I wish there was an Undo feature...

I bought it- tremendous waste of money. Maybe if it was 10 bucks it would be worth it, 20 or 30 if they actually patched it.

I just want to add that I'm disappointed in Bioware that they decided to not release this on disc in Europe. As a
avid games collector I'm proud of my collection of original games and I freaked out last friday when I was in the game store in my town and the guy told me it's not released on disc for us while the PC and XBOX expansion discs were sitting right there on the shelves.

With this latest blunder EA and their developers are very low in my book now C&C4 is total bullcrap, Need for Speed is not as fun as it used to be and now this... EA is no longer what it used to be, they're starting to be the
laughing stock of the games industry and I'm steering clear of all these titles.

Dragon Age was fun to play but Bioware is showing their colors by not releasing this disc in Europe, note that Sony said that it's Bioware's choice to not release it, not Sony's decision. Maybe if they change their mind, and fix the many bugs I read about here, I might pick up a copy but for now I'm done with Bioware and Electronic Arts.

Back to Star Wars Galaxies and soon Final Fantasy XIV will open their Beta so that SW MMO from Bioware won't be missed here, probably will be download only for European PS3 users... [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png[/smilie]

EDIT: Bad, forums are bad, need a webdeveloper ?

After all the negative hype, rants about bugs, some of my own misgivings about recent Bioware decisions etc etc, I was prepared to really dislike this exapnsion...

However, it's really not too bad. If the original was 9.5 then I'd give it an 7.75 - 8.

i played and bought it.

i sorry to say the story line is really slow and that its really short not really worth what i paid 50$ for 2 day air and delivery on release date from game stop.
the game seemed to be really short and not really a true expac, and i really think they just rushed this together to make a cash grab and pray they get enough people to see the ending hell there was no Morgan, Allister is only at the beginning when you play your character from the original game once you carry over.

i really hope they dont mess up dragon origin 2 when it comes out like they did to the expac.

but i did like the characters, but please , please allow us to have DLC TO BRING BACK SHALE!

Just out of curiosity, was there anything that put you off before you even knew about the many issues Awakening has?

For me it was the whole spiel where Bioware representatives were patently trying to deflect questions that concerned the narrative connections to the main game. Alarm bells started sounding off.

Ah, well. With both Risen and Ego Draconis still waiting for their Xbox patches as well, I guess it's back to Oblivion for me for a while. Console RPGers get no love...

I've asked for a balanced review in a past thread I created due to the immense amount of negative feedback. Overall however, thanks to the help the community has given me, I've decided to buy it, but thankfully later, since wifey and I are still ME gaming and haven't even open up Avatar yet (we bought it same time we went to the game store).

Hopefully by then the main criticism that is a deterrent; aka bugs, would be squished. Price is never an issue, but value is - no one likes to feel ripped off. If anyone would like the read the helpful reviews by owners of Awakening you can find it here:

I am still really new to this game so I don't think I will buy Awakening for a while. I'll get around to it eventually though, when the prices drop.

From all I've read Awakening is more of an addition than an expansion.

I'd like to own DA:A eventually but it costs just too much. $40 for and expansion pack of a $60 game that I might beat in 10 hours.

It's a no-sale for me on the grounds that "my" ending to DA:O isn't considered legitimate, which defeats the purpose of the expansion as far as I see it.

I didn't buy it and I won't buy it.

I am a Capitalist. The only way to get our points accross to Bioware that we want continuity and for our squad mates to come with us is through our wallets.

I found their other DLC to be fun though (Warden's Keep, RTO, Shale).

I don't know if its that EA is rushing Bioware, or that they just have too much on their plate (TOR, ME3, DA2, and now they are in charge of WAR which looks like it will be a complete and utter disaster - though WAR was already down that road anyway) but Bioware is really letting us down. Origins was a great game. Mass Effect was a great game. They just dropped the ball in their expansions / sequels in the parts that matter to its fans.

EDIT: Anyways, I am going to go play Origins.

The fact that you paid 14 bucks for him ( I got him for free) and he doesnt cross over to an expansion (if it was a sequel it would be different) is insulting. If they do do some DLC to transfer him it should be free.

What's WAR good sir? Oh and not buying Awakening might be a wise choice after all, capitalist or no.

Not yet, I want the game on disc so I'm considering buying the US versions of Origins and Awekening.

I don't trust harddrives enough to buy the downloadversion ;)

Loved Origins to bits, but let's just say that if it was this century's Baldur's Gate, Awakening sure
doesn't look like no Tales of the Sword Coast. How many here feel the same and haven't bought the game? Just curious.

I might not be Awakenings biggest fan, but I still think it was still a lot better than Tales of the Sword Coast.

Unfortunately i have bought awakening before readinfg the forum, and i am REALLY DISAPPOINTED. It's SO BUGGED to be completely unplayable (several sidequests not triggering or not completing, hardly obtained items lost forever, party members unusable, frequent crashes and glitches).

I strongly raccomend to anyone not to buy awakening: it will ruin your dragon age experience.

Gotta completely disagree with that.  TotSC may not be the biggest thing ever, but it was focused and created some genuinely interesting and fully realized plots, locations and characters.  Awakening by contrast was interesting, but never came close to fully realizing any of its potential.  Hell I'd take Durlag's Tower alone over the whole of Awakening.

in my book. ToSC was a master piece. loved the dungeon, loved the islands and loved the first demon encounter of the series. challenging, deep and fun.

awakening is quite good so far too. unlike some here, i've never had a crash and my worst bug ever was me getting teleported from the middle of Amaranthine to the walls... a bit of a shocker. oh, and once in the base game, Duncans two weapons disappeared, but a reload fixed that. so, i'm still sceptical about the fact that some seem to experience what i'd like to call "an ukranian game" S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is notorious for crashing and breaking all the time.

if i survive all the way through awakening with no gamebreakers, bioware can count on my wallet and if the manage to patch this up, might even be full price again. i'd like to have equally good experiences for everyone.

but as far as i remember, Bioware, Black Isle and Obsidian games have always been bugfests untill something near 2 years after release. i'm just gonna wait, i know when stuff will work.

I would gladly invite you to my house, load awakening and make you show what happens on my computer. You wouldn't be "sceptical" after.

Can you use Velanna in your partyy? Cool, i can't. She's locked inside vigil keep waiting to become a gray warden FOREVER.

Could you do Anders, Sigurd, Oghren and Justice personal quests? Cool, i can't. Some of them does not trigger, apparently becouse i did not recruit them in the "correct" order. The other are simply broken, like doors you should pass in amaranthine that are not interactive (u can't completely click them).

How many times you had to play Silverite mines before getting back your equipment? Me, 3 times.

Can you runecraft? Lucky you, after having opened all chests and visited all merchants i only have 5 recepits for lesser runes.

Do your vigil's keep npc accept quest items they asked you? Mine do not, even if i have the item and they have a very big yellow harrow over their head.

Not bothered to write down another dozen of bugs i encountered.

I haven't bought it, nor am I planning on it until the price goes down to what it rightfully should be, judging by people's reviews and my own intuition.

This. TotSC was limited in scope, but what it did offer was definitely worthwhile, so I stand by my comparison.
