 Ok, since specializations will be always available once you unlock them once, and since many of them are learned from books, could you just, 1) save the game, 2) buy the specialization book and learn it, 3) load a previous save? If this works, you could learn all the book specializations without paying any money.

yup that works, I bought the ranger book then died and my save went back to before I bought the book but it was still unlocked

I did that with Reaver. My char is a good guy on this play through. Why they made the only real tank specialty have to be aligned with (what seems to be) evil I don't know. But I wanted it, so I saved the game before point where I corrupt the ashes, killed Leilana and Wynn, went outside, became a reaver and loaded back to the ashes. I now have reaver and champion unlocked in the same play through.
