Ohhh, I think my dalish is going to put Alistair on the throne and do the US, because she doesn't want to ask him to do a dark ritual and doesn't trust Morrigan with a child (especially the love of her life's child). She is going to leave him at the gates. It's going to be tragic...and awesome.
Thinking about it for my fic, I think my Dalish and Morrigan are something of kindred spirits - both raised in the wild and not used to human ways. I imagine them hunting together, in a friendly competition sort of way, and while they're very different in terms of personality and morality, they have this common bond that unites them.
If she could have done the ritual herself, she wouldn't have had a huge problem with it, not after Morrigan reassures her that she means them no harm and that the child will be neither harmed or be a danger to Ferelden in the future. What paused her was asking Alistair to do it when she knows that he would balk at sleeping with someone else and knowing how much he despises Morrigan. So she brings the matter to him and lets him decide. Were it up to my Dalish girl, she would find a way to take the final blow herself, but she knows that there's no way to be sure that Alistair won't sacrifice himself to spare her. So Morrigan's ritual it is.
