I like some flaws. Gives character. I think it is just hard to get past Lothering, period. Once you're into the treaty quests it goes easier, I find. Then there's a midlife crisis before the Deep Roads.cmessaz wrote...
I can't seem to get a character out of Lothering if they aren't perfect in every way. I sort of annoy myself.

You obviously don't live in new England.
Everytime I watched the Patriots play last year, they lost. I was so disgusted 1/2 way through the season, I had to stop watching. I would still follow what happened in the games, but I could not bring myself to watch.
So help me, if things are not better this year, I might lose my mind.

Shale's ending isn't so bad. If she likes you then she and Wynne set off to the Tevinter to turn her into a dwarf again and then Wynne's ditched her by the time Awakening rolls around.
Yeah I didn't have Wynne this time. Shayle was strange with me this time though. She was friendly...but more hostile than usual.
I just went and looked, I apparently only got her to 50 (warm). I think I forgot to go and do things again after I backtracked. I also couldn't complete her quest, it disappeared from my map completely.

So, Dalish ladies, what are your character's personalities like? I have a hard time coming up with a personality for my dalish.
I bit late, I know, but I was out seeing MacGruber. Hehe.
Caelynna is fairly calm, even-keeled. She doesn't actually have much shem hate as all the things done to her people seem so very far removed. She doesn't trust them very much, but that comes mainly from her dealings her clan has had with them. She is very good friends with Alistair, though there are testy moments to their relationship. Like the whole lying about being a prince thing.
She falls for Zevran, in part, b/c she sees his journey as the opposite of hers. She goes from being free, her own person, to being bound to something forever; she can't ever really leave. Zevran on the other hand goes from being a slave to being free; from thinking he can never be free of the Crows to finding that he can actually chose what to do with his life. An odd sort of compliment.

Yeah, it is boring for me too. Which sucks, because I think the Brecillian forest is soooooooo pretty, but I basically sleep walk through the whole quest.

I couldn't stand his xenophobic rant about why we should kill three random humans whose only crime was running into us. I mean, we were going to have to move the clan anyway. Plus, you know, his stupid mirror fetish ruined my life.yukidama wrote...

Eh, I liked him well enough, but not as a romance. It never even occurred to Caelynna that he or anyone else might see that in their relationship.

I think what bothers me most is that I'm all "Hey, this isn't a good idea, maybe we should go back and tell the keeper..." multiple times and he's all "WHAT'S THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN LOLOLOL!" I dunno. I just didn't really care what happened to him at all, personally.

His romance starter was something about how they'd rather hang out with him than go do whatever it is they were supposed to do, right? That could easily just mean that they didn't want to go help whoever with whatever and go play hunter instead. That's far more ambiguous and less flirty than any of the other origin romances, that's for sure, and you could easily accidently turn it on.LadyDamodred wrote...

Seriously. What's the worst that can happen? I can think of a dozen awful things that could happen when two fairly newbie elves stroll into an abandoned ruin in the middle of a forest. Plus, the guys you may or may not have just killed told you there was a monster in there, why would you risk going in by yourself even if they were lying? Ugh. I want to smack him.

What I thought was weird about the Tamlen romance is that unlike with, say, the DN and mage origins where Gorim and Cullen will be in love with you regardless (although if you choose two of the initial options Gorim doesn't mention it again the VO notes insist that he is) but Tamlen is only in love with you if you activate the romance. Why is that? He doesn't do unrequited love?

I played it as Lyra's first love, at least what she thought was love at the time. She learns later that "love" would protect from danger, not put her directly in it's path for selfish curiosity. That's probably how my mage will start too. Though she won't have the bitterness that my rogue started off with.

No, it's a pretty obvious romance line. When he asks why you're with him instead of with Master Varathorn today like you're supposed to have done, you can tell him "I wanted to be with you, of course." Your other options are something like "I wanted to get away" or "This is a punishment, actually". (Yeah, okay, maybe I've done these dialogs too often.... >.>)
As far as his insistence with going down to the ruins, I can think of a few reasons.
1) You're Dalish. Pretty much your entire existence revolves around collecting lost elven lore. Hearing some shems talk about elven ruins is going to be pretty much a magnet for any Dalish to go exploring.
2) You're both Dalish hunters. As Tamlen says "Dalish hunters aren't afraid of anything!" It's naive, sure, but you're both young and think you're invincible. Despite the potential danger, neither of you probably think that anything really could have gone wrong.
3) Tamlen is in trouble with the Keeper for brawling. He hoped that finding a piece of Dalish lore would put him back in her good graces, in addition to making a name for yourselves for finding something great.
Is it stupid and naive? Sure, but you're both still considered children in the clan, so you're both on the very young side of things. It's not really any more naive than either of the dwarves participating in the Proving trials, or the mage helping Jowan, or the city elf slaughtering Vaughn, IMO.

So they'd only like you if you liked them back? Why? I know that would certainly take away a lot of Cullen's creepiness potential...cmessaz wrote...
