I honestly only used Adrenaline Rush and Incendiary ammo the entire time. I'd occasionally use Grunts loyal power when I knew I had time between fights, but it's not even that important. Just take cover, pop AR, kill 1 - 3 things, behind cover until AR refreshes, rinse repeat.
I will admit tho, the waves of crap at the end of Horizon, and swarms of husks were very challenging. I ended up just running in circles until AR recycled, popped that and killed a few husks, then returned to running around. All of this on insanity, I mean.

Give Flashbang a try, and if you can get it to hit consistently, then go for it. Me, I'll stick with Armor Piercing Ammo. I prefer a dead enemy to a crowd-controlled enemy every day of the week. And if I do need Crowd Control, I'll go with the Arc Projector.

Now? Flashbang. All the way.

Slam seems like an utter waste of points on a soldier because once you've stripped someones defenses you'll kill em in no time. And Inferno Ammo beats AP ammo due to the AE, DoT, stun and health regen stopper on organics.
OR the flashbang grenade now with the new DLC, haven't tested it as a bonus power yet but it sounds pretty awesome,

GSB, or any of the shield powers IMO, because they instantly refresh your shields to a 100%+, for times when you're out in the open and low on health; it's invaluable. And all you need is one point.

The Shield Boost on Geth Shield Boost, Fortification, and Barrier only lasts until your shields are gone. After that, you recieve no shield boost when your shields recharge. Not only that, but each one takes 12 seconds to cool down. Geth Shield Boost and Barrier can have that reduced to 9-10 seconds with the Tech and Biotic Cooldown upgrades, but Fortification benefits from no upgrades, so it will always take 12 seconds. This means that for 12 seconds, you cannot use Adrenaline Rush or Medigel, and that's really not a good thing. Especially for a Soldier.

Finished the game as Engineer, now i'm gonna try a soldier, but i'm not sure which bonus special attack i should take for a soldier. What would you recommend ?
Warp ammo. The soldier already has concussive shot,so something like slam or neural shock is a waste of points.

I love it more when Kasumi is using it.
Exactly. Inferno Grenade and Flashbang Grenade are nice powers, but they're even nicer with the obscene accuracy that Zaeed and Kasumi have when using them. I'd much rather have them use their Grenade power and take something that I can actually hit enemies with than fumble around with grenades myself.

Thing is, if a Soldier takes Slam, it's not for the damage, it's for the knockdown. It's an awesome way to take an enemy out of action while you focus on stripping off more defenses from others.
Once the target stands back up, you take him. Also, sometimes it saves a good amount of ammo, as after rank 3 or so in Slam, enemies bounce. Often off cliffs. As an aside, having Slam completely trivializes Mordins recruitment quest when turing the fans back on. When those Blood Pack heavies show up along the tops of walls with one of the fans turned on, hitting them with slam hauls them up and gets them sucked into the fans for an instant kill.
