Sorta let down by this specialization.
Considering how much you give up when you shapeshift I was hoping for a bit more. You don't get more than 2-3 abilities and most of them can be replicated by a spell... aside from the bear being able to tank it really feels more constrained than anytihng.
Of course if you could turn into a Werewolf or something extra cool, i'd probably overlook all that, but spider and mosquitos? Nah.
I'm sure some people like it, but I think they could've done more with it.
Shapeshifter, just there for the RP look?

i thought the same thing, supposedly someone already made a mod to include a dragon form, but i haven't tried it or anything.
A werewolf mod would be cool but i don't think it would work with lore, seeing as how they are just cursed humans.

It's more of a versatility thing. For example, if you're low on mana and would otherwise have to resort to staff attacks, you could shapeshift instead and deal more damage and get a couple of special attacks. Also, the bear can tank a little, which can help in difficult situations. The swarm deals AoE, which again has situational uses.
Don't think of the shapes as something you'd always be in. They're spells like the rest, most are used when the situation calls for it.

Its much more useful on normal where you'll deal decent damage. When you low on mana its time to shapeshift.

I thought the shapeshifter specialization was really useful, especially the swarm. All Morrigan had to do was stand near enemies and they'd take damage.
