I've just went back to play ME1 again.
I loved the first playthrough of ME2 with my imported Shep, seeing the little things from ME1 like Gianna Parisini on illium, the rachnni queen speaking through an asari, conrad verner, the asari scientist, it felt like my game, even if they were only minor things.
But my second playthrough of ME2 I didn't enjoy as much.  It didn't feel like my character.  The ME1 decisions weren't there and the 6 big follow throughs (Ashley or Liara, Ashley or Kaiden, Kill Wrex, Udina or Anderson, Council live or die) are already made and stuck, regardless of which kind of character you become.
So I went back to ME1 and found myself falling in love with the game all over again.  I've powered through in 12 hours, but have made my decisions for ME2.
I chose Liara as LI, left Ash to die on Virmire, Saved Wrex, Chose Anderson and saved the council. Also, with choosing a different style of character - Colonist Sole survivor, Vanguard - I found a few different things happening in ME1 that have again sparked my interest and I'm looking forward to seeing how they pan out soon!

Anyone else enjoying going back to ME1?

Haha, I just went back to ME1 the other day as well. Although I can't shake the habit of trying to reload and pressing space bar to run lol

I have only completed ME2 three times. Since I bought ME2, I have completed ME1 2 times and I am in the middle of a 3rd play.

Yea after going back to ME1 i kept randomly launching grenades (R button). And creating a Shepard in ME2 is just not the same thing as importing him.

I've replayed twice since ME2's release for the same reason - I like seeing the different choices and backgrounds show up in ME2.

My current playthrough is so I can import a renegade into ME2. He has the colonist background and is ruthless. I'm playing him as ruthless in the sense that he's focused on getting the job done regardless of cost rather than ruthless as in a total jerk. He's still nice to his squad and he let Shiala live as she promised to help the colony.

He's pretty rude to the council, though.

This is my fourth play through ME 1 since ME 2 came out. Yeah, that threw me off when I went to go back to ME 1. I kept hitting R to reload and kept throwing out all my grenades ;)

Heh, I haven't tried doing that to the Council yet, but it sounds like fun and since I'm going Paragade this time I'll see.

I did a playthrough of ME1 after completing ME2 the first time. I wanted to see if I could pick up more Renegade points to transfer, but that tends to be difficult for me because I don't like being a dick. But that Shepard did end up being one of the more hardcore I've tried, so I was happy with it. Until it came time to save the Council. Every fabric of my being told me "Concentrate on Sovereign! Concentrate on Sovereign! You never save the Council!" But I clicked on saving the Council. So my almost-Renegade ended up doing the one Paragon thing that almost all my Paragon Shepards wouldn't do.

If you're on the PC and want to avoid another play through you could try http://www.masseffectsaves.com/ They have a pretty good selection of ME 1 saves with the choices and levels listed out.

I personally really didn't like the default choices for ME2.

Going through ME1 again. The old combat system is taking some getting used to. :-p

yes, now I need to tap the spacebar button instead of the shift button

the ctrl button actually has some use

and my index finger always reactively presses the r button without me realizing it

You could always just keep importing the same Sheperd over and over, I've imported the same on 3 playthru's on ME2, just changed the class and played each one out different as I went along.

I've never seen that "masseffectsaves.com" site before, very cool, I'll have to check it out.

hehe, this was happening to me as well. I might even end up changing the controls so that they will be closer in both games.

I certainly do not enjoy the gameplay of 1(Oh die Mako, DIE). But I cannot put myself to play the default shepard in 2.

So if I want to start again, I would have to start in the very beginning, which is 1. :(

But ME 1 do have some excellent moments that is worth watching. (Joining of the spectre, political drama, elevator banters).

I think ME2 was kinda designed to be almost annoying to play without playing ME1. I mean, no one actually chooses Udina. Wrex is one of the most popular guys and he was killed off. you don't run into Shiala or Rana, my favorite asari to run into.

I actually got disgusted playing a new character in ME2 and went back to ME1 to do things proper.

yeah pressing 'e' instead of 'space' to activate things too, space instead of left shift.. heh

I went back and played 3 in a row to get my shep to level 60. It makes a difference importing a level 60 character. So I finished a run of ME2 with the level 60 character and now back to ME1 again.

You can choose Udina or Anderson on the ****tle. I wish they could have added some of the other ME1 choices as well at that point. However it was too late for some, considering the ME2 introduction mentions several key choices.

Yeah it is like they chose all the most unpopular choices for the default. However, the Udina / Anderson choice is changeable when you are being questioned on the shuttle with Miranda and Jacob. I chose Udina just to see what he's like as the boss on the Citadel.. lol

In my playthroughs to get to level 60, I went straight to the mission spot on each world and skipped all the anomaly and mining stuff..It went a little faster. That and on ym second and third playthroughs I didnt bother with looting at all.

I had a similar experience with ME2 and my main Shep that I imported.  Afterwards, I created another character in ME1 and went through the game in casual mode to get the story and decisions rather then combat challenge.  I enjoyed ME1's story, characters and game world a lot and importing my Shep to ME2 just made ME2 feel a lot better.  Cohesive and ''my game''.

Yeah I can't stand the gameplay of 1 either. Since I already have all of the achievements, if I am running a Shepard through 1 again, all I pay attention to is the story. So I set the difficulty to Casual and sprint through the combat scenarios. ^_^

After playing ME2 with the awesome cover system, the ME1 cover system is horrible. I keep pressing the A button to get into cover. :/

I only played a borrowed copy of the first for about 5 hours before skipping straight into the second. After 5 wonderful playthroughs of ME2 I finally went and bought the first...

I've done one round of the ME1 and loved everything (though obviously from a technical standpoint it is much lesser), so I'm doing another. It's a great game and I'm looking forward to playing ME2 with my imports.
