I am almost positive this will be locked, but I need to have my voice heard.

1. Some of the people that are bidding on this auction have 14k. That is incredibly suspicious.

2. It's quite obvious through a little investigating that people have multiple accounts on here for their tokens. It's quite obvious, if you have a lick of intelligence.

3. This auction was for the community; i.e, fans, friendly people... now all it is, is a horde of money grubbers wanting free crap. As soon as this gets advertised, a whole lot of people come over and suddenly register their game. Yeah, sure.

No, this isn't me having a go at BioWare, I love BioWare. Their intentions are always to make everyone happy, even if they go about it strangely sometimes. It's me appauled at how selfish, greedy and downright upsetting some people on this forum are. This is a place where gaming fans and BW fans alike come to discuss good quality narrative, production and fun things. This isn't a spam fest where you post your referral link even in serious, unrelated topics. You don't post your referral link in a topic where some forumer is talking about his sick relative.

I can't wait for this to be over, because I am goddamn sick of it. I've never felt such hostility toward anyone on this site before.

To all those people who are bound to post their referral links after pretending to read my post, I cannot wait for you to leave. Go, get out. You give our friendly and fun forum a bad name.

p.s, to those honest, friendly and polite people who are real fans of BioWare and enjoy this site. Who have either been on this site for a while or are newcomers with good intentions, I salute you for being able to have fun with the auction without wanting to go on a killing rampage. Good luck, and I hope you guys win more great things before it finishes.

I understand exactly where you are coming from Lucy,  and the day that these things go away..can't come too soon.    My view of the whole thing up to now is..as a Canadian I got excluded from the get-go.

So the EPIC ..became unepic.   As for what people have been doing..spamming referral links left right and center...getting themselves banned on other sites, irritating and upsetting folks on other sites...to the detriment of Bioware's original intention.     This doesn't make them look bad, after all posters are in the millions whose gonna miss the spammers?  Nobody.

It DOES make Bioware look bad, however...example:   Someone who is from our forum and knows better ..started up a conspiracy theory over at the Escapist..that the ONLY reason Bioware was doing the mock auction was because of the contest going on at Escapist.

The two things never had anything whatsoever to do with each other..but this biased person persisted in spreading the hate.    Oh well.

In my daily life, I tend to forget..the seamy underside of things, but every so often, all I have to do is look at the Internet, and see..the selfishness, greed..etc  displayed by "certain" forum goers and others in general.

Hopefully in the future, there will be more well thought out contests...where the cheaters and the spammers don't walk away with the top prizes.

At least the Escapist...at the end of the showdown challenge took time to remove those that had cheated by creating multiple accounts.   Hence the long silence before the contest ended..as they were adjusting the votes to reflect the true numbers.

And I want to say this...BOTH sides did some cheating...just to clear that up.

Cheating doesn't get you anything...spamming makes you an incredible nuisance,  and thats a tame reference to what I really think of spammers...but anyway.

Again, spammers were not those who won.

The people with ridiculously high counts were likely people who have followers via youtube/streamsite/etc who could just plug in their referral in a video and get automatic thousands of clicks.

eh I'm tired, I don't care I'm a Floridian

And auto clicks were a violation of the rules....so cheaters Imperial.

And would it be fair that someone with a 10,000 friends on facebook has a better chance of wining than say me with 15 friends?

That sucks lixard eggs, and to say the competition was fair is an absolute joke (know you didnt, im just throwing that out there)...

If Bioware do something equally dumb and unfair for future competitions my voice will be heard....

I don't think that its impossible for some people to get the high token numbers we are seeing at the auction. While i am sure some people used dubious ways to increase their tokens i don't think everyone that has a lot did.

The only problem i have with the auction is that it is more biased towards people with no lives than it is towards hardcore bioware fans. I own just about every bioware game, i love this company and just about everything they do. I was excited about this chance to win some bioware prizes and happy that they wanted to give to the fans. but i don't think they went about it in a very fair way. i work full time during the day. so i have missed almost every twitter challenge. i was lucky enough to be able to answer 5 and even more lucky that i was able to win 2 of them. also i am not a very big forum going person and i have way more friends outside of the internet world so i had a big disadvantage with the referral links as well. i did post them on forums here and there and i managed to get about 1500 from them. so after managing to win a few challenges and getting more referrals then i thought i figured i was doing pretty well and i was hoping i would at least be able to win a hoody or something. But i have not even been close. the fact that all but one auction has gone to someone with over 9k is pretty frustraiting.

As i said before, i am very happy and thankful that bioware is willing to give gifts to their fans. but i think they need to do it a little more fairly in the future. possibly with something more like a raffle. they could still have challenges and referral links but they should go towards purchasing raffle tickets. so people can still put the effort into gaining an advantage through buying more raffle tickets but the people who also love bioware but just don't have the time to put into something like this will still have a chance. anyway, thats my rant

Aren't you being hypocritical? It seems you are in this thread complaining about her complaining? It boggles the mind, really.

That said, if they ever really do a contest for those who could not participate, I'm not sure if I'm going to participate if its another auction where I will be forced to **** myself out for some clicks.

I'm with you on your last stated paragraph Chilztri,  I have already decided that.."when and if" they decide to include us Canadians..I will not participate in the token whoring.     I have my referral link...and its just there kind as a participation thing and an experiment.   To date..not having spammed, and not having begged I have a little over 6K tokens.

I can't participate currently, and now it pretty much doesn't interest me for the future.

Marketting needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out where they went wrong.   Encouraging our members to go out and spam the world..thereby peeing off every website owner there is...is NOT good advertising for Bioware....no way no how.

These contests should be exclusively for game owners......and kept to the Bioware site itself.    That way its more fair..and you won't see someone with 40k tokens (yeah I heard about that one).

a Problem there though Fera (and I bet my life Bioware has not thought of this) is that we have longer to collect tokens lmao....

So can bid higher for the better prizes etc.....now even though we all in the same boat that way....you can bet your life people will moan because we had more time to collect...

Seriously, anyone who thinks this whole thing was a good idea needs to go and do some marketing classes. WTF Bioware were thinking as a company their size is beyonfd me, my 5 year old nephew could have organised it better.

Sadly that's not possible in many cases, laws in many places force the "No purchase necessary" rule into contests like this.

If you think the tokens from this contest are going to have anything to do with the next, you're quite crazy. When BioWare starts the next one up, 1) It probably won't be the same exact scheme as the US one, seeing as it was other countries'/states' laws that caused the exclusion. 2) Everyone participating in the contest will start from 0.

How would someone have cheated to get the points? You can't transfer tokens between accounts, the twitter challenges are random...so where would the opportunity come in?

Yeah sure cynical (you really should start being like your username rather than what you are like)...

If id have said 4 years ago that Bioware would sell their soul, they would release numerous unbelievably buggy games, screw up dlc constantly and then host an epic comunity wide event that is only for 10% of the community...

You would have called me crazy back then too wouldnt you?

We shall see eh?

I am expecting to see all tokens wiped for the next contest..that includes people other than the 48 states.  Of course,  being that the 48 states got the first contest, they'll be in the second and third..etc.   How do you not include them,  so expect some flaming about that too.

Just wasn't a good plan......Bioware.    Fairness above all, when you do these things for your fans.

I don't think its been asked yet. Undoubtably some people cheated (tis' human nature to do whatever you can to get ahead of others), even with alot of legit wins, probly even most, what are they to do with people whom found to have won that were illegitimate/they're prizes? More raffles where i can **** a link to the masses? Cause i don't think i'll win that contest either haha

I found it extremely disappointing and counter productive. I would like to throw this out there though. I really don't think it was BioWare's idea. It just doesn't seem like their style. I am far more willing to blame it on EA then BioWare

What I want to know, however, is what happens to all the tokens after it's over.  I managed to pull together 8950, which is a minimum 500-1000 short of having any chance of winning even the crapiest of prizes.  Do I keep them?  Do they get transformed into something else?  BioWare points would be nice even at 10-1.  Do I just lose them, making this entire endeavor a monumental waste of time and effort?

Well I remember the first time a computer went up, one of the bids got DQ'd, so I assume they're investigating the winning bids to the best of their ability and DQ'ing those that can be proven to be cheating. I suffered a huge token penalty for my involvement with the whole img-tag exploit thing, so they're definately keeping their eyes open.

Probly just lose them, i don't consider any of the winnings crappy thou. Some are of less value then others but, if i won a dragon age inflatable sword i think i'd be pretty stoked :o. Im hoping that the 5million people with 10k points hoping to get electronics will leave instead of bidding on stuff they will not use so i can have a chance at getting the DA books, i have lost all hope, but will still look on curiously.

EDIT:

Actually, i have any idea for another contest, no $1,000 + prizes, there for there will be less likely people to exploit the system. Have the same kind of contest for alot of cheaper things, but big prizes are completly random lottery. Therefore people with no life can't just say one day "I'll finally go to the bioware forums cause I can win thousands of dollars" and reap the benifits instead of actual bioware fans  : (. Then people who try they're best can get some pens or T shirt or game maybe, and some "lucky" people will get some kickass swag.

Read my thread. Straight from "Evil" Chris. USE THEM OR LOSE THEM. Thats right, at the end of the auction you lose all of your points if you don't use them on an item.

Sorry Lucy. People with thousands of tokens got involved. If you did not get as involved as they did, it is not their fault or ours.

By involved you mean who can spam the most?

Did he suggest how? Since I don't twitter, facebook, myspace or do any other social networking, I'm left with the maximum base 5950 Bioware tokens for being an actual Bioware customer. So far these Bioware tokens haven't qualified me to bid on any of the 4 days worth of Bioware Bazaar auction items. Maybe he was refering to the social networking tokens?

Since you actually didn't do any work to raise your tokens, why are you worried about it?
I mean, not to sound like an ass, but those are the same base 5950 tokens everyone got, why do you think having them entitles you to anything?
