Hi,

I'm a bit rusty in the rendering department, but here's how I imagined the rose Alistair found in Lothering

Colour

As for the dark tower - I actually considered adding a few glints of light around it, as in the books, but I decided that there were worlds other than these ;-)

The only thing I would possibly change is to make the pink more reddish. Not that I know anything about art, mind you. Just a suggestion.

I'm not sure ;-) You'd be leaving one obsessive guy for another with arthritis ;-)



As for the pink I can tweak it a bit in Photoshop, to see if I can get it redder - it's a light thing; when you're rendering leaves and petals, you have something called translucency, which is how light shines through an object. (putting a flashlight over your hand or seeing how the sun shines through leaves is a good example of what it is) - in this instance, no ,matter how much you set the lighting, some of the translucence will always be pink-ish because of the way it shines through the petal.

Well, the arthritis goes away after a little while. Pretty sure he is still completely awesome even before it does go away, though.



Yes, I understand the concept of translucency. XD I meant not knowing anything about art in an artistic sense. I would be interested in seeing if I like it better darker, though.

Don't set it as your desktop at 800x600 - I rendered it out much bigger, I can upload a desktop size if pp want? I want to tweak colours anyway, I just need to find the time :-)

Oh, no need to apologize to me.  I still love the pic.  I was just curious how it looked a bit darker, is all.  If you said it looked bad, I will take your word for it.
