Humor.  You fail it.

Thinking.  You should try it.

History.  It exists.

Stupidity.  You are a master of it.

Trolling.  You should stop it.

Trolling would imply that he didn't hold the views he posted and knew they were misinformation just to get a rise out of people, so you could cut out every "___. ___ it." you posted except the trolling one.

Also did you seriously just link a History Channel DVD lol

Since it is a computer test to determine the real face of Jesus, there you go.  And since this thread has no relevance whatsoever to Mass Effect I would consider it trolling.  Plus, if his view is that Jesus was a bird man, I may just post a link to the local physchiatric ward.

It's a History Channel DVD.

Well, I posted a link to a History Network News article, and no one brought that up.

It disproved Kingus Jamus claim right off the bat; with many Egyptologist shooting down the claims in Tom Harpur's book "The Pagan Christ" (which, is where this thought of Jesus being similar to an Egyptian God first came to being).

Anyway, guess mine was different, though.

Interesting read for anyone who is a historical buff like me. Here it is again.

Although the analogy that a Shepherd represents a guardian or caretaker was used frequently in the New Testament of the Christian Bible, it probably did not originate there.

Shepard is named after Alan Shepard...the first U.S. atstronaut in space.

I'm pretty sure it's a reference to both Alan Shepard and a literal shepherd. Puns are nice that way.

To the OP. I like the thought process. I never really thought about it to be honest. Obviously Lazarus and Legion were as well.

But the internet is not the place to bring up religion. That is a discussion that is best communicated in person. And let's cool down on the flaming mmkay? I know that atheists don't believe there is a God and Christians do. Don't come and throw comments around mocking the other person if you don't believe in what they do.

PS: Yes I am the tact police.

I know, I was just pointing out the other half of the meaning, but I realize this wasn't made clear in the post.

The internet is exactly the place to discuss this sort of thing.  I don't even own a motorcycle.

KingusJamus and RenownedRyan enough.

You both sound like little 2nd graders arguing at recess. You can discuss without calling names.

He started it!!!!

I kid.  My rebuttal was harsh, no denying that.  But I'm sure you can understand I don't take kindly to this sort of thing.  That said.  I am truly hoping for a lockdown on this sucker.  It's out of hand to say the least.

But rarely do you see civility and tact when discussing sensitive issues like religion on forums. I don't mind the discussion but let's not have it degrade into a elementary school insult competition.

And just because you don't own a motorcycle doesn't mean you can' get pulled over!=]

I know your views. I get into atheism v christianity discussions all the time. It doesn't help your "cause" to be tactless in your response. You can discuss this civally.

There is a difference between discussing religious allegory in a game, and discussing religion. The OP was discussing the allegory. People might not feel as comfortable discussing the latter. Religion and politics are the two discussions which are most likely to devolve into namecalling and bad-feeling, because people's beliefs, whatever they might be, are very important to them. I'm not saying that there is no room for those discussions, but people should be aware that not everyone is comfortable having them. Especially not on a forum like this where people come for fun.

In any case, this thread (while not exactly the same or at that level yet) reminds me of this. Let's not go here, please. lol (so many threads do...)

I'm failing to see your point.  The DVD is the computer test.  I wasn't implying he should buy it.  The thing is boring as hell.  I was just showing that we do have the capacity to recreate the face of Jesus.

Seriously though, I don't think it was meant as a religious reference. If it was, they messed it up, seeing as how it's Garrus and his -eleven- followers.

I like lots of the points that you guys are bringing up, and thanks for posting a lot (it makes me :D   cuz this is my first forum post haha)

And I'm sorry if my Biblical references are a little rusty....it happens  :P

And yes, religion is one of those "questionable" topics for the internet...but I appreciate the contributions from you guys, I hadn't even thought of Legion or the Lazarus Project haha

It sure didn't take too long for the blasted godless pinko commies to show up.

Personally I don't see much of a connection besides for a betrayal. Garrus is badass, but he isn't quite the Turian version of Jesus.

I just read a few posts and decided to jump right in, so please forgive me if this has been posted before.

First of all, Garrus's band of merry men numbered twelve in total, including Garrus himself. Second, twelve is the number of soldiers in a normal squad-level formation in most militaries; it is the most basic unit next to fire team (four men, and not universal even within the U.S. Armed Forces), and typically three twelve-man squads make up a platoon. A squad of this size is typically led by a buck sergeant (E-5 in the U.S. Armed Forces).

Twelve men is the optimal size for a small unit operating independently. It can readily be divided up into four- or three-man teams to fulfill different objectives, enabling the commander to utilize any number of small-unit tactics when faced with a numerically-superior foe. Operators at this level never work alone (two-man scout/sniper teams are the smallest units that a military would field), so there exists the option to have up to six two-man teams. When running around a space station like Omega, pulling the kinds of operations that his squad did, Garrus was smart in limiting the size of his unit.
