I’m not trying to be a troll but I’m intrigued to see how many people that loved ME2, also loved Avatar.

I only say this, as I seem to be in the minority of those that thought it a very average film and hardly worthy of the 12 year absence and cries that cinema would never be the same again. Yes it was visually impressive but it was also desperately predictable. Dances with Wolves meets Apocalypto but not as good as either of those.

Yet with so many people/critics heaping praise on Avatar and now so many seemingly doing the same with ME2, it only enhances a feeling that I really must be separated from the majority of people.

Obviously I’m in the minority, and that’s fine, but it has been bemusing going through the ‘why isn’t everyone else disappointed with this’ for Avatar and then feeling exactly the same with Mass Effect 2.

Loved ME2, didn't like Avatar one bit. Pocahontas in space, whoop-di-****ing-doo!

Never really watched Avatar. Don't go to the theaters much these days. Perhaps I'll buy a 3D HDTV someday if the 3D they hype up so much are any good. Either way, when I do watch it, I'll just turn my brain off and watch the pretty special effects.
I heard the storyline was pretty one-dimensional and can be boiled down to "generic bad corporation comes to steal the native's resources."

If they wanted to that they should have just called up Shepard in the Normandy. He has become an expert at strip mining planets to pay for upgrades.

In my opinion Avatar is the best movie i've seen in several years, a simple but envolving story that has a beggining, middle and a decent end, wich is far more than i can say for most movies out there. The design of the world is amazingly done.

ME2 however should have been better than what it is, it's a good game but it should have been a great game.

I liked both, but I felt there were problems with both, although not glaring at least.

Avatar was certainly one of the better movies of the last several years. ME 2 is good but has virtually no replayability.

Loved ME2, hated Avatar.

I hated all of the lore and world design used in Avatar. The story, didn't care for it. Didn't care about the characters or the protagonist, and I hated the NaVi more than anything else in the movie. Really I was rooting for the humans toward the end, even though they were designed to be despicable violent redneck hicks.

Hmmph that actually makes sense to me now, I did get the feeling they were all rednecks.  Maybe thats why they are on Pandora..........its just like Louisanna or Florida to them.....

The only parallel I see is that one comic of a bored Commander Shepard probing Pandora from orbit.

In research projects, Unobtanium is used in Plot Devices and Political Commentary.

I wasn't keen on Pandora either except as a platform for jokes about backups and network topology.

I feel the same about avatar, but mass effect is genuinly brilliant. And as this is a mass effect 2 forum, not a avatar forum, so this thread is irrelevant.

Mass Effect 2 is awesome enough. But I need to say, after I saw Avatar, I thought it was Pocahontas for adults.

And The Matrix was Plato's the cave!

OH wait, none of you know what the cave is. But you DID see pocahontas as a 5 year old, so that clearly makes you critics.

Man, I don't care if a movie or game doesn't fit known genres or if it's not what people expected it to be. I just watch/play and enjoy and I enjoyed both ME2 and Avatar a lot. This doesn't mean that Avatar is a groundshaking experience but it is a good movie nevetheless. Same with ME2. It's not an iconic RPG, nor hardcore shooter but it's a damn good game.

This.  Loved them both, and I don't even feel bad about it.  Sorry.

I've played through Mass Effect 2 four times.

I never had the slightest desire to even go see Avatar because I know I'm going to hate it in every possible way.

Myth busted.

I liked ME2, but Avatar seemed like "The Ant Bully" with a larger budget.

Avatar = meh. Great way to blow a billion bucks, I guess.

Not a big fan of the lame lefty anti-military, anti-business, pro-tree hugging garbage the commies in Hollywood have been puking out forever.
