If people sat down and read the rules before they decided to participate, they would have seen that after Saturday all tokens are removed.

Even if they haven't read the rules its already been confirmed by Chris Priestly in another thread, that the status of the tokens is this:     Use them or lose them.

BW should have let us known that if you don't have over 9000 you wont be bidding. Why didn't BW get the idea hey maybe we should have a bunch of smaller items like KEYCHAINS so everyone has a chance to join in.

BW you disappoint me.

I have 9100 which is super depressing because im so close I can taste it

Wait how can we use them if everything is over 9 thousand? Kinda pointless seeing items going for 10K+ now.

Sorry I don't go around spaming my link around the net in hopes it increases the sales of BW.

Its my assumption to make and I am sticking to it.   Whether you agree or not..isn't going to change my mind.   What WILL change my mind, is what actually is coming up next.  Whatever that might be.

If its just more tokenwhoring..I won't be participating......matter of fact..I might not participate anyways.

Bioware doesn't seem to get that..people will find ways to cheat...hehe, therefore they really need to create something that is going to be more fair and more inclusive and with less loopholes.

Agreed. Chance of my paticipation if it's a token whoring popularity competition, zero. Something not token whoring, I might not even bother. Especially after this disappointment that I could not take part in.

Meh, I doubt they will even do a contest for FL and NY considering our contest laws.

Actually, most of the people who won are people with followed accounts (Youtube, Twitter, Live-stream site, etc).

All they had to do was plug in their referral in a video or news bite, and their thousands+ subscribers would give them a flood of clicks that could not be matched by anybody spamming their link in forums.

Yeah I'm gonna have to admit that there are many more online social networking savy people out there than myself.  At first I questioned the numbers as well, it seems quite ridiculous to have such a high count that fast.  Then I had to sit myself down and consider I've never been on facebook or twitter - so the power of online friends that comes with that is beyond my comprehension.

Still, the greed that this is faustering is sickening.  I hope they rethink the way this is done.  Better still I hope they come up with some use for those of us that did register our games and did what we could to amass 4~6k on our own.

People really need to calm down, I was able pick up over 12,000 tokens by simply posting my referral link in all the related threads on this board and at couple other places. It isn't just the people spending 18 hours a day grabbing tokens who were able to contend for good prizes, I spent maybe 45 minutes maximum each day casually spreading my referral link around. Just because you didn't take the time to pick up referral points doesn't give you the right the blast the people who did.

Cudo's to you Slim. Glad you got your finger in the pie and hope you pulled out a cherry at least. I doubt anyone here actually begrudges anyone who managed to actively participate in the auction. Many do however have legitimate b*tches about the fairness of how the whole deal was done. I'd truly be thrilled if Bioware could do it all again somehow, but without eliminating 90%+ of those who were invited to participate.

I gave up on this contest a long time ago. I was never able to accumulate enough points and whenever I tried to bid a small number, some jerk would bid 50 times higher than me.

Why didn't BW have smaller items? So people that don't have over 10K could get involved? Why do this Bazaar thing every year that way Token count stays but its locked until next year. There are ways BW can improve this but like most of their games they rather scrap an idea than improve it.

i think its pretty funny that bioware is promoting spamming by giving people referral links, and then turning around and taking tokens away from those who are spamming their referral links

Basically I hate the fact that there are thousands of carpetbaggers on the internet who farm online contests and have nothing to do with our community. They breeze in, farm tokens, win prizes and vanish when the event is over.

They have nothing to do with our community.

I will say that I think some of the mechanics of this event were poorly planned or poorly executed, but that the Bazaar is not entirely devoid of value. It still has been fun for a lot of real community members, and I have seen forum friends win good prizes. Its a thin line between being furious at this event for failing in so many ways and appreciating all the effort BW put into making it happen at all.

Take a lesson from Square Enix. They are mailing me FFXIII postcards and a daily calendar because I registered my game on their website. I have every BioWare game registered here and I get rewarded with the offer of link spamming. Way to go!

Sorry I don't spend all my time hunting for tokens..there are other things I do, like..play my favorite game of all time...Dragon Age: Origins,  or talk to my friends on the Social network.   I am a social person,  I like making friends...I don't like being a token****. :)

And some were using cheats to pick up tokens..that was very evident, with the threads complaining about having their "illicit" tokens removed.    Heard about one such person having over 40, 000 tokens......yeah.

I don't have a personal website, blog..or a bunch of people following me on Twitter or Facebook or that other place..(don't remember the name)

I guess "I" could..if I really wanted to go that far........but that just seems extreme to me,   set all that up and you don't win anyways due to someone teaming up with all their friends to win the top prizes.
Winning in this contest is akin to being struck by lightning......really.   Pretty much no hope in hell unless you employ all the above-stated methods.

And still 9 tenths of the world can't participate in the current contest anyways...only open to the 48 states.   So the rest of us get to watch the massive spamming....instead.

Hey man, judging by your icons you got 5950 FREE tokens. Not sure what they are good for... but they're FREE! And if that's not good enough for ya... like Chris said -

What sucks is the mods kept locking referral threads except for the few that started early on.
BioWare basically gave those thread starters a huge advantage.

I'm just going to say that I believe it's quite easy to get 10K+ tokens. I have 8k+, and I haven't answered any questions, and I don't have Mass Effect 2. That said, I still hope that BioWare will go about their next "community event" more intelligently.

Fill out the ME2 questionare. This is a no purchase necessary sweepstakes style contest. I don't own DA anymore, or the expansion but I got all the points for them by answering the questions. There's another 1500 for ya buddy!. Also I won two contests, but I'm only at 8607. I can't do the character creator thingie because my comp is a dinosaur, so there 500 points down. If I could have done that and won an extra contest or did the referral thing for the first two days I could have gotten an awesome prize.

Technically this is not BW's fault: it's the bidders. I mean people have spend over 9k tokens on something like the dragon age pack which includes the game and 2 novels and some other stuff, and I have seen people bid 10k on the two novels themselves. There are small prizes out there like the poster packs and the books, it's just that people don't seem to understand the value of this or are so desperate for a specific item they have wanted that they spend all their points on it.

I have 6370 after the surveys and registration of DA:O I can se how 8-10 would be possible but 13-14k, that's a lot of work or spamming.

Wow this is like a thread on Infinity Ward's website. Sooooo full of hostility. But I wish that they would've posted the auction in their games. I didn't find out about it till it was too late. I only have 9k and I'll be lucky if I get anything. I would like this to happen again. But please include facebook into it and make it so like 200 people can win a challenge, I've been reading some of the things on twitter and some people are really dissapointed with how they went about doing this. It would be nice if they could put an actual limit on the number of referrals for each day because not everyone has the same resources like the 13k+ people.
