LOL, I failed that loyalty mission on my first playthrough as well.
The key to succeding is to make sure to thouroghly check out that one girl's room to find out what Morinith likes. (For example, behind her bed you find out who her favorite artist is.)
I'm just going to keep that save file to see if Morinith will come up again in ME3...
