So, if your best friend was going to destroy your chances of having children ever, you'd back down just because they were your best friend? Uh-huh. I skipped out a part of plot by accident, not realising that this would happen, and got bit in the arse for it. Next playthrough, he did back down.

@Collider: Yes, he does back down if you have his family armor. However, I thought 'I can do this after Virmire, which looks slightly more fun', and then didn't have high enough Charm to convince Wrex not to shoot me.

It's ironic how Kaidan was beaten and harassed by a turian for... however long he was at BAaT yet has no negative feelings against aliens - turians in particular.
Ashley said she never did serve with aliens before but she doesn't exactly hate them, just isn't quick to trust them with her life.

Indeed. And after Virmire (especially if you do it last) , she starts to actually trust/respect the aliens. For instance, if you let them both live, if you take Ashley and Wrex with you to the Citadel to meet Captain Anderson at Flux, the two will have some good conversations. Like, when Ashley tells Wrex something along the lines of "I have to say, Wrex, you're not what I expected.", to which Wrex replies with something like it's not a problem or don't worry about it, etc.

i cant believe that the reason you played this game was for the way the characters look. please dont buy ME2, infact uninstall ME1 as you dont know how to play. i mean seriously WTF???



the reason you have to choose if to show how difficult choices can be and that not all storys have a complete happy ending. Kaiden and Ashley are your very first two squadmates so choosing between one of them is extremely difficult. I remember having the screen on the choice bar for a good 10min before i made my choice. the story writers really did a good job with this part. made it all seem so real, i remember i had a lump in my throat when I let Kaiden die...

oh and as for Kaidens resentment towards Aliens, I dont really see him having any resentments as he is not the type to judge a race by one individual. In one conversation with Shep he clearly says that Aliens are no different than humans, then he says summin about some are bastards and some are good. something to that affect.

To be fair I didn't much care for the aliens either, except for Wrex. Most of them are just annoying, especially Garrus and Tali.



But I played it to the end because the game is awesome.

I think that the "I have to sacrifice one of my (human) squadmates" is one of the best moments in the entire game, because it's really emotional It's a great role playing thing.



As for the 'Aliens are ugly' thing... Deal with it, you will have to work together with them anyway.

It's really amazing how it's nothing but a game, and people really have prejudices against the Aliens. I can understand not wanting to romance them and stuff, but to have such a hate for them that you find ways to not have them around. Wow....

Seriously this post has more fail in it than the rest of the boards combined!. An rpg  does not mean you're in control of EVERYTHING. There's a story , you get to deal with it your way but expecting to get exactly what you want is dumb.
Anyways if that was real life and you had to choose 1 or the other , just because 1 died that wouldn't make you a bad friend or whatever. It's called a "hard choice" designed to draw you in to games and give you an emotional reaction.

If you wanted pretty pink characters and fluffy ponies why did you buy an M rated , violent , gribbly alien killing sci-fi game?!?
Man I honestly can't believe the amount of stupidity on display from 1 person!. Depressing

It's possible to do Wrex's armor and still kill him.



Pick any option first.



Then pick the renegade option (lower left, not actually marked as renegade). Picking the neutral or Paragon will have him back down (no persuasion needed).



Then you can *still* Charm or Intimidate him...but if you ignore them, then you can have him killed. But you have to try to be a complete **** to kill him if you do his armor.

I never understood this argument. People shoot you in cutscenes from about the same range several times throughout the game. Your shields always took care of it before, so you're clearly in no danger now.

OP, you are a shame to all female nerds. Please stop playing video games immediately and give your copy of Mass Effect to someone who isn't a moron. Go back to Bejeweled.
