Since when did I call anyone names, or accuse anyone of any of those things? Please show me. You were the one accusing me of whining, which I wasn't doing. I'm not debating your points, most of which I agree with. You're the one that shouldn't be jumping to accusations. I was stating what I felt people were complaining about. The problem is that these perceptions are skewed towards the extremes - bids over 12k have been rather rare, and only on the top tier prizes. The second problem is that you have a large number of people competing for a limited number of prizes. Of course not everyone's going to win. I mean am I wrong in thinking that's not really a problem?exccw wrote...
No, I have over 9k, but I was speaking as a general summary of what people have been posting about, and my analysis of why it is so. And I'm not going for the top prizes, but have been trying to get referral clicks. Almost have enough to get those books! If you really thought I was whining, I would be much more vocal than that, trust me. But I'm sure you enjoy attacking anyone that seems to be complaining.
What do you expect this to be? Free stuff for everyone? I mean are people seroiusly surprised by the realization that 412 is a lot less than the number of people partcipating?
And then accusing anyone winning of cheating, or exploiting, and calling BioWare names for running the contest in the first place. It just sounds like being a sore loser to me.

p.s, to those honest, friendly and polite people who are real fans of BioWare and enjoy this site. Who have either been on this site for a while or are newcomers with good intentions, I salute you for being able to have fun with the auction without wanting to go on a killing rampage. Good luck, and I hope you guys win more great things before it finishes.
That's considering any real BW fans actually won anything in the first place. I feel your pain and am also somewhat disgusted with the way people can actually have 14K and above in tokens.
Well there are a number of real BW fans that won something. However it seems most of the people that won something never post on these forums, and don't own any of the games. Going around the net, there were posts for this bazaar at places like slickdeals, fatwallet, etc so there were a number of people that probably had no idea what bioware was, just that things would be given away for free. I even saw people that purchased google ads with their user id on it. So there were BW fans that won things, it just seemed that the larger items went to mostly people who are ghosts.

In that case my comments are just misdirected - and for that I'll apologize, but really I'm talking about the behavior in this thread in general. The whole "BioWare is just doing this to screw us and make money" commments, or "No real BioWare fan can win" stuff, and so on and so forth.exccw wrote...

It seems ridiculous to me that BioWare would run this sort of contest, with the intentions of running even more contests for other regions of the world, if their intentions were to screw their customers and make more money. Its just silly. Is there a marketing angle to this? Sure, but why does that have to be mutually exclusive of doing something cool for your fans?

I mentioned that in another thread; it would be a great idea, and could also be used for those worldwide who have tokens but couldn't take part in the auction. Though, I think it would be better to be separate from the BioWare Points, so it wouldn't detract from the purpose of those. Plus, many people have already bought all the DLC.DeathBringer Harkus wrote...
look guys i have an idea what if our amazing BioWare gives us a chance for those who didin't won anything to exchange their currect tokens into bioware points for dlc purchase? lets say 6k=600points eh? one dlc can be purchased?

I agree, it would be nice if the tokens could be put towards DLC, or maybe a game or two (I'd love a copy of Mass Effect for my 6k of points).

I agree, I don't think BioWare meant to anger people; it was originally a well-intentioned celebration. There probably was no way they could have foresaw the split reaction coming from the community. But as they say, live and learn. I'm sure BioWare will make things right for those who felt wronged in the long run. They're going to do contests for the international community too now, afterall. BioWare didn't mean to upset some of their fans, so their fans shouldn't be so quick to be upset either. I'm sure BioWare will take into consideration all the feedback and analysis for future contests.cynicalsaint1 wrote...

So ... If you've only been getting 50 clicks a day for 500 tokens since monday, and have all the tokens for game registration and for uploading a character you'd have ~12k. Consider that some people have won up to 7 twitter contests. So based on that you could potentially be close to have 15k by now with just 50 clicks a day, and winning a large number of twitter challenges. The Mystic CoH wrote...
I have to agree that I have no clue how people got 12000-14000 tokens. I mean I have been practically living on my computer the last 2 weeks for this and I don't even have 9000 yet.
Now consider some people have methods of generating referrals beyond the 50/day, like a popular blog, or having a lot of twitter followers, or friends on facebook, etc.
Its not so hard to imagine someone getting that high if you do the math.

But like Cris said its not BioWare's fault, so its not my fault I will think twice before buying something from them again ether. My feelings on this, not entirely fair in my opinion, auction system also helped my M.M. vote go to the big V rather then the big B.

I've usually loose contests, but at least when I enter them, I feel like I have a shot. The auction has felt like being told "You don't matter enough to enter this contest." I got enough of that kind of stuff in High School.
Anyway, that's my spiel on the matter. You can go ahead and criticize me for complaining, or just outright ignore me like everyone else does until they need help with their computer. I don't really care anymore.

This sentiment seems a little silly to me--Just because in your estimation the contest/givaway was run poorly doesn't mean that the games that the company makes are poor. Clearly if you're on the bioboards posting about stuff in the first place you're a fan of their games, and since the company has a fairly good track record of making good games--albeit with a few hiccups--your opinion of purchasing their games shouldn't depend on how well they run a contest. Now, if the National Lottery screwed up a contest, then I'd say that's perfectly ok to reconsider buying their stuff, since contests is what they do.
But yeah, top teir prizes are gonna be harder to get. Because there's fewer of them. That's what makes them rare. So the people who're reaaaaally dillegent are going to get them. I also think to generalize and call all of them 'spammers' or whatever is silly, as it discounts the individuals who really did use legit means of winning--devoted followers, friends/loved ones, and twitter wins (Like MackenzieShepard). If anything, people I've seen spamming the most are people who claim to have 7-9k =X
Overall I had fun with the auction. It kinda sucked to be so close to a PC without actually getting one, but such is the nature of these things. I had fun watching the auction prices, mapping out how much stuff was going for, coming up with weird twitter answers, and doing my best to promote the link. I had fun watching the point counts go up, seeing the weird things people were doing to get you to click their images, and even participating in these crazy debates. I kinda wish that img thing had been resolved sooner, but hey, it was done and I hope they'll learn from the mistake. One thing too is that I wish that there was a way to transfer leftover tokens to somebody. I know it'd probably be exploited if you could choose who exactly got your tokens, but like, I think if there was an option to just dump the leftovers into the community and have it evenly distributed somehow would be awesome. Cuz yeah, I have like 600 tokens leftover and I know even a little bit of that would make the difference for some people =\\

Sorry Lucy. People with thousands of tokens got involved. If you did not get as involved as they did, it is not their fault or ours.
Perhaps people did get involved, but our twitter answers were not chosen as winners, and we dont have as many internet fans/friends to click our links. So, some of us were left with less then 8000 tokens, even though we DID get involved and made an effort to participate, but unfortunately, this "auction" is not about the loyal BW customers, or those who simply "got involved." No, its all about those few individuals who spammed the hell out of the internet to direct traffic over to BioWare.
I love BioWare and the games they make, but this auction has pissed off alot of people in numerous ways, and only a handful of people are happy or excited about it, so if you want to feel content with appeasing a handful of people while pissing off many more, then more power to you.

I'm not saying they make poor games, hell I'm playing ME1 again on and off, and trying to enjoy awakening as much as I can. But for me it just doesn't seem overly fair. its ok if you think it is/was, I respect that, but you should respect that there ARE people who didn't find it fair at all. And never will.
For me, anology wise, think of it like a disney theme park. And when you got there they turned you away. Thats fine, the park was full of better connected people and had no room for me. I will continue to enjoy some of there products. but I just won't personally hold them in such a high reguard as before.
