He's supposed to kiss you even if it's still_in_love? Aww, that's kind of terrible and sweet at the same time.

Yes, he's still in love with you. That is why he says that he will not "say" anything.

Right, I get it.  Another swoop.

Sad.  :?

The Alistair US ending is WAY sad at "still in love". I've done it once and am going to do it again with my mage.

That the one where he goes back to the Wardens for a time but leaves 'its not the same' and then disappears I think? or was that unhardened Alistair?  My second fic was about this.

No no when he sacs himself at still in love.

So, Dalish ladies, what are your character's personalities like? I have a hard time coming up with a personality for my dalish.

Mine was actually pretty hate free till Duncan told her she had to become a GW.  Then she had to be dragged kicking and screaming to Ostagar (and I imagined she bit him as well).  She hated being a GW and just wanted the big mess over with.  Took a while for her to warm up to Alistair (I just can't romance zevran at all).  She hated the shemlen world  and the politics and stuff but not the shems themselves.  Just DuncanPosted Image

My ranger joined when Keeper said "its your duty" and brought up the treaties.  Made for quite a different feel doing the quests and stuff.  I really enjoyed her.

Most of my PCs are pretty hate free, they usually reserve their ire for someone who has wronged them. (like Loghain/Howe etc).

Mine was a snob and a right brat. Duncan had to conscript her, drag her kicking and screaming to Ostagrar. Alistair did alot of this...

Until she got a grip after the Urn. She's still snarky about humans and city elves (She feels about city elves what Morrigan feels about circle mages) but she's less likely to shoot them in the **** with fire arrows from the bushes now.

Yeah, I can't play racist PCs. I'm gonna look up a name and make her head in toolset and worry about personality later. But I can't place their personalities really well.

I haven't been playing the past few days, and I'd also like to take my time with this DEF.  I might even... creators help me... I might even write a little background fic about her.  I just wish David Gaider would spill his guts about the Dalish.  The background lore is thin on the ground.

I honestly think it could go either way between Zevran or Alistair.  I like the Alistair-Mahariel pairing, though.  Very Romeo and Juliet.

Mine is honor and duty-bound, and completely committed to her clan.  She didn't want to leave until the Keeper made it clear that her duty was to go, and then pledged herself entirely to the Grey Wardens.  She has a good heart and tries to do right by people - Bhelen might have been the more "powerful" choice, but she chose Harrowmont because she didn't feel that Bhelen's ruthlessness would be good for the dwarven people long-term (no meta-gaming allowed).

Because everything is different to her she studies people carefully and makes choices cautiously but is willing to go the distance to do what's right.  Cailan says the Dalish are well-known for their skill and honor, and that honor is very important to her.  She isn't above doing something practical when necessary though (lying to the kitty-demon to free Amalya or the assassin side quests).

I think my Dalish mage will be more Ok with joining. But rather terrified (after Ostagar), being that she's a mage and not leashed to the circle. Alistair's little speech at Flemeth's compounded with the fact that he's a templar (ex I know) will probably keep her away from him romantically.

That's how mine was too, in terms of her attitude toward shems. She didn't despise them, but she didn't especially care for their society and politics. She ended up liking being a Grey Warden though, which is why she said kept Alistair and stayed as a Warden with him.

No conscription for my Mahariel.  She wasn't going to let Duncan see her whine, not after the keeper told her it was her duty.  Plus, she was Tamlen's lover and intended, and the darkspawn took him.  I figure the idea that the darkspawn need to be stopped at all costs is something she'll totally sign on with, once the shock of having to leave her clan and losing Tamlen recedes.  The darkspawn need an ass kicking.

Reading the description I realized that what's going on in that picture is that Mahariel is saying goodbye to Alistair so he can go be king.  :crying:

But, I think you can see it in a more positive way, that she inspires him.

I was responding to your comment about how saying Leliana taught Alistair that he could be inconsistent might cause problems.

It seems to me that the two origins most likely to understand the need for Alistair's duty to be king are the Dalish and the HNs and maybe the DNs, only HNFs have the opportunity to become queen as well and still marry their love.  The Dalish have to "settle" with mistress, or if their honor forbids that, then they have to let him go.  CEFs and DCFs seem more likely to take the practical view on things so the mistrss option might not be so bad, and I could see a mage grasping any freedom they could get.  But the Dalish knew freedom, would probably think court is stifling...

There's just so much potential for tragedy and sorrow and angst that it makes the romance that much more poignant to me.  :crying:

It's true, in my previous DEF game she went to rebuild the Wardens so she could maintain some freedom.  When I re-did her game, I made her chancellor, but probably my first instinct was better.  She stayed with Alistair, though.  I figure you can base yourself in and around Denerim without being in court every day.  The Warden HQ isn't there anymore, but certainly the Wardens should have a presence there.

Ohhh, I think my dalish is going to put Alistair on the throne and do the US, because she doesn't want to ask him to do a dark ritual and doesn't trust Morrigan with a child (especially the love of her life's child). She is going to leave him at the gates. It's going to be tragic...and awesome.

Yea mine saw how Anora wanted it so much and Alistair kept saying he didn't.  She saw the cage bars and didn't want her fella trapped like that.  She hated Eamon too.  So she kept Anora on the throne and got land for her people and went off to be a GW with Alistair.  That ended up being my favorite ending.

My DEF was pretty much down with the DR.  The bit about preserving an old god because such things were worth preserving seems tailor made for a Dalish Warden.

OTOH, it's interesting to read that the elves have a myth about gods who were false and locked away, too.  Supposedly not the same as the Chantry's "old gods," but still, seems suspicious that there are such similar myths.

Another sweet Mahariel fanart for top of the page.  Actually not positive this is a Mahariel, but it looks like one.
