You get what you pay for.
Nothing in this country (USA) is free. You want something of quality, you have to pay for it.
Well BioWare is canadian.
Furthermore, if you want something of quality then you are not going to buy DLC. The whole idea is just a market experiment that worked well due to the stupidity of most people that think just because something doesn't cost that much they get a good deal. And people that actually prefer to pay good money for real quality have to put up with developers that waste their effort on completely random and low quality "new outfits with shades" or another gun here and there which only works because the game started with so little equipment to begin with.

"You get an extra gun for your trouble, as well as a bar where Shepard can get smashed, if you're so inclined. These are welcome rewards, though they don't add significant value considering the add-on's cost. This is especially true if you have finished the game before tackling the new content; 560 Microsoft points ($7) is a bit steep considering the inconsistent quality of this hour-long mission. Kasumi - Stolen Memory is still worth a look, but it won't leave you with any lasting memories of your own."

We as the consumer have quite a bit of power in terms of how much developers set prices for games. supply/demand thing. If everyone thinks the price it outrageous and not purchase this DLC or this game for that matter. Guess what, the price will go down.
Though i see everyone's point of wanting a game at the best price possible; i urge everyone who thinks this way to simple exercise their right of choice and not purchase it. If enough people do that, then well the price will go down.
The price wouldnt go down...because that would not be enough win scenario for a shareholder company like EA.
The DLC simply just wouldnt happen!

Obama wants to raise the top tax bracket from paying 33% income tax to 37%. I suppose a moderate wants 35%? Or, instead of a full health care bill, they'd want half a health-care bill (which is pretty much what we got)?
My whole thing is labeling yourself in any fashion is just a way to deter you from looking at individual issues. The tax you pay will never be 0%, it will never be 100%. Our government's job is to provide the commonwealth things that we need to have an opportunity to make a life for ourselves: military protection, police, fire protection, some level of education (healthcare, maybe). How far we take that role can be argued, but providing these things doesn't make us Communist or Capitalist, it's just what any good government will do. We can argue the merits of these common institutions individually, or we can be partisan morons who make partisan jokes while monetary powers treat the vast majority of our population like we're simpletons to be taken for a ride.
Okay. I'll leave for real now. I again apologize if I offended anybody, I don't think badly of Republicans as a whole, just people who act like the TC, joking or not... in fact, joking or pretending to be a partisan tool maybe pisses me off even more. Unless it's Stephen Colbert, and the TC is not Stephen Colbert.

Look. If you can't complete content in time, and the only way to finish it is to DLC it once it's done, you'll do it. Even if some people think it should be free, it's only human.
It's not communism - not really. Squadmates with their own DLC will always be more important than missions are.

Amen !
DLC exists because a company wants to make money from it, basically. If they get no money from it, then DLC won't be made. Simple, no ?
I am aware that there are cases where DLC is released free of charge to keep a game interesting. However this mostly only applies if there are future plans for the game, like an Add-on which will cost money again.

I think you're all communists. I think you like free healthcare, and your free unemloyment benefits, that usually follow from living in your parents house (for free), and as a result you expect everything for free. OH SURE! It would be fine if you could trade your bread, and other goods with bioware employees in exchange for DLC, but because you have to pay money, it's now absurd!
Communists. I bet you voted Obama as well. Apart from people in the EU. I bet you voted for sarkozy, or brown (wait, no one did), or whoever the hell is chancellor in germany right now.
COMMUNISTS!
We shall be victorious, capitalist pig-dog, as we stand together for the Motherland!
