I used a name from an old RP community several years ago to register on the Bioware website ... and unfortunately I seem to have been stuck with it ever since :).

I've always been rather fond of it, but it'd be nice to chop the location/setting specific bit off the end ... perhaps eventually there'll be a name change option, eh?

gotthammer - my attempt to 'german-ify' 'godhammer', which, if memory serves, was the name of the lascannon pattern used on Land Raiders in Warhammer 40,000.

Unfortunately, since I used the nick on other forums/games, some folks assume I'm german (esp. when I was playing games like CoD4 :D ). Oh well, I'm trying to learn deutsch anyway...

I usually use my standard-internetname, pseudonym "Caboodle", but it was already taken at the bioware.forums..
...when this happens I just pick one of my own character's names. Yenaquai or short Yen or Yena is one I'm quite fond of, and so I chose her name.

That is really a good name, Yenaquai!

My nick is from a runes of magic forum (not an in-game character name) At that time, I googled around and found a name generator, where you choose what you like and how you are as person etc, then this name came up :)

At first with Neverwinter Nights I used multible logins, seperate ones for each character but that didnt work as I kept making new characters so I needed something less specific. Because I was trying out some inhuman races at the time the nickname became Inhuman One.

Its kind of Ironic that I actually favor human characters, about eight out of ten characters I created are human.

These days I like to look at my nickname differently. It looks simple at first but it has grown to have a deeper meaning than originally intended.

Whatever character I am playing is not a living person, its a character in a videogame and as such it cant feel real pain, sorrow and other unpleasant things. Many people seem to forget that often and mistake the character for the person behind it. Its not you in the game, just a character you controll. There needs to be a healthy distance between a player and his/her characters.

In the end it are just videogames after all. Its great entertainment and something you can be passionate about but it shouldnt controll you.

From the song Finnegan's Wake.  The phrase always stood out to me for some reason.
I also use it for my Gamertag and a few other forums.

i registered with Dimble ThriceFoon because it was the stupidest name i could think of.

i needed a stupid name because i had just read an offtopic RP thread created by two enthusiasts and wanted to take the mickey.

their
tortured 'heroes' were stuck at an iron-bound door, so i registered
Dimble ThriceFoon and conjured up the Weasel of Gnawing to chew its way
through the door, thus permitting the 'heroes' to continue their epic
journey.

the enthusiasts weren't happy with my intervention, but
i was so tickled with my creation i created the epic ballad of the
Weasel of Gnawing along with a friend, and that tale still exists here:

http://forums.biowar...asel of gnawing

as fine a tale of derring do as can be found anywhere on the interwebs.

I had a good friend who was an exchange student from Austria for a while. Someone created a gamertag for him while we played Halo and when he left I used his name in his memory, and I've been using it ever since.

Ive have always used addict/addiction for all forums and even games since.... well since the mid 90's.  Funny thing is that theres been plenty of times someones asked "hey you the same addict that played (insert game) or hang out on (some forum) or played on (some game server)"

Its a small word.

Well, I don't think you should worry about your english, there are many people here who don't speak english as their first language (including me), and we do our best to write accurately, and I think that's the most important thing.
But names are really important... I agree with you.

Apasas literally means "City of the Mother Goddess". I found out about it when I was visiting the Roman ruins at the city of Ephesus in Eastern Turkey, which was built on top of previous city that apparently had an amazon female warrior culture.

I really do like a good strong Goddess and female heriones. That is probably why I prefer playing female characters in general.

named after the thrall unit in myth 2 soulbighter which is basicly a mindless zombie with a two handed meat cleaver. Myth 2 is an elven year old game and leaves dragon age origins for dead in terms of quality and experience.

It has its own unique story competing on a rpg scale, and its own unique genre that combines real time stratergy and tactics on a scale i have never seen in any other game. here is a link to the first intro which was actually made by disney being a M game at the time this is no joke!

if your interested in this game give me a message ill fix u up with a copy

Well for me it breaks up like so. Incanto is magic or mystical. And Magnus is from Chrono Trigger one of the best rpg's i have ever played. Magnus was the coolest character on that game in my opinion.

My name comes from a Japanese Warlord in a novel called "Shogun", written by James Clavell. I've always found that the name, while it isn't easy to remember, is one that resonates sheer power and ferocity but also has a calming subtlety to it after I read it.

Mine's from a magic the gathering card called the Loxodon Hierarch (a cleric Elephant man). I liked the Hierarch part and have used it as my online moniker ever since.

I know of the character from Chrono Trigger you speak of, but I remember his name as Magus, not Magnus...? Image IPB (Long live Chrono!)

I use my Star Wars name -

For your First Name -

Take the first 3 letters of your Last name and add  the first 2 letters of your first name, so if your last name was Thomas and your first name was Kyle your first name would be Thoky.

Now for you last name -

Take the first 2 letters of your Mom's maiden name & add the first 3 letters of the city you were born. So if your mothers maiden name was Parker and you were born in Memphis your last name would be Pamem.

So your Star Wars name would be Thoky Pamem!

I ended up with Kinjo Havic and have been using that for the past decade.
