Title is pretty clear. How do you distribute the points your teammates have to their skills?
Do you go 4-4-4 (Max 3 skills leave one empty)? Or maybe 4-4-2-3 (Max two skills, one at half, one at 2/3rds)?
Does it matter which character? (For example, on Miranda I max Overload, Warp, and her passive, and just leave her with the one point in her bonus power, Slam)
Thoughts? Note, if you have a specific spread, be sure to state which difficulty you do this on, as that does matter for some people. General ideas or suggestions are welcome too.

I prefer maxing a few powers over spreading the points over all the powers. Everyone is more powerful if they specialize on three abilities. Can't do this for everyone, though, as some powers are only developed as a prerequisite to get something better. Then I might end up with a 4-4-3-2 character. I always max out the class skill, because that defines who they are are a character.

I would almost always 0-4-4-4 if there were not pre-requisites. Since there are, I usually go 2-4-3-4 or 4-4-3-2, as the last point in the passive skill usually gives a reduced benefit, and I'd rather have 2 maxed active skills.
Kasumi and perhaps Jack are the only squadmates that 4-0-4-4 are really attractive on.

Yeah, for example, both Miranda and Jacob only need 1 point in their loyalty powers (Slam and Barrier respectively) because their class passives and active skills are very good in combination (Jacob's Pull evolved to Pull Field and Miranda with either Unstable or Heavy Warp = raep)
I assume with Kasumi you're maxing Master Thief, Flash Grenade, and Shadow Strike, correct?

Yeah, Overload just isn't worth anything if you don't get it to at least rank 3 (at least on Insanity), and the two unique powers are outstanding. The cooldown on those are worth a ton more than a low power Overload.

I find it depends on the character in question, as well as synergy with the rest of the squadmates' builds.
For instance, on Garrus I'd go with 4 4 3 2, and actually put the 4s in area overload and tungsten ammo.
'cos I use him vs shields, and more significantly I don't take overload for Kasumi.
A good build on Zaeed includes squad disruptor ammo ... but if you're an infiltrator, for instance (and have your own disruptor ammo), 4 4 4 is nicer ... with concussive blast, 50% damage bonus, and heavy inferno grenade.
I'm also dubious about Jack's ammo power when playing said infiltrator, 'cos I'd probably be using an ammo power as a bonus on myself at endgame ... so ... Shockwave 2, Pull field, Primal Adept, Warp ammo 3 ... ?
Then there's Samara ... seeing as I already have Pull field on Jack, I just make her go 4 4 4, and use her for silly damage with throw & reave.

Might as well not distribute any points.

I'll often use the trick on the Xbox that gets rid of the obligatory points in the loyalty powers for some squadmates. Because I want particular control over the ammo being used, Garrus, Thane, and Jack's special ammunitions have to go. Typically will get rid of Grunt's Fortification and avoid Mordin's Cryo Blast, giving them distribution over three powers as well. Would have restricted Tali and Samara to three powers if I could, but a couple of them require one power to get another. Miranda, Kasumi, and Zaeed are the only three squadmates where I actually want to use all four of their powers.
