that Shepard alway's gets all the love and they think it's stupid that nobody else does.



2. So much Jacob hate, the guy need's love.



3. It could just be a crush? It dosent mean she loves him, she probably just find's him attractive.

I guess I wasn't very clear!  The most typical way for Irish characters to be portrayed badly is for them to fall into shallow and outdated cultural stereotypes.  But I wasn't saying that Jacob is portrayed as a stereotypical black character - just that he is a black character who, in my opinion, is not portrayed with anything near the level of writing skill that Bioware lavishes on the rest of the ME2 squad.  I actually agree that one of the few redeeming features of his character is that he didn't have much in the way of black stereotype.

OK, I don't know why they brough in the culturest crap. Jacob's black so what? My problem was he was the only black guy on the ship. I mean where did you see any other black people on the ship. What bout more krogans, salarians, quarians, asari, Drell, Volus, I mean heck,. What it sounds like to me is bioware is just plain racist to all alien and human life. Those bastards!

How dare jacob be black. Why couldn't he be mexican. What about Indian. Or my favorite Cuban.  I mean kasumi's japanese, but why couldn't she be chinese or Thai. Wait they couldn't make her korean. Bioware I'm so disappointed in you for not thinking of all these ethnic groups you are all racist.

As a matter of fact. I think jacob should have been black with REd hair. This way hes irish too.

Interesting. You should stop by one day and give the answer when all the theories die down. It is very cool to see you guys write romance outside of Shepard him/herself. It makes it all seem more alive. Previously it felt like Shepard was the only eligible bachelor/bachelorette in the galaxy.

On-topic: I don't mind this issue at all. With such a big team on board, it's only natural some characters develope their own tastes (in this case: Kasumi and Jacob). Makes the crew feel a lot more realistic imo. I wouldn't advocate that the entire crew should start getting it on with everybody though, as it would take a lot of power/flair away imo.

Off-topic: Kasumi just wants to claim the priiiiiiiiiiiiize. x)

I'll just read this as meaning that there's more backstory to Kasumi than we've seen so far, and hopefully that means we'll get more content featuring her. And that makes me very happy.
