Help with the lock bash mod

Found out about the lock bash mod and it sounded like a must-have. It bugged me from the very start that a dwarf as strong as a bull wielding a maul the sixe of texas is defeated by a chest with a tiny lock on it. :huh:

So, I found the mod here: http://modsreloaded.com/lock-bash

with the very verbose and helpful step by step installation instructions:

The download is a zip, with two zips inside it, as far as I can tell, one for DA:O without Awakenings, and one with Awakenings.

Got the zip for without out of the package, but of course daupdater.exe would not find it, because daupdater looks for files with the extension dazip, not zip. So, not knowing what else to do, I renaimed "Lock_Bash_for_Original_v7.zip" to "Lock_Bash_for_Original_v7.dazip"

Then used the daupdater.exe on it, and everything seemed to go smoothly.

Then I did as instructed in the "configuration" section, copy pasting the given option list to the end of DragonAge.ini under the appropriate folder under my documents. Changed one setting - the Ba****emBreakChance from MEDIUM to LOW.

Ran Dragonage, went up to a locked chest, clicked on it, and got the familar "insufficient skill" message. No busting out the maul. :(

So, for those using the mod, any suggestions on how to get it to work?

HAHA! The autosensor is really hilarious sometimes - it identified the string SH*T inside bash_item, and sensored it. :blink:

Use one of the lock bash mods on this site and it should work fine. No need for that complicated configuration stuff or whatever... Don't know why you are doing that.

OH, hadn't noticed that this site actually had mods on it too. Just clicked on the "Projects" link for the first time and I'm off looking for another bash mod... thanks!

The bash item mod that can be found on this site is actually the same one that I found off-site, but another version it seems - it's files are correctly named .dazip and not .zip, and it has fewer configuration options. Installed that, hope it works.

Here's the one with an Awakening update:

There seems to be two *.dazip files inside of a *.7z. Use Winrar or another appropriate archiver, then install with daupdater.

I've just set the item's breaking chance to none when I've even used the mod. That way you get the same items as a rogue would.

Nothing to hanker after in those chests, though expect maybe a map for Loghain in the Arl of Denerim's estate quest room, after the Landsmeet. The Beastman's Dagger in the Circle Tower is ok, but I'm not 100% sure as to whether it was in a locked chest at all. I prefer using Leili anyway.

i hav lock bash from dragon age nexus and its doesnt seem to work for me too... im a warrior and i did everything that was instructed, when i tried it on a chest it just says "insufficient skill" any help? please. ;D

I can't get it to work either. I've tried restarting the game. I followed the instructions from the dragonagenexus site. I used DAMODDER to install, because I can't find a bin folder listing the app to install the way it wants me to. (new to win 7)Anyway, damodder said it installed, its listed on installed list but I'm in the starting out area, when Duncan leads you outside the mage place. Fereldin? Right before you go to the wilds. Rerolling wiht the mods fixed some of the mods that didn't work but not opening all these locked boxes all over.

Can't get it to work either followed all the instruntions but keep getting the"insufficient skill" script did anyone find a soulution or is it rogues and mages with the open lock spell only (who wants to be a Warrior anyway).

used the onsite mod and that works (did'nt need to alter dragonage.ini either) that appears to be the soullution, YAY.
