Bioware used sex appeal! The cinematographer is a bad bad man! Bioware lost my respect! Noes!

That must have been a pretty shaky pedestal if that's the standard you hold them to.

Anyway, when you look at what the modder's can do with miranda's model she doesnt look half that bad in armor.  Its just it kinda was a bit of a off moment when miranda is exposed to space, with nothing more then that mask and suit of hers, eyes not protected........

The fact remains Miranda's sex appeal should just be there. There's no need to shove it in the viewers face. It cheapens the character. (Especially when you compare it to the things she says later about how her father gave it to her and she feels that she didn't earn it on her own.) But of course its just sex appeal who cares what BW is trying to show about the character and how what she says and what the game shows contradict one another. None of that matters as long as people have something to drool over! <_<

Also: Nice overexaggeration of my points. That make you feel "manly"

So i read this really short interview between this journalist and Casey Hudson.  The journalist seemed to have a vandetta against Miranda's sexuality.  So I  thought... is it really that bad?  So i went to do some research (hey!  I guess that makes me a better journalist them 50% of video game reporters!!) <my bold>

I suspect you are vastly over-rating the amount of research done by video game reporters (and sadly regular print journalists as well) ;).

Reporters are generally ok with the news, remember Fox news orginally liked mass effect before the fiasco

The reason people are ranting about mature/controversial content in video games is that they don't take games seriously. And it's incredibly funny because even people who should (press and so called journalists) are assuming that video games were, are and always will be for kids... even if it's rated 18+...

If you have a movie that is rated as mature, parents won't take their kids to see it, but games? Who cares about ratings on games! Kid wants the game, kids gets the game. It's weird because serious people, who should back up their opinions with actual facts and knowedgle are making fools of themselves when they raid a video game because it shows blue sideboobs.

Yes, the main problem is exactly THIS, not "the stupid fan base"!

Games and Comics are perceived as a child thing, even "V for Vendetta" from Alan Moore, wich is very mature discussing topics like anarchy, terrorism, sexuality, the power of establishment and so on, is viewed that way.

If you don't like the story or the discussion in the comic is another thing, but the content is not for a child.

That's all the rant about ME2 or MW2, wich was almost banned in Australia.

And both are rated M.

So much for freedom, hun?

As for the nakedness, take the movie "American Psycho", for instance. 90% of the time Cristian Bale is naked and his body is exploited to the death.

The movie is directed by a woman, BTW, so I think the "explotation of female body" is an rather invalid argument.

Men AND women like nudes and since nudes sells...

Look at the propaganda today, men and women are naked all the time.

About Jacob, common, that's a lot of angles focusing solelly on his butt or crotch.

Only blind people don't see that. ;)

It's interest that Miranda outfit doesn't let anything for imagination, but I've found the black leather uniform much more sexy than the white one. :D

Excuse any errors, english is not my primary language.

Actually thinking about it would have been pretty cool for Miranda to have used her sexuality to persuade the guy who hired Kolyat in Thane's loyalty mission. The game sort of implies Miranda uses her outfit/looks to trick others but it never actually shows it. I'm sure Bioware knew what they were doing when designing Miranda (going with the femme fatale archetype obviously), but they didn't really show it clearly to the player in the game.

It's just part of a larger problem in ME2, which is the lack of party member interaction. It would have been nifty for conversations to turn out differently depending on the squad member, something which is hardly seen in ME2 but pretty common in Dragon Age. Hopefully it will be implemented in Mass Effect 3.

EDIT: Don't we see manipulation of our appearances everyday? An attractive male or female will certainly act differently, sometimes using their appearances for their gain. I might just be using stereotypes here, though,

That see would be awesome. So if you had Miranda with you she could seduce X character into giving you benefits if they happened to be male. Things like that would add replayability and would show Miranda as actually using the outfit to her advantage.

Edit: yes of course people use their looks to their advantage. Tis no different than one using their intelligence or other resources.

I would hope that should Bioware implement something like this, it actually effects the journey to the end result rather than how some Paragon/Renegade decision are: essentially two ways to the same result with little difference.

EDIT: It's somewhat of an interesting idea that those close shots of Miranda were intended to draw the player, and thus Shepard, into trusting her. It might fall flat since FemShep sees the same shot, but given how many males play FemShep, it's still somewhat of a valid point.

It's stupid fanservice. I don't think anyone can rationalize that kind of getup in any context.
As for multimedia in general, yes, it has a history of exploiting the female form.

There is some pretty ironic stuff in there. First, it's easy to rationalize. It's hard to feel threatened by a hot chick in rubber suit. You let down your guard, and bang, end up getting fragged. Or she could use it to influence people without the need of a gun at all.

And it is women who have historically exploited the female form. Don't get it twisted.

True. I should rephrase that.
"I don't think anyone can rationalize that kind of getup in any non-ridiculous context."
Your latter point is a matter of relativity. Have women taken advantage of the fact that their body might be in high demand?
- Naturally. But do you honestly believe that, for example, Megan Fox was cast in Transformers for her brilliant thespian skills?
I'm not saying the entertainment industry is this big bad wolf whom the poor, defenseless women must be weary of unless they want to suffer sexual objectification; indeed, this construct is constantly being renewed by men and women alike.
- But do you honestly mean to say that the western exploitation of women in media was generated by women?
