FO3 really, really needed party banter and chatter. I so wanted to hear Charon say "WTF is that?" about my newly purchased heart-shaped bed and PG-13 chandelier.
Did I mention I had a little Charon crush, too?
I know you have, because I felt relieved that I wasn't the only one. I imagine he'd give a nice running commentary on how lost we always were and what a wuss I was for being scared sh!tless of deathclaws. Until, of course, he gets killed in a deathclaw ambush.

I don't know. I mean I knew this guy in Ultima Online that owned a tower and a castle and spent most of his time decorating.
I had a tamer so, if I wasn't spending time decorating I would tame massive amount of dragons and then let them lose on people. That game was so full of win when it was imbalanced.

Have I ever talked about Secret Shame Hobby #9? It's building and decorating Sims 2 homes (actually, remodeling existing homes and decorating). I think it's the only video game pursuit that has lost me more of my life than DAO. Of course, I never wrote Sims 2 redecorating fanfic, so there is that.

I could never get into the Sims. I tried once but I was that person that put them in the pool than deleted the ladder.

Yeah that SUCKS. But Sean Bean and Patrick Stewart together would have been more awsome than the player could handle.Costin_Razvan wrote...
Too bad they kill Patrick Steward early on. "Sighs" Oh well, you have Sean Bean for most of the game!

See, death by ladderless pool is fine but the game gives you so much opportunity to torture your sims that something as simple as drowning them becomes too easy. I was fond of creating post-apocalyptic neighborhoods and turning their lives into zombie plagued soap operas. Ah, good times.

I think I need to go back to playing Oblivion. I might be able to work up some Lucien Lachance squee. It's sick and wrong, but there was just something about that guy.
But, we do need some Alistair, even in my DAO funk I can acknowledge that.
I'm quoting myself which is weird, but question for tmp if he's lurking: Did you add in afterglow on their skin?
Most of the atmosphere is done by the lighting setup and colours of the scene though, and that's all BioWare's own work.

LOL I was too nice to my Sims. I esp liked playing the Alien College kid, Stella. She mothered a whole generation of sims on her block in Pleasantview.

I think the writers do this purposely to mess with your mind. The nicest, sanest people in the Wasteland are the ghouls. And even though the writing in FO3 is primitive compared to DAO, they gave you just enough about Charon to make you want to know more.SurelyForth wrote...

Now I'm having game warp visions again, picturing Charon picking off Loghain soldiers with his shotgun and saying "Ya like that, ya bastahd?!" And then there's Regulator Alistair. *sigh* If only.

Ha! I had this whole set of white trash mods that even had junk cars to put in the yard. It was 100% pure win.

I found Sims work best if i just left them mostly to their own AI and just did the actions to carry out their own random whims. The sort of stories that'd result out of it were crazier and more entertaining than any kind of torture people generally seem to come up with.sylvanaerie wrote...

I had this whole chaste love story going between Charon and one of my PCs. It was a nice way to pass the time while strolling and made the game feel kind of sweet. Until I somehow dropped his contract on accident and glitched that file forever.

My husband is actually the home decoration obsessive. He is actually more home-maker/domestic minded than me.
I could happily live in a garden shed, provided I had access to a toilet and shower, and an electric cable and wireless set up so i could play on my computer. My other needs can be easily fulfilled in the most primitive fashion.

Yeah, but you put it together and made it work in ways you don't see in the vanilla scenes, so you are a magnificent bastard, I don't care what you say.tmp7704 wrote...
It's just a camera tricksame thing they do in the photography -- a very shallow depth of field makes most of things go slightly out of focus so they appear smoother and the shot gets sort of a dreamy quality to it. Seemed fitting

It must be the same thing, here, right? I always thought my PC's face looked very nice in the softer light.

LOL My husband and I had this same conversation after he observed me laboriously moving stuff around. I would try to put food on the plates to make it look happy and lived-in. That's how I am in RL, but video games bring out some sort of inner Martha Stewart and I just want things to be perfect for my pixels.

True, though I've never played Oblivion. When it comes to video games, I'm a packrat. I went a bit domestic in Baldur's gate. That's one of the things I miss in D&D: bags of holding. My inventory slots usually were filled with them.
I mean, you never know when you might pick up a quest where someone absolutely needs an empty beer bottle, else the world is DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
