A betrayal by some squadmate would be a downer ending and feel far fetched. Even as I don't like Star Wars, I recognize how anticlimatic it would've been for Han Solo to shoot Luke in the back in Return of the Jedi.

*SPOILERS*
Hey everyone, I'm kinda new to the forums, but came across something that I thought was interesting in Garrus's "merc team" storyline.
Part of Christianity focuses on the belief that Jesus had 12 disciples, and, nearing the time of Jesus's crucifixion (?), one of those disciples, named Judas, betrayed Jesus and led to the break up of the group. I dunno if I'm the first person to post about this, but doesn't Sidonis sound really similar to Judas? And doesn't the 12 disciples sound like a parallel to Garrus's 12-man "merc" team?
Just thought I'd point out my thoughts, if no one else has yet. And now I wonder what other kind of parallels are in ME2...
Complete coincidence. The only Christian reference in the game was Legion's name.
Avid atheist talking as well, so I think I would have noticed.

The Lazarus Project, direct reference to Jesus bringing Lazarus back to life... though I think Lazarus spent most of his time sitting in a corner.EricLeb010 wrote...

It's mostly because Japan treats Christianity like we treat voodoo. There's no large Christian population with government control, so they can just take an unbiased look at the source material and go 'holy damn that guy got killed and came back to life, look at how pissed those angels are, o shi--that god guy is a fcuking psycho look at all those guys he burned cos they smack-talked him, THIS IS AWESOME.'NICKjnp wrote...

You know what? I prefer the Final Fantasy Tactics version.
If only because it's Jesus-figure ends up being a female angel of death. How's that for blasphemy!
You know... I have to say that whenever a Japanese game company tries to write something that has to do with Religion from any other place than Japan... they get it wrong on so many levels.
And then you get Shin Megami Tensei. BRB, killing God.

I don't care whether you disagree with something; just research it yourself first. Believing men you can hear in the common day without fault is just as silly as believing the Bible itself without fault.

Yep. SMT is so full of stuff that would horrify religious people.
I wish Fox News or some other news outlet would notice the SMT games so they could do free advertising for Atlus and their excellent games. "Game where high school teens shoot themselves in the head to summon demons, including Lucifer and Satan (at THE SAME TIME, potentially) and penis chariots." So much... potential. And that's just Persona 3.

A Shepherd goes around gathering together all the sheep and protecting them from all kinds of threats. The meaning behind Shepard's name is obvious.
Although the analogy that a Shepherd represents a guardian or caretaker was used frequently in the New Testament of the Christian Bible, it probably did not originate there.
Shepard is named after Alan Shepard...the first U.S. atstronaut in space.
