I'm running 1.03 now and get various crashes and slowdowns. Can anyone tell me if Awakenings causes the problems to be worse, or about the same? I've not bought Awakenings yet, just curious if I should hold out for a 1.04 patch.

Just want to add my support for at least a word from Bioware acknowledging the problems and promising a patch will eventually fix them! I'm not going anywhere near Awakenings until all of this is resolved.

lol i just Hafe to throw my 2cents in here.

do you guys really think that bio cares one bit about the thousands of complaints ppl are posting every day? cmon mayby they pay the janitor an exstra 5 bucks to log on here and check a few of these post every day to see just how pist off ppl really are, but other then that all they hafe to do to ignore all of us is simpel....Just DONT LOOK.......and then they can take there sweet time fixing all the little things in the game like a pixel gone black in the deeproads instead of making a emergency patch that fixes a few of the really Really big problems and dont tell me that it takes This long cause some of the players here have found the origen of the problem and postet topics about where the issue is comming from and yet how long has it been sins they came out with the last patch?.. hmm i wonder if the janitor isent the ceo also and he dosent abla english.

Wow, I set the game aside for a month and now I come back to find no progress whatsoever?! Pathetic. I'm just glad I didn't waste any money on DLC for this game. Unfortunately, the store I bought it from doesn't accept returns.

BioWare has a long history of releasing buggy games, but they used to be fairly good about supporting them. It is sad to see good development paired with abysmal service.

And.. yeah, all the red crosses are one or more DA crashes. I could screenshot it, but I won't. This is the only program that is crashing at the moment. The crashing is random: in the middle of a fight, picking a chest, just walking, or when having a conversation. I'm quicksaving every 10 steps or so... :/

You can actually play the game!?  Amazing..  I'm still troubleshooting with awakening..  I'm not even able to get passed the first part of the game..  Mobs will not load, cutscene's will not come..  Similar issues the previous Dragon Ages game had..  like on the last mission  (cutscene) where the dragon blows up the bridge)  I had that problem in the first dragon ages.  It's such a shame that they work hard on a game that most people can't even play.  They even said in a gamespot +  G4 TV video on dragon ages that it's full of bugs.. i should have listened..  <_<

After DAO and CnC 4, I'm not buying another EA associated game until I find it in the $10 bargin bin. That is all they are worth.
I still can't believe that I've waited over 4 months for a patch to make this game playable......and things are worse now than to begin with..... :(

Bought the game when it came out and played 70hrs with a couple crashes. Started playing again this week, about 30hrs and had about 6 crashes since patching to 1.03.

Also, now I'm getting static sounds when Shale is in party or when I have Rally turned on and party members enter/exit the circular field.

How does this game actually run worse than at release for me?

I don't have Awakenings yet and don't plan on getting it for awhile now.

man bio is really being hung out to drye in my opinion and still we dont hear one god damn peep from them to asure the ppl playing their games that the problem will be fix or a roughly time table for when they are gonna release a patch, do they even care that they are losing clients? and we all know that clients = money

i tryede using the forums help your self guid to fix the problem....Nothing, didnt work and i have even done 4 of the things ppl are saying you can do to fix the problem like reinstaling microsoft net framework, uninstaling then reinstaling dao, checking the bins for manual kickstart to fix my lack of DLCs and still nothing and should i even be trying to fix it myself? isent that what patches are for?

cause if there is one thing that comes to mind is that if i am screwing around with dao dosent that constetute that should i lose my dlc permenantly and hafe buy them again as a cause that the fault was mine not bio because it was Me poking around dao files in the unofficial bug fixes.....

I understand your frustrations - but this is not universal - I have gone through each of the patches released and not had a single problem - not with DLC, not with the game itself - I haven't gotten Awakening, because I still haven't completed Origins,

And this is even on two different computers.

I hope they come out with a patch or another fix that can solve your problems. But things take time, I understand that. I've waited for patches to all the Bioware games I've had - and It always takes time for this.

At the moment, I'm still in Dragon Age itself, but I have quite some crashes now, which I didn't have before installing patch 1.03 / Awakenings. Up to patch 1.02a, I didn't have any crashes as far as I can remember. And yeah... I'm a slow gamer, often starting a "new" game after it's been out for 2 years :P

I'm just surprised that crossbows and pickpocketing don't work in 1.03 and nobody from Bioware has acknowledged those huge glaring bugs.

I'm even more surprised that there is no known issues list anywhere so that we know they are actually aware of the problem...

That's what gets me badly too, both skills. *shrug* As always, I then vote with my wallet. No more purchases from this franchise for me. Pity, as I was looking forward to DA:A, but there it goes. This is the third and last rubbish I've had from EA, so I look elsewhere now for my purchases. Sadly, it's Bioware's second for me (one more chance!), so I sincerely hope there won't be any more debacles like this!

Amen to that, it's very sad to see such a great game seemingly abandoned by its creator.  Maybe Bioware has become too big, or taken on too much at one time.

I thought to share this information with you guys here.
I just found this post from Victor (he made it about 2 hours ago in DA:O general forums)

Victor Wachter wrote...

I can't talk details at the moment, but there is another update in the works. We've all been working to compile issues and QA and the dev team have been in bug triage continuously to decide on the contents of the patch and what fixes it will contain.

I've been watching the tech forums more and more to at least get information on issues, even if I don't have a ready fix for them. I'd encourage you to post to the appropriate ones to talk in detail about any issues that are really annoying you. There are posts at the top of each that detail how to report bugs so we can get the best understanding of what's going on and enter them into the bug database. In most cases, we are aware of the issues you'd meet, but a full description, rather than "this thing is broken", is always helpful to making the fixes we can.

EA (with Dragon Age/Awakenings) is giving Atari (NWN2/xpacks) a run for their money regarding support ineptitude.

Still fells like we are beta testing DOA. But we paid for it over 4 months ago :(

Why should we do Bioware's (paid) job for them ??

Well its their own fault anyway, they used a new engine for DA that hasn't proven itself. They could have just used the unreal engine or aurora but because of their ego they built a new one that they say is more capable. Capable? Yeah right. The Witcher used an updated Aurora engine and this game is way much better in stability and graphics. Haha.

For those familiar with The Witcher, didn't we have the same issue with the loading times? Hell, we were even doing things in-between the load times like going to the bathroom and taking a bath, smoke a stick of cigarette, read an entire article in a magazine, or prepare a complete meal. But those guys from CDPR were able to fix the problem on an engine that they didn't built.

So what's taking it so long to fix the issue Bioware? Damn! This is frustrating!

they could atleast be BLUNT and tell us if it's EA who causes this or not. how hard is it to say?
"Yeah, EA wants us to concentrate on other products, we've decided to have a 3-man team working on patches. we're truly sorry, but it's all we can sneak by them" or "we're having some bad days here. everytime we fix something, ten other bugs pop up. we're doing our best, sorry"

at least TALK TO US beyond that hazy secretive talking they do now. how can a Patch be so secret?

the problem here is "i can't talk about it" like hell you can! how hard can it be? just open your mouth and YAP!
they talked about working WITH their fans to improve the game experience. this is just putting crazy mice in a box and observe them rage around. we're not told enough about the patching and what's keeping them. if they just honestly told us that the patching proved difficult because of X issue, i'd be happy.

i have read in some of the other areas that ppl have been posting huge amounts of unofficial bug fixes to alot of the problems ppl are having, now if That is not good info then i dont know what is, and players shouldent be the ones coming up with solutions to BIOs problem is there job, we bought a product from a companie and the product is full of flaws okay no bigi the companie should fix what is wrong with There product and every1 is happy, its Not the consumers who should be fixing what is wrong with the product, lend a hand sure but other then that its the companies problem.

When your customers are frustrated, silence is the worst possible response. Many people are willing to work with you and be patient if they feel that their concerns are acknowledged and understood. When people feel like they are being ignored, they just get angrier and angrier.
