Except for the Qunari. I think they, for now at least, surpass the dwarves in terms of technology.

Nonsense! The Dwarves are much more advanced then those island dwelling, caste system abiding, constantly at war, giant jackasses!

Plus the cutest NPC in the game is a dwarf. Dagna is more cute than a box o' puppies. How can anyone be mean to her?

I was on my way eager to steal Nugbane.  She was in my way.  I told her to GTFO of it.:bandit:

One word for that: Cammen.

Seriously do I need to state another reason?

Yeah those giants may have gained the upper hand at least for gunpowder. But they haven't lost 80% of their cities to the Blight. They didn't even know what the Blight was. We've been a little preoccupied.

Nope, you're fine.
You can start a genocide with that as a reason, and you are justified.

They had to deal with Exalting lunies though. Posted Image

The dwarves have an abundance of natural ressources (like Lyrium). That definately gives them an advantage. In fact, most of their inventions are lyrium based, if I am not mistaken. We don't know if the Qunari are blessed with abundant natural ressources. Seeing how aggresive they are, I would say they don't have that much.
Plus, constant war is good soemtimes. Forces you to adapt and develop in order to survive.

And it's not only explosives. Sigrun didn't even know what "optics" means. Of course, it's maybe because she is a casteless, so has no idea about such things. But still, it seems to me that if the Qunari have developped optics, then they probably have become advanced in other scientific fields.

But in general, other than the Dwarves and the Qunari, the other races are primitive.
I personally support a Dwarven / Qunari alliance.

caste system abiding,

Yeah, that's a dwarven thingn as well and probably worse as far as they go as I don't think that the qunari refuse to allow their own people into their society because their ancestors had problems if they are willing to accept the Qun.

It all could have been avoided if there was just an option to murder-knife him WITHOUT making elfroot extinct.

But I don't think the Quinari would ally with anyone, at any point; their society doesn't seem to allow for it

Racism develops when there's an imbalance of power in merging cultures; the dwarves merge with nobody, therefore there is no racism

I think you should use predjudice rather than racism in this sentence.  Where there is no "racial" differentiation, the balance of power differnetial can still create predjudical social interactions with relatively dissimilar peoples.  An example is the social treatment of blue collar versus white collar individuals in a non-racially diverse setting.  Blue collar individuals, by virtue of their economic station, familial affiliation, or even type of employment can often be socially stigmatized.  Race is the first and regrettable the most obvious excuse, but it is not the only excuse.

Touche- though I was talking specifically about this situation, with elves, dwarves and humans
though I suppose the term "racial prejudice" more

Well, if the dwarves would start following the way of the Qun, they would be Qunari. Then they could join forces.

The Qunari caste system seems to be based on meritocracy though. Of course what one merits is decided by their council of elders. Which provides some form of social mobility (which is not based on your will however).
The dwarven caste system on the otherhand is hereditary. So there is no possible way for social mobility except through Paragonhood, or noble hunting.

Yeah, I was jut being facetious. Even if you're casteless there's always a hope to better yourself... The Qun you accept your station regardless.

Except for government, child-rearing, sex, philosophy and why people are put in their caste.

The only real similarity is the pride that is in being the thing you are (as seen in servant caste).

Edit: I managed to get double ninja'd damn you tabs *shakes fist*

I forgot where exactly, but in Origins, we do read that the Qunari have cannons and that they are advanced in explosives.

In Awakening, the dwarf explosive expert says it was the Qunari who mastered the art. And one of Sigrun's gifts is a looking glass created by the Qunari, showing that they are advanced in the field of optics.
