Mine has been completely stable until today.

My characters just moved into Arl Eamon's estate. I walk out into Denerim - and as soon as I go back into Arl Eamon's estate, it crashes.

The complaint iabove amounts to no more s than waste of space and time in here, because it
is just another case of ignoring the game's requirements.  An HD 3200 IGP is miles beneath
the minimum video CARD, and has no bearing on the information that Bioware wants.

Windows - WIn 7 64bit
DirectX - DX 11
(game runs in DX10)

The next quote is from an incomplete post.  The most important PC component was ignored (Video).

Immediately after that is someone with a Geforce 8400 GS.  Once again, a non-complaint because it
is below the minimum and isn't supposed to work

Following that, someone included a ton of stuff, but still managed to leave out the video card.

And still another non-complaint after that, since there is no HD 54xx video card that meets the game
requirements.

Following that are what appear to be five valid complaints, with a proper HD 5770 video card in one,
a Geforce 8800 next, an HD 48xx after that, a GTX285, and a GTX260 in the other (although the full,
requested data is severaly truncated).

The next also looks right, at first scan, with a Geforce 8800 again.  There's just some (for my own
purposes making this crique, if it's not adding information, then it's) "SPAM" after that, some of it
would be that (SPAM) by any definition, then someone with a Geforce GT 240, a Radeon HD 46xx,
a Geforce 8600 GT, then more "SPAM", and still ANOTHER of the "Non-complaint" messages
taking up space (HD 34xx, below minimum video), still more SPAMs (four in a row), then another
GTX285, so the all-up total here seems to be at least 30% of the complainants have ignored at
least the video card minimum.

Here's that (GPU) reference:

If we post again about another fault (or more information about the same one), should we post all our system specs again, just to avoid the second and subsequent posting being dismissed as "spam"? It seems a bit silly to fill up the thread with duplicated information but if it will make you happy ...

Have you ever SEEN an "Edit" button showing above your original complaint / comment? Well, it's there, and if there was a problem with the report you filled out, that would be where the additional comment's contents most likely belonged, when you did have both a valid complaint, and did fill out what Victor asked for.

If you were part of the 30 to 40 % who were simply wasting space in the thread, with assorted junk as video, that was SPAM of a different sort, more or less accidental SPAM.

Here's a partial lineup for some of those "No-Go" parts {ranked in reverse order of ineptitude - best is first, worst is last, and Intel, naturally, isn't in the running at all:

HD 3470 > HD 4350 > 9400 GT > 8500 GT > Geforce G.210 > HD 2400XT > X1300 Pro > X1550 > 7300 GT > 6600 Vanilla > HD 3450 > 9300 GS > 8400 GS > 7300 GS > HD 2400Pro > 8300 GS > X1300 > 7300 LE > X550 > 7200 GS > X300 > 9550 > X1050 > X300 SE > Xpress200 (IGP) > 7100 GS > 6200A.  (The only onboard chip was there only to show its relationship to the X300 SE and the Geforce 7100 GS.)

Nice to know my post was just spam too. Gorath, not everyone is a tech genius you know, some of us are just here cause we occasionally play games on our computers too, you know? You seem like a helpful person but would it hurt to lighten up a little on the non-techhy people? :??

Not many people seem to be posting here anyways, the other thread which was 30 pages or something has got lots of stuff in there but I guess a lot of people have totally given up by now.  Anyway I wont add anything else, dont want to be accused of more spamming.

Yes, of course I know about the edit button. But I also know that editing a post on this forum causes all the XML tags to get stripped out of it, turning the data that we were asked to post into a jumble of unidentifiable stuff. So I'm not going to edit my post with the specs in it, I'm going to add new posts instead. I suggest other people do the same.

It's my way of giving Bioware possibly-helpful information.

I went from Vanilla install to 1.03 and what a mistake. Image IPB
Origionaly DA:O was rock solid stable i could run it for days non stop without it crashing, but now i get 30-45 mins befor a crash to the desktop no messages are poped up. Worth noting is these crashes are totaly random even if i am not in combat, and i have tried settings the affinity to 1 core no change there. The problem is in one of the patches from origional to 1.03.

Not sure which patch ballsed things up but one of them sure did.

For reference altho i dont think its directly responsible based on the wide variety of systems posted here.

CPU: Phenom 9950BE x4  (140Watt version)
Ram: 4gb (2x2gb cl 3-4-4-12)
HDD: 2x 640gb seatgates sata2 (stripped)
GFX: Nvidia 250 (primary), 750a (onboard secondary, disabled while gaming)
chipset: nvidia 750a
Sound: standard AC97 audio chip.
PSU: 1400Watt HiPower
OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional

I dont think anything else would be helpfull since nothing system wise has changed since DA:O original install ran fine, only a patch update to DA:O has occured as far as this game is concerned.

Spotted some unfriendly posts from what would appear to be one of the forum/dev team so i think i should expand on this a bit. I have ALSO tried various compatibility modes to no success. I've also tried playing with a different user account (another local/admin) without the extra content in the users mydocs/bioware folder still no change, same crashing issue.

P.S this storeing game data in the my docs is kinda stupid i mean i am not the only person who using folder redirection on their my docs and why or why do's that crap need to be in the users profile in the first place its game data not personal data. (and if you want to rant about DRM issues the game was available 6 days earlier via torrents than legaly purchased, i preordered).

Ditto to most of the problems posted here. Game was solid prior to upgrading to patch 1.03, now after about an hour of playing it stutters and within 30 seconds CTD. Here's the info asked for, and I will remember to send in the Windows pop up info when it crashes again. Seeing as I am less than literate with technical spelunking to find exactly what you want, please forgive me if I'm not posting enough information or the wrong information. If it's pointed out to me what I did wrong (if I did something wrong) I'll change it ASAP. Thanks.

Again, sorry if I'm totally missing the mark as far as what you need to fix the problem. Hope the info helps.

Just like many others, I get crash to desktop errors, very often when I use area-of-effect spells (though close-in action often will cause it as well).  It can be ameliorated by setting the affinity of the program to 1 or 2 cores (usually cores 0 and 2) instead of the full 3, but the program is sluggish and has many graphical artifacts when that is done.

Note, the program falsely reports the number of cores and processors to 1, when there actually are 3

Hope this helps. I typically crash during combat, however when entering a new zone has been noted.

Also, I wanted to mention, that I find that I have NO CRASHES at all when I am not logged into the EA servers while playing either DA:O or DA:A!  I've found this with both an AMD processor as well as with this Intel Processor.  As long as I am not LOGGED INTO the server while playing, I tend to not have any crashes during play of game.  FYI

Hope this helps with anybody else's issues with game crashes Mr. Wachter.

Using the 1.02a because 1.03 is unplayable.

Doubt this will help, considering the 30+ page full of system specs all ready and how 1.02a is working excellent but here ya go ;)
(Also the Gorath Alpha guy is rather useless, he is full of himself, I always see him posting "Tech Guru" information to people usually just trying to bash a low specced pc instead of helping, ignore him person who was paying attention to him.)

Victor the system instability well, more severe instability was introduced by patch 1.03 and I can vouch for other players having the same issue.

I reverted back to 1.02a and it was fine, the slowdown problem is present and can be duplicated after two hours depending on your system configuration.

My theory is, it has to do with how you optimized the patch in 1.03 that allegedly have fixed the isolated slowdown problems with the original game.

I tested this on other PCs using different RAM and GPU and it is consistent with the two hours limit before everything bogs down to a hurting slideshow, this is with 1.02a.

But with 1.03 in the original game, it never goes the distance. What I mean is if you encounter a horde immediately after that there is a massive fps drop. What I do to remedy the problem is to stop where I stand and wait before the game stabilize again. It takes approximately 20 - 30 seconds before everything returns to normal.

The pain is in the last battle when you are inside Denerim, specifically on the last point before the Fort Draken courtyard, this will kill and CTD your desktop. I had to restart DA at least four times just to finish this section. Evidently, area effect spells are causing the massive slowdown, specially with flame effects.

I hope you can finally deal with this stability issue. Thank you, just my two cents.

Forgive my ignorance, but how does one revert back to v1.02? I've been looking around but can't find any place to do so. Would I have to simply uninstall/reinstall?

Its painful but what I did was to reinstall DA from a backup image done prior to Awakening. Simplest way is to just uninstall then delete directory where DA is located including the DA folder in My Documents/Bioware directory.

Had 2 crashes so far. First time was when I hit the C to open the character screen, I was in the castle (Human Warrior start area). This one resulted in a Windows error report.

The second one didn't come up with an error report - I was moving with the party in the wilds area outside the first city and the game simply died and left me with a black screen (the start button and taskbar were there, and my desktop icons, but my desktop picture wasn't there - it came back after a reboot).

I have the two free downloads installed (Shale & Blood Dragin Armor)

Still enjoying the game immensely even if it does crash occasionally.

More of the same; WIN 7 ultimate 32 ASUS PoroTurbo Intel quad 9550S Nvidia GTX260. My crashes did not begin until I got to the Mages Circel Tower and picked up the Mage(Ginni?); then lockups began during combat randomly and involved the display of the potion/poison making screen spontaneously which could not be closed with close window "X" or escaped from. Sometimes it seemed to occur if i tried a healing potion but at others it didn't make a difference. I eventually could get past the combat after multiple reloads using the menu option at the right of the top center status/menu bar which remained funtional although escape key did not. The only other peculiar thing that occurs on the screen is the presence of a damage (stunning or fire ball?) icon for one of my troops which was timing down about a 60th of a sweep with each close window "x" I performed (visible just above the quick menu on bottom right of screen) as the potion creation window flicked off for < a 1/2 second. Obviuosly the game is notmuch fun if you have to repeat combat several times to clear an area because of a screen lock.
