Yeah, the dumping scene is not nice and it's not any better when you go for the mistress ending (if you even can because hardening is another thing that you probably
would do naturally if it
wasn't such one crappy stupid line). I tried and felt very strange.
I never liked the Landsmeet and it's aftermath because it feels so damn inconsistent.
One little thing blown up to elephantastic proportions to reason a break-up, something that doesn't matter at all if you declare yourself queen or make Anora queen, something that sounds utterly stupid if you are a mage, elf or dwarf.
I always do this biiig hand-waving gesture and tell myself it's bad storytelling due to game mechanics and not really consistent charaterization.
Be wary if you choose to romance plot relevant characters. I heard Zevran's romance is very satisfying. Switch romance on, don't accidentally break up, live happily ever after.
Alas I'm a drama queen, I'll stay with Alistair and swoon over his good sides ... and the darkness underneath. Hrhrhr. Come to the dark side Alistair, we have cookies ... and lots of ale. ;-)
Edit: errant_knight is right, spare Loghain while in full romance with Alistair and
roleplay afterwards a heartbroken, furious PC on her way through Fort Drakon with an unwilling and annoying Loghain in tow - still hoping Alistair may come back. Awesome.
