i'm still sceptical about the fact that some seem to experience what i'd like to call "an ukranian game" S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is notorious for crashing and breaking all the time.

I would gladly invite you to my house, load awakening and make you show what happens on my computer. You wouldn't be "sceptical" after.

Can you use Velanna in your partyy? Cool, i can't. She's locked inside vigil keep waiting to become a gray warden FOREVER.

Could you do Anders, Sigurd, Oghren and Justice personal quests? Cool, i can't. Some of them does not trigger, apparently becouse i did not recruit them in the "correct" order. The other are simply broken, like doors you should pass in amaranthine that are not interactive (u can't completely click them).

How many times you had to play Silverite mines before getting back your equipment? Me, 3 times.

Can you runecraft? Lucky you, after having opened all chests and visited all merchants i only have 5 recepits for lesser runes.

Do your vigil's keep npc accept quest items they asked you? Mine do not, even if i have the item and they have a very big yellow harrow over their head.

Not bothered to write down another dozen of bugs i encountered.

i'm very sorry for your less than acceptable situation. i meant that i'm sceptical at how they can release the game in such a state. i clearly said i had understood that some people were having their game ruined by bugs. i then proceeded to state how happy i was that my situation was less than gravev(gloating, sorry).

yes, all of those you mentioned work for me. i did not experience problems, but i did discard Valenna after her joining since i'd already customized Anders.
the only one i can't vouch for is rune crafting since i've ignored it, i don't need it neither want it. i'll be sure to yell out if i experience any gamebreakers if that will console you.

i'm sorry about your situation mate and i dealy hope they patch the game since anything else is respectless to their customers (fan seems to be exagerating?).  i did not mean to offend.

stalker, on the other hand, is performing less than acceptable for me. i'm still playing it though since it's got one great reputation for its atmosphere and story. it seems that we've been hit by a wave of 50-50% chance of running games these days.

I won't buy it until the PSN puts the price down.

Sorry Bioware, I love the original game, and I do really want to play Awakening, but I can't justify spending £32 on a goddamn expansion pack.

Same here.  I like physical media, and if I get no pysical media I expect to pay less not more.  with the XBOX 360 boxed version retailing at £25 most places the PSN should be cheaper!

Nope, I have not bought Awakening yet.  Am only going to CONSIDER purchasing it IF and WHEN there is a working patch that fixes the bugs introduced with 1.03 and doesn't introduce even more bugs to my Origins game so as to make the whole experience... aggravating. I like my Origins game, I would like to be able to play it, so not am not going to put a bullet in Origins just for the sake of experiencing Awakening.

Also, since BW insists on making the buggy 1.03 patch a pre-requisite for not only Awakening but also any DLC released after 1.03 was introduced... guess what... I won't be getting any DLC that requires me to install a broken patch.

I love Origins. I enjoy Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner and Return of Ostagar... and if that is all I get to enjoy, so be it. Yes, I would like to experience what Awakening has to offer, despite some disappointing reviews about the story and, yep you guessed it, even more bugs (also, the simple fact that BW refused to transfer over the DLC content into Awakening, content that we have paid for but have been denied from enjoying in Awakening - and yet... AND YET... loyal fans out there had a working mod available that allows the use of the DLC content WITHIN A DAY or so of Awakening release... sheesh, doesn't that just astonish you?). However, when experiencing Awakening forces me to install a broken patch... meh, I'm staying with 1.02a.  I'm happy being able to play Origins, thank you very much, and I would like to continue to have that option... especially considering the amount of money that I have already spent to be able to enjoy Origins plus Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar (thankfully the Stone Prisoner promo code was included in my retail box of Origins).

I would think that for this rather steep price for an EXPANSION... that the developer would put more effort into addressing these considerable issues... heck, even APPEAR like you're putting some effort into addressing these considerable issues. Communication people! Posted Image

I'm another who has so far given it a pass. I may still pick it up when it hits the bargain bins, but it just doesn't seem like an "expansion" to me. Just dropping all the companions except the boring drunk dwarf really turned me off. Add in the new conversation method, which just seems too stilted - I liked getting to know my companions and having our fireside chats - and the apparently rather abrupt story . . .Yeah, just couldn't find any excitement to justify $40.

However, while some of the lack of continuity seems more due to simple laziness or lack of thought (for example, if you were king or queen in your run through, people really ought to take note of that in game), with so many possible endings, I just don't think they could account for every possibility.

I didn't buy it and I won't buy it.

I am a Capitalist. The only way to get our points accross to Bioware that we want continuity and for our squad mates to come with us is through our wallets.

I found their other DLC to be fun though (Warden's Keep, RTO, Shale).

I don't know if its that EA is rushing Bioware, or that they just have too much on their plate (TOR, ME3, DA2, and now they are in charge of WAR which looks like it will be a complete and utter disaster - though WAR was already down that road anyway) but Bioware is really letting us down. Origins was a great game. Mass Effect was a great game. They just dropped the ball in their expansions / sequels in the parts that matter to its fans.

EDIT: Anyways, I am going to go play Origins.

What's WAR good sir? Oh and not buying Awakening might be a wise choice after all, capitalist or no.

WAR = Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

It is an MMO that came out awhile ago, well over a year, I preordered it a year before the original release date and played it until a few months ago. It is the best RvR (PvP) game on the market. Sadly, EA forced Mythic to release the game one year early. The game was fine for the first few tiers, but the final tier was not done... and while it was taking them forever to fix end game, it was still the best RvR around. Than recently, Septemberish maybe? Mythic made a major screw up that effectively killed the game for many people. EA put WAR under Bioware's jurisdiction, and from the looks of it, Bioware is just going to continue the game killing trend (but to be fair they are coming into a type of MMO that they arn't qualified nor have the experience to run and they were never involved in the game's creation).

You can rest assured that EA may very well screw Bioware for us too... they already did with Awakening (to my knowledge Origins and Mass Effect were in development before the takeover).

EDIT: And RIP Schurge (Maurader - rr63)... you were the best character I've ever played in an MMO nothing will compare in any future MMO. I will miss you.

Does wishing I hadn't got it count? I really love Origins but Awakenings is just an incredible disappointment for the 40$ I spent... Gonna read more reviews before the next Bioware game, that's for sure.

Reading the post about Awakening not working properly makes me wonder what the heck was going on during the post-test stage, or if it got tested at all? I had very few bugs in Origins and despite my little icon I haven't touched Awakening yet.

I've yet to make my final opinions on the 'expansion' but I've no reason to doubt problems encountered by others or disregard the community opinions.

Yeah, after Awakening I am going to be adopting a "wait and see" approach as well with future titles.  Not meant to be a rant, but was just really let down. :(

From what I've heard DA:A is nice, but short and stripped down.

For $40 I'd expect an expansion pack to be meaty. Not to the scope of the original game (which was huge and very much worth the money) but still enough to stand on its own. I will buy it, but only after a price drop.

please allow us to have DLC TO BRING BACK SHALE!

The fact that you paid 14 bucks for him ( I got him for free) and he doesnt cross over to an expansion (if it was a sequel it would be different) is insulting. If they do do some DLC to transfer him it should be free.

i didnt pay for him sir, i got him for free

i didnt buy it because of what i heard about this expansion here and from the devs, and probably never will.

Bugs, too expensive, no interesting companions, Oghren, but mostly for the lack of connectivity to the original game.

I bought it at release (from the UK for £18), but have not yet installed it. I am still playing toons through DAO on v1.02, and refuse to patch to 1.03 until there is a fix for it. Also, I will not install Awakening until there is a patch for this as well.

Meanwhile, it gathers dust ...

I'll buy it when it's patched (and hopefully when i can get the new specializations on DAO), and when it's in the bargain bin.

IMHO not worth the money now (maybe if it's fixed in both content and story i would consider it).

Wish I had waited on the 1.03 patch. But I was eagerly awaiting Awakenings so I installed patch 1.03. Heck's buckets of fried nugs batman! Totally f'd up my game. Took me TWO days to get the game back up and running again (and now, even with the limited time I've been playing DA:O since Awakenings released, there are SO MANY graphics glitches it's no longer amusing).

I WAS totally addicted to DA:O. I was playing every night after work, and most weekends. I sorely let things slide since I picked up the game in January (loved loved loved the game, the characters, the animations, the party interactions, story, choices, etc).....even got and read the books. heck I even wrote a stupid short story I was so into this game and the characters.

But I lurked on the boards reading what people who got an advance copy said about Awakenings....
and was disappointed. But I thought 'Give it a chance!' and waited to see what people who's opinions on the game I generally agree with had to say...some positives, but a lot of frustration.

So no, I'm not going to be buying the game for my PC (my hubby did buy it for the PS3 and so far, not impressed). For many of the reasons Sabriana had to say up thread.

Too bad too, totally got me off my DA:O addiction.....(well, good for the house/yard work and looking at opening a bakery)

If it turns out that future installments of the DA franchise need the story line of Awakenings to play properly, then I'll keep an eye out for a used copy....but I won't be buying it new. And if Awakenings isn't necessary? then I won't be buying it at all.

EDIT:
And if anyone knows where i can get the 1.02 patch to roll back to, I would greatly appreciate it.

I started one of the "Wait and see" threads and I am still waiting and not seeing anything that makes me want to buy it. Until they update the toolset to allow modders to put things in that should have been there in the first place, like personality to the NPCs, for example, I won't buy it.

Removing conversation and romance reduces Awakenings to the level of a shooter, to me. Bioware did the same thing with Mass Effect 2, sadly enough. If ME2 had the same level of NPC interaction as ME1, it would have been the best game ever.

Only reason I haven't got it is because of money issues. I will get it eventually. ALthough I admit this is the first time I heard of problems in the game? Must investigate this.

I haven't bought it yet for a combination 2 reasons:

1)Price - $40 is pricey for an expansion. It might be justified if it was very meaty, or had high replay value due to different variations based on Origins choices and/or multiple plot branches based on your choices in Awakenings. One of the few things all the reviews I read seemed to agree on was that there really wasn't a lot of impact from Origins choices other than superficially. To me that diminishes replay value and thereby diminishes what I'm willing to pay.

2)Quality - When 1.03 dropped I started experiencing massive slowdowns and some CTDs where I almost never experienced them before. I run 1 very simple mod(natural bodies), so I doubt it was mod incompatibility. That and the many people experiencing bugs of the kind that give me the impression of a lack of polishing/rushed QA(quest order completion bugs, companion approval, rune types, etc) gives me the impression that at least for now, the quality from strictly a software perspective is low.

As I said, it's a combination of both of those factors. I WANT to buy Awakening and continue smashing stuff with a great big 2h axe, but I'm not willing to pay what I consider to be "premium" price for an expansion that isn't very "meaty" and seems to be of lower quality. If the price were less(25 CAD) or the quality were better(1.04 maybe?) then I'd be willing to reconsider.

In short: MAKE WITH THE PATCHES AND PRICE DROPS EA/BIOWARE!!!! ;-)

I'm another that hasn't purchased it, and still not sure I ever will. Mostly, I am annoyed by the lack of continuity - why are all my companions except the drunk suddenly gone, without so much as a fare thee well? Add in the stripped down story, short length so you can't even really get to know the new companions (and the new conversation system just adds to this) and the rather high price for what you get, and I just couldn't get excited about Awakenings.

Also, I see that there is no epilogue save, so it seems that this is the end of the story for our hero. Maybe if there was going to be a third chapter, I might get it for continuity, but that seems unlikely. If they end up doing a DA2, I'll consider it depending on what I hear becasue I really really liked DA:O.

i had bought it when it first came out and only played around with it a few times.  i been kinda scared to really go deep into it cuz of all the issues ppl on here keep saying about it.  I do like the new spells/talents/skills and other stuff.  I just wish more of Origins was brought into this game.  Maybe Bioware should really work on a patch that some how brings more Origins stuff into Awakenings (characters, items and such), but i doubt they will.

On the other hand it, I have finally gone back and started playing DAO again from the beginning to work on getting the other trophies i still need for the original game, and even just try to make my chara better this time around.

One thing i would like to see is Bioware doing something special for those of us who bought Awakenings on day 1 (or with-in the first month), as a way of saying thanks for supporting Bioware and their game.
