Bioware, I really don't understand your obstinance at making your games Games for Windows - Live compatible. If you had, I would have purchased the PC collector's edition instead of the 360 one.  In fact, I would have purchased BOTH versions. Now, I'll just be sticking to the 360, even though I have a high end PC, and was originally a PC-only gamer.  Nowadays, I happen to like padding my gamerscore, thank you very much.  I appreciate PC games that let me contribute to my universal gamerscore/achievements.  Don't tell me you have your own PC achievements system, that's just silly.

Why should I give support to your PC games when PC games like Fallout 3, Red Faction, etc are all Games for Windows - Live compatible? I bought Fallout 3 on PC and 360 at full price so I could enjoy it on both and get 2X the gamerscore.  You really have to get over yourselves at being anti-Microsoft.  It's worth the investment to make your games GFW - Live compatible, as you will increase sales!  Unless you think I am the only one with my opinion.  Unless I have no other option to play the game, I will ONLY buy PC games that are GFW - Live compatible.

I asked you on the BioWare forums over a year ago to make this a Games for Windows - Live title, but I guess you don't listen to your customers.  You also tend to delete viewpoints your don't agree with.  Hopefully you will prove me wrong this time.

Lol, get over your self. Bioware doesn't hate Microsoft or it wouldn't be on PC or 360. Gamerscore is meaningless so who cares?

This is just ignorance.  If they actually tried the latest version, understood it, and realized it was absolutely free for players and devs, they wouldn't hate it.  And it doesn't consume any more system resources than Steam does.

I think you need to take a step back from being an achievement ****. You chose a version of DA:O that is, on the most part, inferior, so you can accumulate points for no other reason but to just accumulate them?

Outside from you, I have not seen a single complaint about DA:O not being GFW-Live. Mainly because that service suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks for PC. Live belongs on only one thing and that's the 360.

I didn't say they hated Microsoft.  But I have read in other forums that they didn't make it a GFW - Live title because they didn't want to follow some simple rules Microsoft had in place.  That's just being stubborn.  I really hope that the GFW - Live enabled Fallout 3 sells more copies than Dragon Age on the PC.  Maybe it will give them some food for thought.

Maybe they listened to me. I don't like "Games for Windows - Live " nonsense so generally avoid it. Thanks Bioware.

I'm very thankful DA:O doesn't use GFWL, given how much it screws up.

A lot of players hate it. It's and intrusive program that often limits modding potential. For instance, Fallout 3 mods require that GFWL be disabled by a third party app. You can't even save in GTA4 without it.

If your whole driving force behind playing games is your gamerscore, than ummm, just wow. Ironic though. When Fallout 3 was released and was discovered to use GFWL many PC users HATED that. In fact, there were a couple of mods released just to get rid of or disable it. So yea, good luck with your rant anyway.

Have you even tried the service on the PC, recently?  Or are you just being a sheep jumping on the hate bandwagon? I find that it works perfectly well and had plenty of benefits.

It took me 4 hours to get GFWL to work properly with Batman AA. After the initial set up it probably only ever worked 40% of the time.

I thank the Maker Bioware didn't use it! Their client seems fairly robust at the moment.

You could argue Steam is an intrusive program as well, it also requires being on all the time when playing, and it consumes resources similarly (I compared them on my own PC).

You DO make a very valid point about modding potential.  If BioWare would come out and say that the reason they did not support GFW - Live is because Microsoft would prevent end user modding and use of their tool set, then I would be on BioWare's side and would agree with them. But they have made no such statement.

Another one hating GFWL on the PC. It's basically another form of buggy DRM without proper recourse when something inevitably goes wrong: a useless cycle of talk to Microsoft/talk to the publisher/talk to the developers.

I stopped playing long ago, but I still can't log into DoWII multiplayer because GFWL thinks my steam version has been activated too many times (reinstalled once... that's too many now?) and I wasn't the only one having that issue. I just couldn't be bothered to keep pursuing it. But the real kicker was that the developers didn't even know at first that GFWL enforced its own DRM scheme (on top of Steam's) - their intent had been to just use it for matchmaking.

Long story short: if I need to log into GFWL on PC, I'll pass on the game.

Sure have.  I had an itch to play a little Fallout 3 a couple of months ago during one of my holidays from work.  I re-installed it, patched it up, and tried to login through GFW-live so I could try and get a few achievements.  Wouldn't let me login or recognize Fallout 3.  I tried for hours to get the damn thing to work.  Finally I just got fed up and played through Fallout 3 again in a offline mode.  It's just a nightmare.

I find that hard to believe, as it took me minutes to set up and has worked for me flawlessly every time.

What can I say, the guy really likes padding his gamerscore.  I think it is awesome that he isn't ashamed to admit that in public.

Benefits like what? Padding your gamerscore? Oh gee, so great for showing them off online right? <_<

GfWL is extra overhead that doesn't add any real feature.

This is all false.  First of all, GFWL is not any more DRM than Steam is.  It's the same concept.  The game is tied to your account.  It's FAR less DRM intrusive than say, Spore was.  You can re-install a GFWL title as many times as you want, its like Steam, in that its ACCOUNT driven. If there really was some install # restriction that had nothing to do with GFWL, but probably a bug in the game or the publisher doing something extra not part of the GFWL mechanism.

You bet I do!  I will admit it kind of ruined me in a way.  I have a hard time playing games that don't have them now, and I even had a hard time playing PS3 games until they introduced the Trophy system.

Have you played online with any games that have GFWL ? I have and the game disconnects almost all the time from GFWL and often screws up fro achievements on it, while on the xbox 360 thats connected to same modem never disconnect. Also the pc version only allows you to install the game 10 times before you have to contact them to reset the activations
