Bioware, in regard to your dlc it seems you have abandoned those without proper internet connection, leaving those without robbed of the extra money paid for it.
By proper i mean a connection that isn't an hour bus trip away.

Im sure im not alone in this.

Why?...:crying:

Surely its possible to download this somwhere else then install later.

Please, this is the best game ive played in years.

It's sad that in order to "hassle" pirates the paying customers are the ones who suffer the most.

The issue exists on consoles as well, where piracy is nowhere near the problem it is on the pc, the situation is rediculous (I blame EA). I can't play saves where I've activated downloadable content without being connected to the internet (i'm an xbox user). Broadband access in my area is unreliable - so I can hardly play the game at my leisure with content I've already paid for - worse still this came as a complete surprise, all other xbox dlc works offline on the console its originally downloaded to.

The most rediculous part of it is that these type of measures don't combat piracy they encourage it - I've known people who have bought legitamate copies of pc games only to resort to downloading cracked copies after DRM nonsense kept giving them problems.

The problem is that you have to be online while using any save where you have downloaded content (preorder bonuses/Shale/Warden's Keep/DA:Journeys unlocks/Collector's edition content etc. etc.). For someone who isn't able to constantly conect to the internet and has already spent money on this content this is a major grievance.

Yeah, that's not a problem on the PC version. You can play your DLC once you've downloaded it and activated once offline.

Christ, I wish the Devs would address this issue....I put up a thread like this a week ago and the Devs have just shoved their heads in the sand about it hoping it'd go away

I thought it was a problem.  Now, my PC is connected to the internet at all times, but when I try to resume a save before it has a chance to log in, I get a message saying that I can't.

Yeah. It's kinda odd like that. If there is an internet connection available then it will check for DLC and validate against a server, but if there isn't one it will work without it.

I have been experiencing internet issues and was upset to see I can no longer play Dragon Age without being connected to live. This is stupid. I have to start up an "offline" character since I can't play my main game file when not connected to live. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

http://social.biowar...9/index/133171. There is a fix for it. Delete Promo codes, clear cache, redownload. Everything should work offline. Xbox 360 version.

You need to make sure that you check the box that keeps you connected.

When you login, there is a check box at the bottom that says keep me connected or something to that effect

check that box

exit the game

enter the game and you should be fine to play w/o internets!

They better get this fixed before we all start getting out money back. Cant connect and i have 24/7 cable line. I can play if i want, but it will not access the new DL content if it cant VERIFY content. W T F ! ! Verify once a week, month even. NOT sec. of every minute. HAY BioWare. FIX IT or give our hard earned money back to us. Its only fair.

I did some research and found a work around.. havnt had a problem since. open your dragon age folder, go in to the bin_ship folder, then d.click the daorigins. this is a gold colored shield with a dragon on it. Since ive been running my game like this, no problems at all.

As far as the pc version goes, I haven't had any issues with playing offline even wiht DL content. I've had to go under services.msc and start the updater to use it, that is a pain but not difficult.

Not just for those without proper internet connections. I constantly get timeout messages. Now, since my DLCs and most promotional items are already downloaded and validated (not without enormous hassle, mind you) and some of my promotional items came from third-party sources, this doesn't really cause any issues.

But my connection is as stable as ever, yet constantly disappears while playing DAO.

It's funny that the pirated versions of the DLC and the promotionals doesn't just work flawlessly, but can also be used for modding.

So not only is the offical product not working properly for a great many people, but pirates offer a much better, working, product - for free.

And that's just pitiful. D:
