Part of Christianity focuses on the belief that Jesus had 12 disciples, and, nearing the time of Jesus's crucifixion (?), one of those disciples, named Judas, betrayed Jesus and led to the break up of the group. I dunno if I'm the first person to post about this, but doesn't Sidonis sound really similar to Judas? And doesn't the 12 disciples sound like a parallel to Garrus's 12-man "merc" team?

It never occured to me, but yeah you could draw a parallel from it IMO.  Whether it was intentional by Bioware or coincidence who knows.

It sure didn't take too long for the blasted godless pinko commies to show up.

Personally I don't see much of a connection besides for a betrayal. Garrus is badass, but he isn't quite the Turian version of Jesus.

Explain to me exactly how godless makes you a communist?

Don't feed the trolls, Ventrale... :innocent:

I know, I know...but its just so hard to resist when people say comments like that.

*SPOILERS*

Hey everyone, I'm kinda new to the forums, but came across something that I thought was interesting in Garrus's "merc team" storyline.

Just thought I'd point out my thoughts, if no one else has yet. And now I wonder what other kind of parallels are in ME2...

Only Garrus had 11 "disciples" The 12th was him.

Apparently Jesus had a scar on his face and can have an interspecies relationship with an alien.

Hey, I've read theories which specualted that Jesus was an alien (or at least extra terrestrial.)
Also, he's Jesus. Surely he can do whatever he wants?

I think it's quite easy to find religious allegory in the ME universe. How much of this is intentional, concious or subconcious on the part of BW, and how much is people projecting or interperating signs subjectivly, however, is quite the grey area. Biblical references in fiction and media are a popular go to, probably because of how much it has historically influenced our lives socially and culturally.

Did Jesus also run around with a sniper rifle? If he did I would so read the bible

No, but the cross could've been one of the sticks up his ass, and now his priests and follows try to beat non-believers to death with it...
