A while back, mountain dew had a WoW related contest that also used a point system to bid on items, but instead of highest bidder winning, to keep it fair, they used a percentage based selection system.
say 10 people bid 1000 tokens each on an item, 10000 tokens in the pool. If the system picked a number between 1-10000, whoever owned that token would win.
so say I owned the 5000'th thru 6000'th token, if the system picked 5555, i'd win.
it was much more fair than this exploited referral system.
It's not too late to change the way the bidding works for your major prizes at least.
As it is now, with my 7000+ tokens I'm not even going to be able to bid on anything, is that really how you want to show your thanks for someone who owns all your games?
How the auctions should have been handled.

i wouldnt say to change it that much, even though that would be nice, but it would be better if it was based on something else rather then "whoever knows the most people on the internet wins!"
Also, it probably is too late to have a reasonable change, so could you click my signature link please?

well this just seemed like a way to get us to spam social networks with bioware links, more and more seems less like a way to "thank the fans" as they put it, and try to mobilize their supporters in to advertising for them. I still think the system was really unfair. Not that I expect them to give me anything, they don't owe me anything, I just dislike how this was marketed "for us" when it was really "for them"
