When creating a character in games like this, for me its about what the will accomplish as a whole.
what kind for personality and class they have and what kind of specialization they are going to have if any.
So like with my avatar this is my mage who is going to be semi-evil and aming for the blood-mage specialization.

I've gone for the "out of his depth" approach to character design.
Whilst it is based on myself, I've used this expression to show that sometimes you can't choose who will become the hero.
Aiming to play this character as a quintessential underdog.

I know what you mean about making multiple characters. I promised myself I'd only make like, three or four but I'm beginning to go over five or sixArcalide wrote...
I think there might be something wrong with me. I keep creating new characters. well it should keep me occupied for the next few weeks til it's released. Just i was going back though and noticed that appart from the odd change to hair style/colour and tatoos they all look the same. Guess I don't vary character looks as much as i thought.
I usually try to make my characters very different looking from each other, but in hindsight I do keep a similar look for each character type in mind: my "good" rogue will usually have dark, spikey hair, always facial hair for my male characters, my female will have dark hair and sleek features (never make-up) etc. So even though they look distinguished from each other, I probably am remaking concepts that I did in ME or the RPG before that.

I think it's my way of making up for the fact I can't actually play DA:O, but it's as close as I can get.

I keep making characters in all games that give you several options for customising things. WoW for example I had like 30+ characters before I quit playing. I kept messing with looks in Oblivion, Have 4ish ME characters. Jeez i wish they would stop giving us so many choices we are soo spoiled. Just wish they gave options for adding warts or moles and freckles then i'd never stop making them. Infact I'd never get far in the game cos i'd just keep making characters.

I always make at least one character based on myself, and then the rest are a mixture of people I know in real life(I usually do this to challange myself to get better at the character creator) or just something that looks good.
